Morning ladies. this Vero Moda top has just been delivered. Its lovely on - v easy to wear top so keeping. See Notyummy I can do bargains too

Have lovely days everyone - the sun's shining here.

FritziGreenEyes · 16/07/2010 08:25

everything - Thanks for info re the bag.

Welcome diw19!

Roma - Nooo, don't leave us!

No time to catch up with thread properly at the moment. Have a great time at the meet up tomorrow!!!

traceybath · 16/07/2010 08:45

Morning!

Cain - when do you start new job and are you a mountain biker then? We were out for dinner with friends last weekend and they're keen mountain bikers too - my eyes did glaze over a little I must confess.

Romana - so glad job is going well and not at all surprised that they think you are fab - just dip in and out and hopefully you can do a meet up later in the year too.

DIW - you see I have ridiculously small feet so struggle to get shoes that fit.

Sun almost shining here but still very windy - brrrr.

Oh and I am still fat - you're going to see me tomorrow and think 'poor girl - she's so deluded thinking she's a size 8'.

blossoming · 16/07/2010 08:45

Sunny you say? Sunny??
Torrential monsoon type rain here. So bad I may wear wellies and stadium squall to the shops.

Wore my fly boots yesterday but my feet got wet. Anyone know of a waterproof alternative? I know they're a bit of a cliche but they suit my lifestyle, if not my environment!

I want to buy new hunters as mine are brown. So not my colour any more!

On a positive note, my 7s from 8 years ago finally fit again so I'm glad they didn't sell on eBay, just as a marker! Don't understand how exactly as I haven't lost any more weight since I tried them last. Must have toned up instead!

Hope you all have lovely days. Is it today your scan is bunnymother? How lovely and exciting!

carciofi · 16/07/2010 09:21

Blossoming, maybe look at Timberland?

Fleecy, do you have a favourite jeans seller on eBay? The one time I bought high-end jeans on eBay, they were fakes.

Hi DIW.

Roma, glad the job is going well.

Cain, hope you get some sun for your bbq.

It is quite nice here today. I am still in my PJs (Hush, of course!).

Esher, am also considering the Barbour International.

Bunny, hope the scan goes well, very exciting.

Where are my compatriots, Verity and Rufus??

I am free any weekend in Oct but might be a bit nervous to meet you style mavens!

bunnymother · 16/07/2010 09:40

Morning!

Tracey - well, you will all think "err, you aren't meant to be that big at 3 months"...

Roma - hi!

Yes, scan is this afternoon - DH and I are really excited! Will keep you posted...

monkeysmama · 16/07/2010 09:49

Popping in v quick to share my shame.

Book club. I tidied and filled house with flowers and put out tasty snacks etc. All good. Except dd refused to go to sleep without me and screamed sporadically until 10ish when dp could cope no longer and I had to bring her down and they all politely left. Not before we'd all spotted three mice playing happily in the living room. Oh what a successful evening!

traceybath · 16/07/2010 09:53

Oh MM - what a nightmare but it did make me laugh!

Mice are a nightmare though - get the man out from the council to purge them.

VerityBrulee · 16/07/2010 09:53

Just popping in to say I hope you all have a fantastic meet up, I'm v I hope rain doesn't stifle your style! It rained so heavily here last night I couldn't sleep. Skylights in bedrooms are a curse when it rains heavily the noise is dreadful.

My absolutely stellar W&A buy is my houlihan/balmain lookalikes Of course I couldn't get the RI ones as this thread caused a sell-out of them, but got a pair in Zara, and honestly I have LIVED in them! They go with everything from pretty blouses to bretons, heels, glads and ballerinas. I LOVE them and I know I would never have considered even trying them on had it not been for the W&A recommendation.

My favourite recent purchase has been Carciofis navy white co dress, as soon as the sun comes out it goes on Very tempted by the navy poncho, but need to resist the temptation. DH's 40th next week and I am planning on taking the 5 of us to Paris for a week at Oct half term. Have just found flights and looking for an appartment to rent now. Very excited as I love Paris and haven't been for ages. Planning a big splurge for dd in Bonpoint In the meantime I need to save, save, save.

Oooh, Cakey feel for you and your space. I live in v close proximity to my mum, and nearly had a nervous breakdown in the beginning. I had to adopt a very zen-like approach to survive At least you'll have a bit of distance now.

Marsha I love your life - loving the idea of staying in a 'spare' house at my parents Your 'Will I, won't I' MJ boots are one of my favourite W&A moments.

Roman glad your job is going well, hope you get some shopping time soon. Speaking of super high powered women, did anyone read the US Vogue profile of Natalie Massanet. She was saying that all the NAP women are too busy to go to the hairdressers so cut their own hair, and she gave the interviewer a demo of the MN haircut! I think that's hilarious, they are all so glamorous and polished but snip away at their layers in the staff loos

God, forgotten half the things I wanted to say and dcs bickering now, but hope you all have fab weekends

VerityBrulee · 16/07/2010 09:59

Meant to say, welcome diw,

go for the animal print esher,

good luck with scan bunny,

sorry about the mice MM mice made a nest in my dolls pram when I was little, I haven't liked them since

bloss I was in wellies yesterday as well want my flip flops back on!

MarshaBrady · 16/07/2010 10:09

Hey Verity I love Bonpoint, especially for girls, Enjoy!

(soz the spare house thing, it's just an empty old beach house but it does mean we don't have to share space too much. We are too loud, the annoyance is that it is so far away otherwise I would live there for the holidays!).

I am really suffering not having flat shoes. The suede coral pumps are showing their cheapness and are not long for this world. Plus they are a size too big and it's hard to walk.

I need really nice flattish shoes, really luxurious to wear with jeans. Am going to keep looking.

This weather feels a bit ummm Octoberish I wonder if it will feel hot again in August.

MarshaBrady · 16/07/2010 10:10

Oh and love Paris too of course, especially in Autumn. So beautiful!

roary · 16/07/2010 10:21

Hi all
Mastitis has cleared mainly so I'm very glad - fortunately for me it's more like a very bad flu than super painful to feed, so it doesn't affect my BF. I crept on to that thread about class and breastfeeding the other day and ran away in terror, such a shame. It's an interesting conundrum especially as 1. it's true, according to the definitions of class used in the research and 2. it's not true elsewhere, like in Canada and AUstralia. But the debate devolved into an absolute bunfight. Silly, because really, we should all be supporting each other to do what works so they are happy and their children are happy. .

Was feeling very down yesterday as was cooped up in the house all day waiting for things to be picked up/dropped off. So I made these. MAKE THEM. It'll only take you 15 minutes or so and you will thank me. ALthough Mr Dukan won't.

We are now having a dinner party for 8 tonight (has grown) and DH has had to go to London for work unexpectedly so I am about to start a cooking marathon. I love cooking and have had no time to do it, and lovely nanny has taken BOTH kiddies this morning so I can Play Chef. It does make me feel slightly Lady of the Manor though.

Will think of you all tomorrow.

What about A&W things that you covet but missed out on? My A&W purchase that got away was Carciofi's red DKNY dress, which I checked out with but was out of stock. Still think of it wistfully. ANd of course the ANglomania as it is UNBREASTFEEDABLE. Am saving up for a fab post bf dress instead. But it will be a while as fed DD till 17 months and it would seem unfair to give DS less!

Maybe I should post an AIBU "to stop breastfeeding so I can wear Vivienne Westwood". [Grin]

Apuski was your weigh in today? Hope all went well.

MarshaBrady · 16/07/2010 10:58

Ooh enjoy your cooking and children free time roary! Put some lovely music on and swan in the kitchen stress-free .

These ankle boots were on sale once weren't they. Damn, but I think I'll go for AW ankle boots with jeans. Let's face it when school goes back it will be AW anway.

blossoming · 16/07/2010 11:18

I dare you roary!!

I'm cooking too: have made bara brith (welsh teacake thing), am making chicken curry for lunch as dh wfh. One I used to make in 2002 as homage to the jeans fitting again! Then as it's the last day of term I'm making tiffin(?), choc biscuit cake and pizza for tea!

I got completely soaked this morning but my feet were dry. Love hunters and jeggings! So next buy will be black hunters and waterproof coat TO MY ANKLES!!

Whelk · 16/07/2010 11:29

Hello Ladies! I haven't been on for ages.I just wanted to say have a lovely meet up

Work and life has been so hectic! However I have managed to be considerably better dressed than normal thanks to the influence of this thread and I have felt so much better for it! It has been just the push I needed I think, to wear what I have always wanted to

Just recently I have been wearing my white skinnies and leopard print scarf with a variety of tops as the weather has cooled slightly (thanks Tracey)

Enjoy tomorrow all

blossoming · 16/07/2010 11:31

Meant to say carciofi, you always sound very stylish to me, or is that because we have similar tastes?

Ooh the sun's out! Hope it is with you too verity.

OllieWollieWoo · 16/07/2010 11:32

Those biscuits looks lovely - thanks Roary. I make a really easy dessert when I have people over - Chocolate Chip Cookie Roulade. So easy. Dip chocolate chip cookies in a strongish coffee mix (coffee and hot water), sandwich together with whipped cream and form a log shape (can also form 2 lines of cookies) and cover with whipped cream. Dust top with cocoa and add a few chocolate covered coffee beans. Don't do what I did tho the first time I made it - dipped all the cookies first before assembling and was left with a great big mush! Do one at a time, add a bit of cream and add to log. A winner every time!

The Fay Ripley pavlova which uses just 3 egg whites never fails me either!
Chocolate biscuit cake sounds yummy Blossoming.

In jeans here too for the first time in weeks! How depressing!

carciofi · 16/07/2010 12:17

I spoke too soon as we got wet going to the library.

Paris in Oct will be wonderful, Verity. I haven't been there in ages.

Those biscuits look good, Roary. I looked for the dress for you in Harvey Nicks last week but they are sold out. Maybe you could find it on a US website?

Thanks Blossoming, I probably live in my jeans too much. I think we do have similar taste.

Ugh, mice! I detest them.

You are all making me hungry so I am now going to bake banana bread.

traceybath · 16/07/2010 12:41

Verity - Paris sounds lovely! And I love bonpoint - Bea has a couple of bits I've bought at Bicester but do love looking at their website for inspiration. I love Bea in grey and all those plum colours they do lots of.

DH working from home at the moment - pretty stressful as he's really busy and doing loads of conference calls so I'm spending the whole time telling the dc's to be quiet.

Bloss - weather still grim here. I have navy hunters and bought a timberland duvet coat last winter in the sale which was fab for the cold and wet. I also have a barbour rain hat as just don't get on with hoods.

Am also wearing jeans - too cold for anything else.

Roary - glad the mastitis is getting better. I tend to steer clear of the bf/ff threads - am always happy to offer advice if its asked for though as seem to have spent the last however many years bf.

bunnymother · 16/07/2010 13:13

DH working from home - not a good idea for us. DD went looking for DH, then hammered on the door till he let her in, then wouldn't leave. This is also why he eats his weekend breakfast locked in her playpen w her on the outside. She is a papa's girl and he can't get any peace if she sees him. I actually love it, gives me a break!

Cain - thanks for the congratulations!

MM - oh God, you poor thing, so annoying that your DD wouldn't settle!! Isn't that just the way. And I feel your pain on the mice front.

Bloss and Verity - weather here is not good. Quite cool and v windy (I loathe the wind). Naturally I also got rained on this morning. But on a positive note, got a beautiful baby pink fine wool scarf from local charity shop that was £2.50. Oh how wise. I put it on straight away. Was esp pleased as it picks out a colour in today's earrings. Oh how sad.

Have to run to scan, but will "talk" to you all later!

traceybath · 16/07/2010 13:27

Good luck at scan Bunny!

AllBuggiedOut · 16/07/2010 13:38

Good luck with the scan bunny

It's so hard keeping up here isn't it roman? I try to do more than dip in and out but eveybody else moves so quickly! But don't leave altogehter, please! Although I don't feel that I am an integral part of this thread, I do feel that people know me well enough for me to be able to offer opinions on shopping when I can, and to give me advice when I ask for it, which is, after all, why most of us joined!

On the subject of which, LTEC I am following in your footsteps with the purple swimsuit and owl pendant, both of which are great, thank you! I am undecided on the Hush silk maxi. The colour is lovely, but it's above the ankle which I think might be a bit too short

LetThemEatCake · 16/07/2010 13:44

oooh, enjoy seeing your wee bub for the first time bunny!!

mm don't despair - in my dream, yes my dream - I am one of those saddos (like *bunny8 ) who has had a dream about our meet-up - we met in your kitchen and it was heaven. So beautiful. So tasteful. So elegant!! Not a mouse to be seen, nor a peep to be heard from gorgeous dd. So let's live in that parallel universe for now

must dash as have to make sweet potato felafels for tomorrow but will be back later. we're all quite domesticated today, no?

roary glad mastitis has vamoosed, did you ever buy a Travelwrap in the end?? I've just guest-blogged on their site.

verity have missed you. Paris in October, oui oui!!

BTW am also very fat so just don't look at me tomorrow. sod's law that I am also starving today. Ugh.

roma missing you too, please check in from time to time.

Hello whelk!!

really, where is vin?? and mrsJ?? and fel1x?? please come back!!

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 16/07/2010 13:50
