Morning all!

Had a brilliant time at the races but no wins for me (or The Times' tipster, grr!). Great seeing dh have such a great time, and worth not drinking for him to get all squiffy and romantic! Also dc1 gave us his usual 5.30am Saturday shout.
I told dh I'd have to report back on what I saw and he said 'heiffers', that's what I see! He judged the worst dressed as someone wearing electric blue shorts with footless fishnets underneath!

There was a best dressed couple competition and the prize was £1000 shopping in Chester voucher. It was judged by some Hollyoaks people.
Well, what a disappointment. Men in suits and women in Coast with fascinators. The winning couple wore matchy matchy grey and fuchsia. With a bit of thought I reckon it could have been for the taking. Next year!!

Have I mentioned we're not having this scorchio weather the rest of you are and I am more than a little peeved?
Saw some great maxis last night and they looked better in general than the shorter dresses with (quite inappropiate) heels and orange legs. Maxis and (my) skinny jeans were much better for sprawling out on the grass studying the form. The spike heels on the grass?too try hard for me.

Enough rambling. Didn't realise quite how starved of a bit of people watching I was!

Hope you have lovely Saturdays, oh who was asking about weights? I started with 1.5kgs and now on 2.5kgs.

OllieWollieWoo · 10/07/2010 07:52

Morning - post Pimms headache here - lovely neighbours popped round last night for impromptu drink! We have to look after their rabbit for 2.5 weeks whilst they are on holiday - called Snuffles, is v unfriendly and a seasoned escape artist - oh the pressure!

Got one of those Saturdays with lots of running around - trip to the local market, library with kids, need more supplies from the garden centre (have the bit between my teeth getting garden looking halfway decent - have friends over for BBQ tomorrow and their garden is always so neat!), DS1's swimming lesson, jet spraying the patio, decorating house for the football tomorrow etc. Those sort of days just fly by.

Well done on all the sports day results! Blossoming - racing sounded fun - I love people watching too! Glad the op went ok RG. Its horrible having to wait around to be discharged when you just want to get home.

OllieWollieWoo · 10/07/2010 08:03

Keep meaning to ask - was the M&S sale on when I was away or has it yet to start??????

notyummy · 10/07/2010 08:17

Blossoming- Glad you had a good time at the races. Sounds great for people watching!

Reallygrumpy- Your weights for the shred depend on what exercise you do already. If you have really low upper body strength then starting with tins and working up to weights could be answer. Having said that, you will need weights eventually so like Blossoming, I would recommend starting with 1.5kg. It may be worthwhile buying a set, which means you can cam continue to challenge yourself. When I shred now I mostly use a 3 kg, although I move to up to a 5 kg for a couple of exercises( and move down to 1.5 for a couple of the really killer ones- squats with v raises anyone??)

carciofi · 10/07/2010 08:48

Bloss, the race sounds fun.

RG, glad your op went ok and you are home. I like your NAP purhases. We watched that DVD last night too, it was a lot better than I thought it would be.

DD woke at 4.30am, her room is so hot. She is now fast asleep beside DH. They look very sweet but she pushed me right over to the edge (and it is a king-sive bed)so I had to get up at 7 due to a bad crick in my neck!

Did you buy anything from the Hush sale, Fritzi? I only bought the cardigown and decided against the cargos in the end as I'm going to save my pennies for a pale pink DKNY cozy. I like that poncho Tracey, I was looking at it yesterday.

You sound busy, Ollie! I think the M&S sale was on but not entirely sure.

carciofi · 10/07/2010 08:49

size not sive

MarshaBrady · 10/07/2010 09:02

Morning everyone!

Three (children's) parties this weekend, but can't really wear the maxi as same crowd as lovely woman saying nice stuff about me. But need to look good, the pressure It is an a&w dilemma we all face

Love this hot weather, feels like holidays.

What are people wearing today?

hellsbelles · 10/07/2010 09:46

morning all,

RG - glad it went as well as it could...and I hope you get some rest over the weekend.

Marsha - Bravo on the wonderful compliment.

Tracey - that poncho looks very Gucci! I would pounce on it if it wasn't navy (I have no navy so it would be clashville for me).

Marsha I'm trying not to wear any of my holiday clothes...so I'm surgically attached to my denim mini and tank tops at the moment. As I'm still Dukaning I think it looks o.k...but it's hardly A&W worthy. However I have been having a 'blouse' moment and dug out some old ones which look (I think) rather good with denim mini as well.

Cake - that woman defies belief. She really does.

Bloss - the races sounds such fun - glad you had such a good time.

OWW - sounds like a busy but good day.

We fly off on Weds. Can't wait. But I've booked a waxing for Tuesday...and thought that with my good old italian heritage I would easily be hairy enough by then (I stopped shaving on thurs)...but no...nadar...nothing? WTF? I am as hairfree and soft as a baby's bottom. Quite bizzare. I wonder if I've evolved in some way and as I lose weight I'm also becoming naturally uber groomed . I am now willing the hair to grow (because of course if I can't have a waxing it'll all suddenly appear as soon as I put on my bikini!). oh dear...what a post. TMI - sorry.

carciofi · 10/07/2010 09:52

Hells, lol about the waxing. Maybe pack some Immac!

I am still in pajamas and about to make pancakes but going to wear red jersey DKNY dress today.

MarshaBrady · 10/07/2010 09:53

Oh Hells lovely, I love the build up to a holiday.

Me too on blouses, think they can look excellent especially with denim.

I have a problem with shoes I either have Lacoste pumps or bright coral/tomato suede pumps with heels. The former too lax and the latter quite dressy for day. Although the colour is brilliant.

I really need flat pumps but not sure re Blochs. Doesn't seem to be much about.

MarshaBrady · 10/07/2010 09:55

DKNY dress sounds fab!

hellsbelles · 10/07/2010 09:57

oh yes - red DKNY sounds perfect.

Marsha - do you need shoes for work/home? I'm living in my glads at the moment. I find my feet get too hot in the blochs (in this weather).

blossoming · 10/07/2010 10:03

Re eBay, carciofi, the most I've sold jeans for was £25 I think.

I've gone off the whole idea as I'm having a nightmare from someone in EU who bombarded me with messages, bought 3 items for about £1.50 and with postage she spent £6.35. More messages. Then a month later said she didn't receive anything. So I refund via paypal, she hasn't claimed it and has opened a dispute about me. Ffs.
You'd think it was thousands.

MarshaBrady · 10/07/2010 10:11

For home. My dilemma is that I have an issue with feet (bizarro)). So never wear sandals. Which limits my choices.

The best summer shoe I have had was bright red/auburn patent flat pumps (anne valerie hash). I need to find some again.

traceybath · 10/07/2010 10:21

Morning All - very overcast here and quite cool really.

RG - glad the op is over and you're back home.

Marsha - love the sound of your heels - where did you get those from?

Hells - lol at hairy dilemma. I love blouses and love them tucked into skinnies - I'm still in search of the perfect denim mini thats not too mini as really don't want to flash my knickers to all and sundry.

Carciofi - red dress sounds good!

Have ordered the poncho - spring10 still seems to get 20% off at the white co.

Quiet day today - am battling through an ironing mountain and then need to go to waitrose before doing nails etc in anticipation of tonight. Still don't know what to wear though.

MarshaBrady · 10/07/2010 10:35

TraceyB it is these from UO. They were whisked off the site after I ordered so couldn't link. The colour is bright, bright and they were not exxy at all.

Plus a Kimchi & Blue floral blouse which has gone too, bah!

GeorginaWorsley · 10/07/2010 10:36

I like that poncho too,tracey
White Co sent me a 10% discount on the autumn preview, but I know better discounts will emerge!

AllBuggiedOut · 10/07/2010 10:41

Morning all.

OWW I don't think M&S sale has started yet.

I ordered the silk maxi in both colours from Hush and the navy hoodie although I suspect 2 if not all 3 things will go back.

Let us know when you find that perfect mini tracey!

Your evening sounds fab bloss and I do hope you go again next year and win the best dressed! I'm sure we will have fun helping you choose what you and your OH should wear!

When you talk about weights for shreding, does 1.5kg mean each weight is 1.5 or is that the total weight? Got scared looking at capri pants on Sweaty Betty and have had to come away

Still in nightie here - friend are arriving late afternoon and we're going to go to a local music festival for a couple of hours. Maybe Arrogant Cat jumpsuit and hasbeens? Or would I regret heels of any sort on grass?

OllieWollieWoo · 10/07/2010 12:19

ABO - I keep meaning to get these weights next time I am in the UK - no idea if they are any good but cute colurs!!!here.

blossoming · 10/07/2010 13:04

Yes, each weight is 2.5kg. Gets easier, but I won't increase again as don't want too bulky shoulders.

LetThemEatCake · 10/07/2010 13:04

hi everyone

am feeling a bit blue today, mostly bc I watched the last ever ep of 24 last night .. have been putting it off for ages as couldn't bear to say goodbye .. good god, I was sobbing like an absolute loon.

ASOS order arrived and lots of good stuff in there, including the purple cossie which ticks multiple boxes - cheap, good coverage, great colour, reasonably flattering (as much as anything can be on my chunky self) and demure so good for boring picnic and lechy SFiL. Horse bangle quite lovely, owl pendant cute, bag capacious, stripe dress nice but too sim to Zara one I already have, one belt faulty, one belt good, shoes quite cool. Mum's shoes look good but she hasn't tried on yet.

So tomorrow, think I will wear the purple stripe maxi from H&M (the ridiculously long one; have had it taken up twice!!)

Now need to dress for party this arvo, think will wear this dress and Hasbeens.

ABO Hasbeens very good on grass I think. Have fun!

am very glad that good nights were had last night.

marsha enjoy the parties!!

RG brave you. Take it easy this weekend.

hells didn't mean to sound mega- bitchy about that mum but she sort of made a big deal of it - of not going in the mums' race, of going in with the dads. She kind of wasn't being fun and kooky, you know??

anyhoo ... better go and get dressed. Enjoy your sunny weekends, all. Scorcher here.

carciofi · 10/07/2010 18:36

Enjoy the parties, anyone going to parties!

LTEC, I have never watched 24, I take it you recommend it?! The Odette dress is lovely.

DH has taken DD off so I went to Sweaty Betty and bought a few things in the sale for the gym. I have also ordered the White Co poncho and another Splendid thermal wrap (not very elegant but I love them!). I hope I can cancel the Hush order, think I would rather wait for the winter stuff.

carciofi · 10/07/2010 18:39

Blossoming, the buyer sounds extremely annoying!

hellsbelles · 10/07/2010 19:18

LTEC - I felt exactly the same. I have recovered since discovering Prison Break

I'm in a major strop as DS has managed to get headlice AGAIN. Such fun for the holiday. I'm manic about checking so I know we've caught it early but really....urghhh.

blossoming · 10/07/2010 19:59

I know carciofi, but what do I do? Her English is appalling, but why doesn't she claim the money? So frustrating.
Would love some new sweaty betty stuff but seems extravagant as I'm shredding from home mostly in, ahem, my knicks !! Well you get so hot...!

Sorry to hear of the headlice hells. I hope you get it sorted soon.

Sitting here tired and ready for wine and carbs. Dh looking at tri-nations rugby! Withdrawal from the domestic season!M
