blossoming - Think the blazer is timeless and you could wear it with many things. Have never ordered anything from JB for myself but I quite like these shoes and this dress. Do you think their clothes are overpriced? Feel the same as Libra about the lining of their jackets, it's terrible. Maybe I should sit on my hands and wait until there is more A/W stuff in the shops. Can't stop thinking about the Maje boots Marsha linked to earlier today.

FritziGreenEyes · 23/07/2010 16:04

OWW - Just read what you wrote about your DH. That's so sweet!

Cake- I also loved your supermarket folly (is that a real word or Shakespeare English? ) and the fact that your DH complimented you on your apron. My DH never seems to notice what I wear or when I have been to the hairdressers. Last week I got a compliment from him. I was wearing an old summer dress and sandals and think I have better outfits, but compliments are still lovely.

LetThemEatCake · 23/07/2010 16:14

happy 1st birthday Bea!

glad you are feeling brighter mm

notyummy I'm really sorry about the office closure but have 100% belief that this will prove to be a gain rather than otherwise for you

blossoming that is deffo a good look, can see you in that

rufus a pox on you; that first Belstaff has ruined all other aviators for me

Dolce glad you enjoyed ds's b'day despite your mum's behaviour

Seeing Jools Holland tonight, outdoors - was hoping for balmy eve and am now in style quandary

Nice dress Fritzi - I saw this one and liked it - but its viscose - is that a W&A no no?
here

I quite liked the cord dress too Blossoming - the chocolate one would prob suit me best tho holding off all AW puchases til I've had my colours done! Would this similar tunic suit you too?
here?

FritziGreenEyes · 23/07/2010 16:32

That's lovely OWW. Would wear it with a wide belt I think. What is the problem with viscose? I always thought it is a similar fabric to cotton?

ReineDeSaba · 23/07/2010 16:34

Really sorry re-job yummy, hope something amazing turns up soon.

good result for bec dress blossom...my pmt is pretty scarey..one great thing about bfing for me..I like your blazer but I don't really wear much structured stuff.

OWW..that's too cute

ltec..I couldnt see your lanvin..any change of a photo of it on your profile when it arrives?

happy birthday 1st Bea..how fast our babies are growing..I'm pretty sure I can remember traceyb first mentions of trying solids on these threads

I have just had this delivered, lovely soft leather and not shiny like the bad photo and no need to assume the terrible poses that the model is throwing(better pics on brandalley but cant link)..80spurple.com/shop/product/103289/598/diesel-women-s-lattem-leather-jacket-grey..It feels lovely but so long since I've worn a leather jacket..have I gone for the right style?please advice..

Re-toxic grandparents..Is anyone out there in the same boat as me..my dad loves the girls..just not so keen on me

ReineDeSaba · 23/07/2010 16:37

hmm..still can't get link to work..it's the grey leather jacket on brandalley if anyone fancies giving me some feedback

notyummy · 23/07/2010 17:28

Fel1x !!!!!

Whistles dresses Site won't let me link to the couple I thought might be suitable, but they are under 'evening dresses'.

one shoulder

stylish

I also suit less fitted on the bottom half and find Karen Millen cuts very flattering for me...that said, some people find them a bit footballers wives, so feel free to tell me it is not you cup of tea!

Aware that these don't fit your budget will have another look.

Any colour preferences?

Hello to everyone else. Thank you for all good wishes and will be back to posting and catching up with you properly tomorrow.

monkeysmama · 23/07/2010 17:29

Tracey I meant to say yesterday, your bird thing is making me frightened to open my windows. Seriously I'd have a heart attack if it happened to me (many years of counselling have made my bird ("p" birds in particular which is helpful in London ) copeable with but I am far from cured.

Excuse my English.

Had lovely lunch with my sister at mum's and sis's dp turned up to surprise dd and allow them (my sister is still one armed) to take her to the park so I could have a little break. In the end we were having so much fun together I went with them but it was nice to have some adult company and to see dd so happy, and to know they were all thinking of me . I know I am lucky. They never see dp though which isn't easy but they all have their reasons.

Cakey I wanted to get tickets to that but dp forgot to order them. He lives a road away from me (Jules, not my dp). We are going for dinner nearby and I may debut the green Reiss dress so if you see me wave!

Carciofi our gym has a nursery part where I may start dropping dd for a few hours. Good idea.

Enough random warbling and not S&B discussion from me.

I am going to try and look at the leather jacket Reine. Is it this one? I am looking for one and the All Saints one I fell in love with and had earmarked for my birthday next month has sold out again in my size. I am wondering if I might need a 14 anyway though as my chest is big though that may change if I ever stop lactating (TMI sorry).

I too am thinking about winter boots. I want a long, pref over the knee, black pair to wear with skinnies and dresses and a biker style grey pair for skinnies, Houli fakes etc. Will biker boots be dated? How does one wear the lace up ones you've been discussing? I have no idea.

Btw - what shoes do you BRats owners wear with them? I have leather leggings and have been looking on line at some fake Rats but am always stumped for what shoes go with.

Cakey I forgot to say that I adore the red Lanvin dress. Will look jaw dropping on you.

blossoming · 23/07/2010 17:41

ollie, when are you having your colours done?

I don't like the print on those tunics, a bit too JB for me, the print on the charcoal cord dress seems a new one for them and less typical.

Like that dress fritzi.

Now, am I being cynical, but I can't remember seeing the leather jacket when the previews came out and there was 20% off available.

Really want it now after all your comments.

Last year bought some a/w boots from them in the summer, and have worn them once and they cost me lots. Bad pregnancy decision. Am worried about making costly mistakes again as my bank account is depleting a bit quickly!

OllieWollieWoo · 23/07/2010 18:06

Just about ready to leave for our trip to UK. Hope everyone has a good week. Stay wise and avid!

ReineDeSaba · 23/07/2010 18:09

Thanks MM..that is indeed the jacket..the All Saints one is great..hopefully they will stock up again in time for your birthday..I meant to say before..how nice is your sis for rocking up ready to babysit complete with arm-in-a-sling..what a sweetpea.
Sorry there are issues with dp and your family..families really are so complex..

I also meant to say the 2 things I find that help me deal with being a fulltime SAHM better are now taking time for myself every day(doing the shred!while baby kicks along and toddler breakfasts)and trying to compare myself with others a bit less..outward appearances of other mums can be deceptive..we all have tough days.

And finally(my whole post dedicated to MM)what on earth is up with your sil..definitely go for the playsuit..

ReineDeSaba · 23/07/2010 18:10

Have a lovely trip OWW and happy purchasing..

blossoming · 23/07/2010 18:31

Yes, have a good time ollie.

PlumSykes · 23/07/2010 19:18

On the subject of Boden, I think this looks gorge in the model shot, but really wishy-washy in the still-life. May take a punt and order to see, I think. If it's the vibrant mustard, it could be so fab.

notyummy · 23/07/2010 19:21

I think the models colouring/hair helps make that coat look great Plum.

FritziGreenEyes · 23/07/2010 19:23

Have fun at the concert cake! Have you decided what to wear yet?

mm - Enjoy your meal with DH. Your family sounds lovely.

Save journey OWW and happy shopping!

notyummy · 23/07/2010 19:38

Right, doing my best to catch up here!

OWW - Have a great trip!

MM - Glad you are feeling better. We all have days when everything gets to much; I have had them both as a SAHm and a WOHM, so I can really identify with what you said.

Tracey - Happy birthday to Bea!

Esher - Enjoy the holiday.

LTEC - Enjoyed the supermarket antics with your DH... certifiable, but VERY funny!

Roma - Def agree that a book helps. I always have two on the go; generally one fairly easy reading and one more taxing. Currently it is this and this.

Apologies to those I have missed out! And thanks to those who have suggested ideas for DHs birthday. Can't post what I have bought as he occasionally reads mn threads (to read high praise for his cakes...!) but the ideas were helpful!!

One delivery today - this dress. Will try it on later or tomorrow and report back.

Just got back from early evening curry with DH and DD. She loves a chicken dansak (in fact, she just loves food. We have yet to find anything that she wont at least have a go at!

rufus101 · 23/07/2010 19:57

MM my heart went out to you when I read your post. I've been there and know exactly how you feel. Glad you're feeling better today.
NY like Cake I'm sure you will triumph. You sound like such a resourceful organised person. We have a saying in Ireland "what's for you won't pass you"! Meaning that when it looks like things are going pearshaped it could be a blessing in disguise. All part of life's rich tapestry.
OWW have a great trip. I'm sure you'll get lots of RL shopping done.
Like the cord dress Bloss and especially love the leather jacket. You'll wear it forever. I currently live in my black biker. Wearing it tonight with purple bodycon dress and Ash studded ankle strap heels. Can't wait to see look on DH's face when I arrive in to pick him up from the office BBQ! We're going out to dinner and he loves this dress!

Apologies. Double post!

ReineDeSaba · 23/07/2010 20:07

rufus
..lucky hubby..outfit sounds fab..my dh will get home from work to find me in giant fluffy robe..was it you out in a hanky dress this week..that outfit sounded fab too..

the end of another thread already..where will the next one take us..hopefully far from naked mils!

rufus101 · 23/07/2010 20:12

I'm sure people will say where does that 40 year old woman think she's going in that outfit, but don't care! DH thinks it's vavavoom!(in the words of Helles!)

bunnymother · 23/07/2010 20:53

Tracey - happy birthday little Bea!

notyummy - so sorry to hear of your job, but I agree w the others re these setbacks sometimes actually turning out to be life changing opportunities in disguise. And in the meantime, there's always a nice glass of wine or two.

MM - oh I hear you on the SAHM drudgery! I am a combination of intellectually bored (agree that some intellectual pursuits are the key) but constantly tired/worn down by the tedium (despite cleaner and babysitter). Yet I want to do this for my little ones while they are very little. I am just being honest about the cost and how some days are awful. Do not buy into whether your life appears easy or hard to others - we all have our challenges that are unique to us.
