evening everyone

firstly, RG am so sad to hear of your loss. Can only echo what the others have said: be gentle with yourself and be ready/ warn your dh to be ready for your grief to be exacerbated by hormones. I'm sorry. You sound amazingly strong and brave.

NY sorry to hear of your unsettling news too. Well done on a killer workout.

everything glad you are on the mend.

tulpe fab that you're happy with the results of your TT.

fleecy eeew. You poor love. Hope all well.

Swoonsome camel cape, deffo on my AW wishlist, although will likely go for the Zara copy or River Island (£60 iirc)

Cozy - as EIE says, had to sell mine as it drove me bloody mental. Choo has one though and has had quite some wear from it.

carciofi OMG I think that's the one they go to!!

Re: non-stop picture taking. My ILs are surgically attached to their camera but in all the twee clutter framed photos in their chocolate-box cottage, you will not find even one of me with my children. Loads of them with the children, quite a few of dh with the children, none of me. They don't like to acknowledge me as the mum, I think. Awful thought re the bfing photo mm that is a shocker!! I have had to suffer the indignity of them cooing and stroking head of bfing baby

MM think you can get away with short as dp there?? I always feel I can be a bit 'sexier' (if indeed the sight of my legs is 'sexy' - yuk) with the security blanket of dh making it obvious that I am not on the pull.

On the subject of things to dress for, I've got a few things over the next week, though nothing terribly spesh. Party Sat arvo/ night (with dc) God Squad Sunday (with dc) drinks with gf Monday (after dc are in bed) nursery night out Tues (ditto) and, of course, the double whammy of nursery party and meet up on Sat 17th... yikes.

I agree re dp making mini more acceptable Cakey but fear it's just that bit too short. Might post pic tmrw. What an exciting week you have!!

Had SMS from MIL this evening re birthday and if I'd decided if we can make all/any of her plans. I've told dp he has to deal with it for a while and just say no & to give me some space.

RedBlueRed · 08/07/2010 00:50

Gosh you lot have moved fast! I really need to quit my job and stay at home so I can keep up

blossoming · 08/07/2010 06:54

Lol at swimsuit find ltec!

Good luck today fleecy, tulpe and reallygrumpy.

Sorry to hear your news notyummy.

monkeysmama, what about a carla bruni-alikey fitted dress with pleating from lkbennett and killer heels, or flats like her esp if you'll be on your feet all night?

Critics were too kind to that film. Should have stayed home and shredded.

Have a great day everyone.

bunnymother · 08/07/2010 07:33

Fleecy - ooh, ouch, good luck today! Think of happy times while you are going through the procedure. I thought of making out w DH for pretty much the whole time I had my wisdom teeth removed in the chair.

Reallygrumpy - love the LK Bennett dress!!

MM - what about the dress you wore to the wedding? Heels and jacket w Zara dress also sounds great, esp as think you have fab legs?

Tried to ask for your oh so wise advice last night, ladies, but MN crashed on me. What do you think of these gold LK Bennett shoes? DH thinks yes, but just need a final opinion (BTW they are pale gold, so love the colour, just unsure on strap shapes).

monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 07:45

Good luck today ReallyGrumpy and Fleecy. Also Tulpe & Tracey at the funeral.

Everything just saw your dress, hat and shows. Wow! I love them as individual pieces and together. You'll
look stunning. Where are the shoes from? They're lovely.

OllieWollieWoo · 08/07/2010 08:00

Quick hello as MIL due in 15 mins and i'm sat here in PJs! DH asked her to help out one day a week over the hols - but of course bossy SIL has already booked her for most of the 6 weeks (bitter - moi?)! MIL can never say no and then runs around trying to accommodate everyone so I've just asked her over this am so I can do a big supermarket shop and get some stuff done in the house.

RG & Fleecy - hope you are both ok today.
NY - Like the others, hope everything works out ok job wise without a lot of stress and upheaval.
Tulpe - glad the TT was a success. Re the footie we too will have an orange house and garden by Sunday. DS1s best friend and family are coming over in the morning and DS1 wants only orange food available! Cheese puffs all round then! DH is not normally a footie man but have witness him getting quite into the Dutch games with lots of louds "oooo's" at any near miss! I get around the wearing orange by donning a coral top or jumper!

Just ordered a lovely cream chandelier for our new bedroom - not normally a big fan of them but this one is v nice (cream shabby chic style) and will look good with new wallpaper and high ceilings. Was thinking about getting 2 small linen covered chairs as well (to throw clothes on etc!) to replace the wooden framed chair we have which DH had at Uni! Not sure if that would look a bit odd tho - do you have chairs in your bedroom that you don''t actually sit on????

Have a good day all.

bunnymother · 08/07/2010 08:14

OWW - yes, although the chairs end up covered in clothes. Bad DH...

notyummy · 08/07/2010 08:17

Good luck RG and Fleecy. And Tracey and Tulpe at the funerals.

LTEC - loving the spiders web!

HF - thanks for the pointers. I suspect the location I would offered because of Dept/grade is London. If I could do 2 days a week at home/2 days commuting, I would consider that. Just to complicate things, DH is starting staff college end Aug and therefore we will be moving next July when he is finished and posted....but we wont know where to until around next May. In an ideal world he could get a job somewhere around/in London and then a trasfer to London would be ideal. Or I accept a package and look elsewhere - probably back to consultancy.

Dont won't to share worries with poor DH; he is stressed himself as is running a major military exercise involving lots of Ministers - i.e he has to brief them and then assess how they perform in different scenarios and tell them how rubbish they were!

What did cheer me this morning ladies was a good old sing along on the way into work. Giorgio Moroder/Phil Oakey, 'Together in Electric Dreams' followed by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, 'Islands in the Stream' The radio was spoiling me - cheesetastic!!

I promise to find my fashion mojo again soon and post some links rather than whinges.

blossoming · 08/07/2010 08:30

Will be thinking about you in the funeral today traceyb.

I always think about those magical days when I realized I'd found 'the one' and he felt the same when I have an ordeal to get through!

monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 10:57

Anyone have any thoughts on these? I need some plain (ish) black heels for a number of upcoming dos and I've looked at these a few times.

bunnymother · 08/07/2010 11:36

MM - they are certainly glossy and sleek, but to my eye they are a trend item (ie a copy of the YSL I think it is?), so not really my thing. But if you like the shape and don't care that not "classic", they are a lovely shoe.

Any thoughts on these gold LK Bennett shoes?

monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 11:40

I think I have lost my footwear mojo. I like these. Could they be worn with this (with out without a belt as it doesn't have a belt attached) and this?

The silver dress needs taking in but was wondering if it would be a good dress for the do next week. Smart but still a bit different.

monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 11:42

Thanks Bunny - I think I've decided against them now. I think they're a bit cheap looking and I don't actually like patent.

I like the gold shoes though I am not the best person to comment as I've never owned a pair of strappy shoes. They look nice though. What are they to wear with?

bunnymother · 08/07/2010 11:46

No no no, MM, you have not lost your footwear mojo just because I don't love something. The Queen is funkier than me! The Nine West shoes are OK, but the Reiss silver dress is really beautiful! My personal taste is shoes like the NW ones, but not the NW ones (I find them a bit "heavy" for a strappy shoe).

monkeysmama · 08/07/2010 11:54

bunny. The real problem is that cheaper shoes just look, well, cheaper. I would like a classic pair of black heels. I had a stunning black YSL pair in my hands 3 years ago in the Selfridges sale. They were an object of beauty and I was going to treat myself to them. Then the sales assistant came and removed them from my hand and gave them to a small Japanese woman who was in front of me in the queue and had masses of purchases. I made a fuss, it got ugly, she got the shoes. I want those ones back.
