I would like to try these Maje boots but none left.

And these Carven ones but FR40 is a 6. How can shoes stop at a six!? What do the French do?

FritziGreenEyes · 23/07/2010 08:12

Marsha - Love the boots!

tracey - Enjoy your DD's birthday!

Have a pedi booked this morning. Got to run...

monkeysmama · 23/07/2010 08:24

NY sorry about your office closure. Hope you can make it into a positive for you personally.

Roma you're right about having a good book on the go making a difference. I need to start reading more again. I used to be a three book a week woman but now I struggle with that a month. Apart from "Blue kangaroo" type stories . Like in the Cakey household we are big on reading & stories.

Happy birthday to your LO Tracey. Hope you have a lovely day.

Sil suggested mil tell me not to wear "the kind of thing she wore on holiday" as her dh's family will be there too & might not be so "understanding"?! It actually makes me laugh. I'd thought I'd wear a maxi but now I'm so wearing something totally inappropriate. Dh is going through a "don't rock the boat" phase but I've had enough. I already have a list of topics I can't discuss anywhere public with his family; politics, breast feeding, child rearing, food, feeding children. Maybe I should wear a slogan tee & hot pants .

Happy birthday to your LO Tracey.

MarshaBrady · 23/07/2010 08:26

Thanks Frtzi! That reminds me I have a P.G Wodehouse library book collecting dust that is very overdue... eeek.
I need to get through more than half a book before they are due back.

hf128219 · 23/07/2010 08:29

Tracey Happy Birthday to dd!

Fel1x · 23/07/2010 08:35

Morning!
Happy birthday to bea. Tracey, I hope you all have a lovely day.
Mm... Sorry to hear you had such a bad day. I can sympathise with you. Some days it's very hard, but every day brings something different so hopefully today will be a good one for you.
Not yummy... Sorry to hear about your job, must be very worrying for you. Have you other things in mind that you could do job wise? Dh got made redundant last September. He ended up setting up his own company and is much happier now, so these things can sometimes turn out for the best, even if it doesn't feel like it at the tine!
Thanks for the offers of dress hunting for me!

am hoping the sun comes out today, have plans for play, paddle and picnic in the park and it's looking ominously cloudy!
Hope you all have a good day

DolceeBanana · 23/07/2010 09:09

Hello you lovely lot....! And a Happy Birthday to Bea!!! Have a fab day Tracey....

Notyummy - so sorry...but you are brilliant, so all will be well.Keep telling yourself this!!!

Thanks for all your support! I think we can conclusively say that we will all no doubt be better grandmothers than our Mothers (except for a minority of you lucky girls!)...maybe a product of having 'young' mothers....? Us oldies will just be glad to be involved!!!! Hee Hee! I dunno or care...

Tracey, Cake, OWW, Esher, HF, Zembo (sorry if missed anyone) thanks for your words...did manage to enjoy my Big Boys birthday, despite Mothers best efforts - really think she doesn't think! Her loss, as DH says! He had a lovely day, and of course still has a party to look forward to...DD immediately happy its NOT her brothers birthday anymore...because she gets to look forward to hers now! Bless!

DolceeBanana · 23/07/2010 09:13

MM - sorry about your day....hope you are having a better one! We ALL know those days...if its any consolation...and do, do wear the playsuit!!

Have good days ladies....

Just off to make chilli for supper....

DolceeBanana · 23/07/2010 09:14

P.S What does everyone else think to the Phase Eight dress Libra linked to for wedding no 2?

What colour shoes?

PlumSykes · 23/07/2010 09:16

MM, sorry you had such a shitola day yesterday. The monotony and the lack of praise/reward in being a SAHM really gets to me a lot of the time. I know I feel a lot better when I've got some work on, even if it means staying up to all hours to get it done once the DCs are in bed.

What on EARTH does you SIL mean by "understanding"? Did you wear a gimp suit complete with hood on holiday? No? You surprise me. What does she have in mind for the BBQ? A nice floral dress and an M&S court, with a fleece on standby in case it gets chilly? Personally, I think this would be perfect.

LTEC, in answer to yr question re LA, no, I don't know anyone else up for it. Am pretty much out of the loop with such things these days. I just guessed from your clues re Bloss and breton. When are you seeing them?

Cocktails was fun last night, pretty good on the style front too. I only had a couple drinks-including a Mojito for you, Libra-and then nipped hope for more painkillers for tooth, but the others went out dancing until after 2am. Next time, perhaps...

PlumSykes · 23/07/2010 09:26

I like the purple dress, Dolce, very Herve Leger. I'd wear it with nude shoes, I think.

DolceeBanana · 23/07/2010 09:30

Yes, thanks Plum...I like the dress too? Nude shoes sound good...Jigsaw had some fab patent ones but not in my size....

DolceeBanana · 23/07/2010 09:35

MM - My two love the Blue Kangaroo book...!

Cake - similarities with your household re bedtime...we have book and made up stories; then older two trot around their bedrooms until far too late...getting books to read! I just let them do it...figuring at the moment they'll flop when tired...come September though!!!!

The freudian ? means...do you think it (dress) is at all likely to be 'ubiquitous'...fashion horror at someone else wearing said garment on day?

PlumSykes · 23/07/2010 09:35

these look like they have potential, Dolce, and LK Bennett are sure to have some that you like. I never find them very comfy, but other people surely must.

VerityBrulee · 23/07/2010 10:16

You are all up early!

Happy bitrhday Bea! I always feel very nostalgic on birthdays, reliving the big day, but try not to concentrate on the sore bits!

NY sorry about your job, I hope something better comes out of it. I am always in awe of how much you fit into your life, you sound like a whirlwind, I'm sure you'll be snapped up

MM sorry you had a bad day yesterday, I know the feeling so well. I have been a SAHM for 12 years and as much as I love being with my dc,I find the drudgery of the cooking/cleaning/tidying up treadmill is soul destroying. I have a IL event this weekend which always puts me on edge, PLEASE wear a playsuit/hotpants and virtiginous heels combo to wind them up, I always wear my most glam outfits to IL events, just to annoy them up, makes me feel much better. Anyway, your dd is right 'bellisima'

Dolcee glad you enjoyed the party desite your mum.

Cakey Love, love, love the idea of a driver blowing you a kiss in thanks - I must start doing that, brilliant idea I like to think of Marsha as the 'golden child' of W&A I'm sure you have perfect feet, I saw these Nicole Farhi ankle boots in HoF and they are beautiful, gorgeous round toe and the colour is lovely in RL.

Fel1x I hope the sun comes out too, we haven't seen it for over a week, v chilly here this morning. Typical July weather so.

carciofi · 23/07/2010 12:04

Roman, I like the Penelope & Parker bags.

Esher, have a great holiday.

Tracey, happy birthday to Bea!

Libra, for £5 the blazer is worth a try.

MM, I have those days too, though I try to enjoy it as I know I will be back to work in the next couple of years, it can be a bit groundhog day! I go to the gym 3/4 mornings a week and put DD in the creche there, she loves it and we both have a little break. It keeps me sane.

carciofi · 23/07/2010 12:04

NY, so sorry about your job.

OllieWollieWoo · 23/07/2010 12:16

Quickly checking in.
Happy Birthady Bea - I love 1st birthdays! Hoe you are having a lovley day Tracey.
MM glad you are feeling brighter today. Days like yesterday are horrible, I really felt for you, having been there myself on more than one occasion. Re SIL - balls to her quite frankly! My SIL says I wear shoes like her granny used to (bloch style pumps ), I ignore her and wear them on purpose when we meet!

Love the NF boots VB - good find. Hope you get them.
Blossoming - did you order the Bec dress??????
Notyummy - sorry about your job too.

DH had some photos taken at his new job for marketing purposes - he hates having his photo taken and always looks a bit stiff/awkward/embaressed. But these photos are really good - he sent me them in an email this morning and I clicked on the first one and I really felt my heart have a flutter (sorry for gushing like a love struck teenager but honestly he looked v, v handsome! Yum!)

blossoming · 23/07/2010 13:29

I really like this look. Too expensive for what it is?

blossoming · 23/07/2010 13:41

Sorry, just dashed in there.

notyummy, I'm really sorry about your job. You must be devastated.
monkeysmama, glad you're feeling better today, and I hope you 'rock' whatever you're wearing to your IL's.
DH busy last night and the Bec still not ordered. Have chronic pmt today, so it may be the trigger he's looking for to put me in a better mood, (anything better than the snarly wicked witch of the west I'm portraying at the moment!)
Aagh, I've forgotten what I've been meaning to say, might just bow out gracefully and come back in 5 to 7 days.

carciofi · 23/07/2010 13:54

Blossoming, I like it. I have a similar leather blazer bought from Barney's warehouse sale 10 years ago. It is one of my best buys.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 23/07/2010 13:57

Blossom Absolutely love the blazer in mole but wtf is it about boden and spotty/flowery lining will they just STOP. Think it's one of those item of clothings which as carciofi pointed out with just keep on rolling thru the years.

blossoming · 23/07/2010 14:36

Expensive, no? I have 3 things in basket: the jacket, another stripey long sleeve in red and navy and a charcoal cord dress which looks really nice and will be good for my smarter occasions. Where's that 20% off code??
What can I sell next?

carciofi · 23/07/2010 15:00

I don't think it is too expensive if it is good quality leather and it is a classic style. It looks like the promotion has expired, annoyingly. I tried to order these but they are only giving 10% off.

carciofi · 23/07/2010 15:02

OWW, that's so lovely! My first boyfriend was Dutch and v. good looking. Ah, the memories!
