Oh be still my beating heart

MarshaBrady · 07/07/2010 11:45

That is so lovely. It can go on the list with the Gucci dress as exxy stuff it would be great if an a&wer had for aw/.

monkeysmama · 07/07/2010 11:46

Stunning bag but I've fallen in love with the cape.

reallygrumpy · 07/07/2010 11:52

That's a great bag tracey!

I've just been catching up on the last w&a thread and, as usual, you lovely ladies have made me smile. I'm in a big grumpy slump at the moment because I've had a missed miscarriage and have to go into hospital tomorrow for an ERPC. Not fun! At least it's only day surgery and I'm planning to take a big stack of magazines with me.

notyummy hope this pm goes ok. I work in central government and we had a rather grim meeting recently about staff cuts, this was just after the pay freeze had been announced-not good.

Sorry for those of you who have nightmare ils, mine are amazing but I think it redresses the balance because my family is a spectacularly disfunctional mess! Poor DH still can't quite believe what's he's married into.

GeorginaWorsley · 07/07/2010 11:55

I have looked at that Kew dress tracey
What is it like on,and is it quite roomy?
I wear small or medium in Kew depending on styles!

Raining here today so am wearing trousers for first time in ages!

traceybath · 07/07/2010 11:56

Oh Reallygrumpy how sad - hope the hospital goes ok. Gentle hugs.

notyummy · 07/07/2010 12:03

Sorry to hear your news really grumpy. Hopefully this thread can prove a distraction - and the opportunity to chat should you wish.

I have just returned from the gym; I try to go from work once a week, otherwise with DH away so much I struggle to fit cardio stuff in. It certainly took my mind off the impending announcement. 675 calories burned in 45 minutes...

And now for lunch!

AllBuggiedOut · 07/07/2010 12:07

So sorry reallygrumpy. I had an ERPC after my first miscarriage. I know it's no consolation, but it was a quick and simple procedure, and physically I recovered really quickly. I'm sure you will too. Will be thinking of you.

Lovely bag tracey

ILs here are grim too, but fortunately we don't see them often and DH shares my view! My MIL never liked me (or DH for that matter) very much, and she died before we had children. FIL is old before his time, self centred and a hypochondriac. DH's sister lives with him and is his full time carer. We see them once a year, if not less. When we do they're distant and not remotely interested in the boys. Sometimes it saddens me, but I don't think they will change, at least not until FIL passes away and then maybe SIL will find a better life for herself.

Off to check out tulpe's tummy tuck thread!

blossoming · 07/07/2010 12:11

So sorry reallygrumpy. I have Red, some good stuff this month. Not so InStyle.

Great workout notyummy.

I fear the Welsh summer has been and gone. Pouring with drizzle (possibly just a Welsh thing??) today.

I love to hear other people's issues with ILs. Makes me feel less alone. I wish my Mil would understand the word 'private'.

hellsbelles · 07/07/2010 12:33

RG - so so sorry. I have been through that and it's very hard. Please be gentle on yourself and remember there will be hormones as well as sadness to contend with so just be ready. I will be thinking of you.

Tracey - gosh how perfect...and how bloody expensive!

bunnymother · 07/07/2010 12:48

Oh reallygrumpy so very sorry to hear that! Oh dear. Hope you get lots of love and tenderness from your DH.

I am also in the same boat re getting along w my ILs better than my own parents, well, actually I get along really well w dad, but have "issues" re mum, so definitely get along much better w MIL than my own mum. MIL has been great, esp if you consider that I "dragged" (not really, we both wanted to come to London) her only child across the globe. She never oversteps the mark, well v v rarely. And she loves jewellery

Tracey - oh, what a lovely, lovely bag! First Gucci bag that I have liked, and what a beauty she is, too!

notyummy - holy smokes re your workout - well done!! Hope announcement is OK.

ABO - how v sad for your SIL to have such an existence. Grim. And sad for your DH that his dad is so self centred. He is missing out on so much by not taking an interest in his grandchildrens' lives.

MarshaBrady · 07/07/2010 13:01

RG I'm so sorry, lots of love from us here.

OllieWollieWoo · 07/07/2010 13:02

Really grumpy - so sorry too for your sad news. Will be thinking about you tomorrow.

Just had one of those experiences that seem to happen to me a lot! Got back from a nice trip to the garden centre and lunch out with DS1 and thought I'd locked myself out. Knew I had left the back door open (no rear access from front of house) so asked the neighbour if I could climb over his wall. He insisted on doing it for me - involving two ladders and lots of huffing and puffing - only to find the cleaner was still in the house all the time - she worked an extra hour cleaning up after the decorator! Neighbour already thinks I am slight mad and this just confirms it! .

traceybath · 07/07/2010 13:16

Blochs have arrived and are lovely! Sizing definitely on the small side but they are so pretty and comfy too.

I love the gucci bag but how £££!

traceybath · 07/07/2010 13:17

MM love the cape too! I think a camel cape could well be on my AW list.

hellsbelles · 07/07/2010 13:25

Tracey - which ones did you get in the end?

OWW - sounds like neighbour has a crush on you! To go to all that trouble!

monkeysmama · 07/07/2010 13:28

So sorry RG. I hope you're ok and will be thinking of you tomorrow. I agree with Hells. Be ready for the hormones to kick in maybe. Sorry.

Tracey I saw one in Zara last year. Camel. Lovely. Looked like Max Mara. I didn't buy it but have been keeping an eye open on eBay.

traceybath · 07/07/2010 13:32

LOL at OWW - neighbour will think you like him

Hells - these ones.

Have just sent DH an email with link to gucci bag as a suggestion for my birthday - am guessing I won't be getting it though . I did entitle the email 'a bike for me' as thought he may then click on the link at least

MM - oooh I will be scouring Zara this AW.

LTEC - can't believe you have to go swimming with in-laws

blossoming · 07/07/2010 13:50

Is Gucci having a new 'moment'?
Love the bag but prices for designer bags have doubled in the last few years don't you think?
I love the horsebit top too. Tucked into slinky pencil skirt. (As if I have that life!!)

Going to see SATC2 in the local cinema tonight with some of the mums. Gotta see it!

OllieWollieWoo · 07/07/2010 14:39

Neighbour is about 60, v nice but very quiet - wife more talkative and a real street gossip! I think I scare him! (I do have a bit of a crush on the Dutch football team coach tho here )

notyummy · 07/07/2010 14:55

Hmm - he's OK OWW, but I think Mourinho is nicer!

VerityBrulee · 07/07/2010 15:45

RG so sorry, be kind to yourself.

Tracey love the bag, but that cape is amazing, saw it in RL last week in Brown Thomas, Dublins Selfridges but about a twenthieth of the size. Exquisite fabric, felt like a cloud. I took a photo with intention of getting my mum to copy it. It would be a doddle to make - no sleeves! Bloss there's your next sewing project

OWW that is exactly the kind of thing that happens to me!

Bloss took your advice about RL shopping, went to Tesco via House of Fraser and got these I have had my eye on them since feb and they were reduced by 2/3, got the last pair. The heel is cylindrical and reminds me of the wooden blocks the boys used to play with when the were little. Going to wear them with opaques in winter as inspired by woman on the Sartorialist.

Anyway that's my budget gone for the month, back to dreaming of my luxe A/W wardrobe

Roman hope your jobs going well, I am picturing you now in a showstopping outfit bossing the boys around in Whitehall.

hf128219 · 07/07/2010 16:36

RG Look after yourself.

notyummy Hope the meeting was not bad news. Good luck.

FritziGreenEyes · 07/07/2010 16:54

Oh reallygrumpy . Hope you gets lots of TLC from DH.

notyummy - Hope your meeting wasn't too bad.

Love your neighbour-climbing-over-fence story, OWW

Gorgeous bag tracey but the price

After reading your stories, I'll be forever grateful for my ILs.

reallygrumpy · 07/07/2010 17:01

hi all, thanks for the kind wishes. To distract me at lunchtime DH and I went to look john lewis to look at curtains and light fittings and I bought this for my bro's wedding in aug. It's a little bit tight but should be fine by aug as I'm planning to go back on the detox and have ordered 'Shred'. It looks better in RL than online and is v well cut. I'm thinking gd strappy sandals.

VB I like the shoes.
