continuing from here and quoting esher!!

OP posts:
bunnymother · 08/07/2010 12:42

Err, I don't actually have a particular outfit lined up for the shoes, but am sure I would get lots of wear out of them. Am thinking Italian wedding in Australia, perhaps? I CANNOT believe that Selfridges sales assistant had the nerve to do that!! Am not surprised it got ugly, that's incredibly rude!

eshermummy · 08/07/2010 12:51

RG - sorry to hear of your loss, hope the EPRC goes smoothly.

Fleecy - that sounds a bit yeuch, hope it goes well and take it easy afterwards too.

Tracey - thinking of you at the funeral today

Carciofi - if you went past the CS church in Claygate yest then you almost certainly drove right past my house

Cakey - Sunday's picnic sounds hideous but I ahve to admit I am dying to hear your description of it . Please promise you will post the gory details on Sunday night, I can't wait till Monday!

Bunny - love the gold LK Bennetts, if they still had any stock I'd order them myself. Pale gold lovely and v versatile.

Things I am dressing for:

tonight is book club and think I am going to wear what I wore to go out for dinner with group of mums from dd's old class last night - no overlap so noone will know!
these trousers with nude silk cowl necked top from H&M and these sandals

Picnic with big group of friends and their dc's in central London on Sat daytime then ball at dd's new school on Sat night.

Drinks with some mums from school next Wed then W&A meet-up!!!!!!!!

MM - what about some harem -y trousers and killer heels and smart jacket/blazer for your drinks thing?

monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 14:16

Esher that is a good idea but I have several problems. I have a great pair of tailored black harems I like a lot. However I have found it hard to find a top that goes with them. Maybe my H&M nude silk top?

And the challenge is this - everyone is suggesting killer heels. But which ones? I am a 6.5 / 7 and can't spend more than £70ish without dp going crazy. I think black or nude.

tulpe · 08/07/2010 14:41

Hey all. Thanks for good wishes today. Predictably, the whole meeting descended into Jeremy Kyle-esque behaviour. It was appalling and actually I had to walk out, leaving DH to deal with it. The teachers were next to useless and just left this silly cow to go all feral and intimidating. I spent the whole morning sobbing and not knowing what to do. I just can't deal with people like that. I am now looking at alternative schools for DS2 as there are so many issues going on in what was a lovely village school when we first arrived 2 years ago. We lost our marvellous head teacher 18 months ago, only to have her replaced with Mrs Passive-Aggressive, and an influx of undesirables (I don't care how snobby that sounds) so I think we have to move on.

I will catch up with all other posts on my return from a much needed soothing cut & blow dry

bunnymother · 08/07/2010 15:24

Tulpe - how upsetting!! Hope you feel much better after your hairdresser's appointment. Not to mention a good night's sleep.

Esher - thanks for shoes feedback. The nearest LK Bennett has at least 2 pairs in my size, so perhaps if you want them, duck into a shop and see. After the day I have had w DD, I am treating myself to them tomorrow. Lovely sounding outfits BTW!

MM - would £125 for these LK Bennett ones be too much? Or how about these Ted Baker ankle boots? A bit different (but they may fail for being patent), but I think v nice w the right outfit.

eshermummy · 08/07/2010 16:06

MM - black harems sound good - I think would look nice with a very simple racerback silky vest (if you have such an item, if not take a look at the Reiss sale) but I think the nude H&M top could also work (is it the same as mine, cowl neck with small cap sleeves?)
As regards the shoes - am sure you must have something already no? I'm thinking peeptoe or caged/strappy rather than necess killer on the heel front.
I've got both dd's crawling all over me now and am out tonight so can't search for you.

Bunny - I was severely tempted by the gold LKB's but popped out earlier and finally gave in to the temptation of this (but slightly smaller and in black ostrich leather) which was half price. It is my birthday in 3 weeks so am going to put any birthday money I get towards it retrospectively but it means I should really be on a no-spend till Aug.

Tulpe - I must have missed something when I did my catch-up as your meeting is news to me - think I've got the gist of what's going on and sounds awful so hope you are feeling better. WEll done on successful tuck too

carciofi · 08/07/2010 16:12

Eshermummy, I would have waved had I known I was passing by! Nice bag.

Sorry you had such an upsetting morning, Tulpe

MM, I am amazed that the Selfridges sales assistant took the shoes out of your hands!

The Hush sale starts on 13th July, if there are any fans here.

traceybath · 08/07/2010 19:21

Hello All.

Tulpe - what a nightmare - a new school sounds a good idea. I just find the whole 'round table' meeting about bullying bizarre.

Fleecy - hope today went ok.

Houlihans arrived but are going back as just a bit odd on my legs really and for that price they needed to be perfect really.

Thanks for all your thoughts today - the funeral was very very sad which of course was only to be expected. There were hundreds of people there though which was lovely and hopefully of some comfort to the family.

Romanarama · 08/07/2010 19:58

Hello everyone. Working ft blardy nightmare. Seriously thought of getting in there with the last chance CS severance package today. Have realised belatedly that I have signed up to slavery to a Minister's ego

So sorry about the mc RG. Hope everyone else is OK. Massively unglamorous office (except me of course ), has put me right off my shopping mojo. Quite apart from the 12hr working day without lunchbreak, plus 2hrs commuting. Hope it's just the pre-summer rush

OK, head down. Hope to resurface sometime.

bunnymother · 08/07/2010 20:00

Eshermummy - ooh, aah what a bag!! I imagine you must be stroking it and cooing right now (or perhaps I am the only one who is a leetle over attached to luxury items). I have a vicarious shopping thrill!

Tracey - hope you feel OK after the funeral, glad that it was well attended. I think it is of comfort to the family (felt v proud of my grandma that she touched so many lives when she had lots of people attend her funeral).

LetThemEatCake · 08/07/2010 21:36

stripe lovers = quite a bargain prob still good for next year?

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 21:54

Cakey your beloved River Island have a red one for same money. Bit brighter with a 3/4 sleeve in blue or red stripes.

monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 22:02

Esher I just don't have a good classic black heel! I have a pair of studded black shoe boots I adore but they aren't a versatile shoe. I keep thinking I should get a designer pair but there are so many other things I want too. Like for my birthday, I want the jacket and bag I linked to a few days ago from dp and I just wouldn't spend that money on shoes if it wasn't a present.

The Selfridges shoe episode was actually 4.5 years ago. Hadn't been with dp that long and he says he saw a whole other side of me ! It happened like I said, he whisked them away for a more important customer. Such a pity. I'd have loved them soooo much.

Tracey thought of you a lot today. And Notgrumpy and Fleecy. Tinned salmon to you all.

LetThemEatCake · 08/07/2010 22:02

have just caught up on thread whilst filling ASOS basket

tracey glad today okay. Funerals are so hard.

tulpe you poor thing. Hope lovely hair has soothed the pain.

nutter kid at nursery at it again today - with Master C this time. Another mum looking on in horror- said to me 'why doesn't someone do something about that child??

Sports day tomorrow so hoping the mad mum is in the mums' race as I am going to kick her puny ass

Roma sorry you;re being overworked without even anything pretty to look at. You coming next Sat? Lots of prettiness there

bunny lovely shoes.

mm amy progress on the tate outfit?

netaporter delivery arrived today. Haven't tried the Blochs yet but James Perse dress a shapeless sack - ordered the 2 and it's ginormous.

might link to asos order to send you all to sleep amuse you

roary · 08/07/2010 22:09

tulpe what a mess.

roman hope work improves soon!

Got [http://m.marksandspencer.com/mt/www.marksandspencer.com/Tops-Knitwear-Limited-Collection-Womens/b/3 42626031?encoding=UTF8&rs=342626031&fromPS=&sort=salesrank&mnSBrand=core&viewID=leaf&pos=emsrchpag Next%20Page%203&showAll=&rh=n%3A342626031&isBrowse=1&page=3&unjtt_redirect this]] today. In plum. It's gorgeous on, v flattering. A new shape for me inspired by some of you ladies!

I also took my breastfeeding enormous boobs to Bravissimo to buy a bathing suit. Needed efficiency and it will be a one season wear. Normally I am about a 36c. Bathing suit is a 32ff !! How I laughed. Poor dh, with FF boobs in the house that he can't play with. It's this one quite cute on!!

roary · 08/07/2010 22:14

Ooh messy link for gorgeous top. It's this.

At our m&s they have swapped the location of the limited collection and the elderlywear. the old dears were wandering through the limited collection lookng aghast.

AllBuggiedOut · 08/07/2010 22:59

Ooh yes would love to see your order LTEC! I had a delivery from Asos today - with some gems and some disasters! I concur with eshermummy that these slides are fab - I'm usually a 6/6.5 but took a risk ordering the 5.5 and they're fine. This top in stone is very thin and see-through but a lovely flattering shape so is a keeper. This cardie in green is a bit shapeless undone, but ties nicely and it's that lovely slubby cotton and a great colour so is also staying. This on the other hand is hideous and I don't know what I was thinking when I ordered it And finally I can't decide about this in peach. It hangs quite well, but the knit is a bit odd - would be better if it was finer. But for £14 might be worth holding on to...

Hope everybody is bearing up after their rough days. Have had a quiet one here after two nights out in a row. DH's turn to be out tonight, although he's just called to say he's stuck in town as Liverpool St is shut

Well done everything! And enjoy the wedding. You will look fab

LetThemEatCake · 08/07/2010 23:38

have fun at the wedding EIE - lovely to go off to an event you've been psyching for for so long with your friend's words ringing in your ears!! Enjoy it all

lovely top roary

great ASOS haul ABO - do you think it's possible to buy just one thing from that site? I've never managed it . Meant to ask, what else did you buy from Liberty?

okay, tonight I ordered:

owl necklace

bangle - slightly new age - puts me in the mind of crystal shops piping dolphin music - not good!!!

this in red/grey - I already know it's going straight back

need a brown belt for several dresses so am trying this and this

handy bag for days when I want to give the pink MJ a rest - also good as carry-on, I imagine?

this in purple for Sunday's bloodbath lovely picnic - very dull but can't risk boob flashing in front of pervy yet pious SFiL

I never wear my studded black glads as they have gold studs so these might take their place

these for my mum - she has not worn heels in years and really wants to. Has had to wear compression stockings for 10 years due to circ probs but I am working on getting it down to just a few days a week with some of my hokey alternative therapies as she hates the wardrobe limitations they put on her - but she is unaccustomed to open shoes and high heels now so a reasonably closed-in shape and low heel might be a good start.

What fun LTEC! I always forget to look at the jewellery when I'm ordering from Asos. It never seems worth placing an order just for the cheapo jewellery, but I then forget to do it when buying clothes. Must try harder... Really like the owl. And the swimsuit looks good too (am thinking for local pool with the kids), although I am struggling to forget this one

What will you be wearing for the non-swimming parts of Saturday LTEC?

I only ordered the Antipodium dress from Liberty - after other people's experiences I really wasn't expecting it to come! I wish I'd ordered the cropped hoodie which was vastly reduced too, but missed out on that sadly.

I also missed out on the dvf beach bag on net a porter (note to self, work on being more avid, less wise...) and thinking about these as an alternative. Any thoughts please?

hf128219 · 09/07/2010 06:44

LTEC That bangle could be Hermes.

OllieWollieWoo · 09/07/2010 08:03

Sounds like yesterday was a difficult day for lots of the W&A's - big (non-MN) hugs to everyone.
Roman - job sounds v demanding - more so than your MIL???? Hope you have a lovely holiday coming up to focus on?
Roary - top looks like a v good buy. V funny re old dears in M&S. The small M&S in the town next to my parents only stocks the range for older ladies!
ABO - love the top.
Everything - enjoy the wedding. You will look fabulous. Post some pics of your outfit!
LTEC - as always a good haul- esp like the bangle and bag.

I've been looking for a navy dress and found this M&S one which has potential: here. Think DH's new job will have a few corporate days out with partners (groan - the last one was a whole day on a boat on a lake apparently....)

The Coast site as a AW preview - I can't wear camel due to colouring but quite like the coat on the first pic here

Playdate with DSs friend here today. Think its going to be a hot one (day, not playdate that is!)

traceybath · 09/07/2010 08:14

Morning - am in bed with coffee and mil has got up with the children - yeay!

The outnet had gots loads of Odabash bikinis/swimsuits.

We're out for dinner with friends tomorrow night and am undecided as to what to wear.

Roary - love that drapey top have sent link straight to my sister as she would look fab in the plum.

LTEC - love your links - i'm waiting for an asos order today - white shirt and cowl neck t-shirt - will link later if they're any good.

Right better get up I suppose . . .

hf128219 · 09/07/2010 08:39

tracey Sounds bliss!

OWW Liking that M&S draped dresss. M&S make me laugh. I asked in our store in Guildford 'Do you stock Limited Collection' they said 'OOH, NOO, It's Guildford, there's no call for it'

EH? How about keeping up with all the local stores?

NY There is also 'Spouse following spouse in the Armed Forces' clauses in the Civil Service. That is why I have been able to do my job for the last 18 years all over the shop - Scotland, England, NI and - EC, and outside EC.
