diw19 · 15/07/2010 22:05

Well it was nearly DIY because I have size 8 (42) nearly size 9 feet. At the age of 19 in Russell & Bromley I was told by a sales assistant to do it myself when I was struggling to force my feet into a size 7.5 when I knew that I was an 8 at the time (two DC later have made them grow, much to my disappointment).

So DIW is Do It Woman and is my prompt to stop worrying about the size of my feet and just get on and ask for the correct size!!

See, told you it was boring but works for me!

Two DC, 5 and 3.

DolceeBanana · 15/07/2010 22:06

Spooky Cake - just wondering where you were...

gosh 2 runs in a day...v impressive...where are you weight wise now then...you must be at your target....

diw19 · 15/07/2010 22:07

LTEC - tis me!!

DolceeBanana · 15/07/2010 22:09

diw19 - ahhh...comprenez...

Your feet must mean you are long in leg tho', lucky you!

OllieWollieWoo · 15/07/2010 22:10

Good background to MN name diw19! I really must get around to changing mine - think I would feel slightly strange at a meet up saying in RL "hello I'm OWW"!

blossoming · 15/07/2010 22:13

My feet grew too with pregnancy. Good to have another bigfoot in our midst.

LetThemEatCake · 15/07/2010 22:18

diw we are similarly afflicted proportioned, foot-wise. Glad to see you here Told you that you;d be more than welcome.

DB am holding steady at around 9st9, target is more like 9 but am happy(ish) to hold off on trying to achieve that until colder weather - my clothes are too cheap to be bothered about having them altered. Also still bfing so need to take that into consideration

OWW think this thread started mid-to-late jan, so yes, 6 months!!! Good going, hey!!

Utterly confused now - you move quickly ladies!

Dad is doing OK. Neurology appt tomorrow AM. But Mum finding it hard to keep an eye on him all the time. Very tiring as they have a 4 storey house. Anyhoo we go up tomorrow morning - by train for a change. 1st Class cheaper then driving/plane this time!

I love this 'Dress like a woman' theme for AW.

Esher Debut your animal DVF. I really like that dress.

LTEC Tricky one re what to wear. Change en route and dump bag at station?!

traceybath · 15/07/2010 22:24

I have booked first class train tickets - only £10 more than standard class - bizarrely was much cheaper to buy 2 singles than a return though.

Right - am thinking - skinnies, white governess blouse (harking back to the embryonic stages of this thread), pleather jacket and crumpet leopard print scarf.

Thats for saturday of course

LTEC - I asked a mum at school if she worked in fashion and it was most definitely meant as a compliment.

HF - have a lovely weekend and birthday.

hf128219 · 15/07/2010 22:24

diw Like the story!

Zembo · 15/07/2010 22:24

Tracey sounds like we have the same dress mine has a button at the back so you can put the side bits up or down (yes I know, sounds a bit ) Hopefully you'll know what I mean. I like the thought of us independenly buying the same thing.

Will keep my eye on the sweedish hasbeen site - when I last looked didn't have the colours I wanted.

Anyway the white co cape has been purchased - I must learn to do the delayed gratification thing

LTEC 2 runs in one day is amazing. If my mum was staying with me I'd consider it though as not sure I could be as generous as you are re: sharing my personal space!

Weclome diw19 - its much more fun to join in than lurk.

I've been looking at these sandals but can't justify buying after all my recent spending. Anyone got a 50% off code ?

blossoming · 15/07/2010 22:26

Heels and accessories in your handbag ltec? Flats for nursery party?

LetThemEatCake · 15/07/2010 22:28

zembo I shouted at my mum tonight for that very reason. Which was one of the reasons I went for another run - SPACE!!!!!!

OP posts:
eshermummy · 15/07/2010 22:31

am off to bed laydees as want to try and make gym in the morning.

Cakey - no back ruching on my zara trench - has really rather ridiculous puff shoulders though . Really regret not getting a more trad one with no quirks but when I bought it it was all they had, obv the very next week they bought in loads of much nicer non-silly sleeved ones . But was only £60 and I have had lots of wear from it but am thinking of upgrading to a better trench next A/W or poss a barbour international, not sure yet.

LetThemEatCake · 15/07/2010 22:32

bloss I think I may have to wear flats on Sat night as otherwise will feel like big lump next to all the petite ladies in attendance.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 15/07/2010 22:36

Does anyone check out the magazine thing on NaP? I love the look this model has for AW (obv as she is a model and gorgeous, but the clothes too)

Yes kudos for living with your mum LTEC, the parents stay in a hotel when they come here and I in a spare house with them, my mother is quite strong in character. Still I end up hanging around their hotel a lot when they do.

welcome diw19

Hf it's my birthday next week, cancerian? On Wed but going out on Friday, have booked babysitter woohoo (but still got to take ds2 I dislike expressing).

hf128219 · 15/07/2010 22:36

LTEC Show your authority woman

Esher I have that Zara mac - know what you mean about the puff sleeves! I also have put my hands through both pockets.

LetThemEatCake · 15/07/2010 22:42

mum moving out tomorrow, I should add.

Not bc I shouted at her - was planned anyway. Just a bus ride away. Still on hand but not quite so in-yer-face.

Oooh, MB, another b'day, exciting!! how old, do you mind me asking?

OP posts:
diw19 · 15/07/2010 22:42

Thank you for all the lovely welcomes, made my day!!

Now to a quick question before I disappear for my sleep. 10pm is my limit these days....

  1. How do I do links with comments rather than all the website blurb?

Zembo - am loving those sandals. I can't find any summer sandals in 41.5/42 so ended up buying two pairs of Pretty Ballerinas today in the sale.

Night all, sweet W & A dreams....

hf128219 · 15/07/2010 22:48

Marsha Yes, a crab too. Mine is Monday.

That SR coat reminds me of the S&B chat with Trinny and Susannah - Trinny suggested to Traceybath to get an old leopard coat and get it re-conditioned. Good advice I think.

bunnymother · 15/07/2010 22:58

Before I go to bed:

Welcome diw19!

Notyummy - great bargainous purchases!

Esher - animal DVF dress is awesome - do wear it on Sat!! We are the prefect audience. Like KG Avas best of your shoe order.

AllBuggiedOut · 15/07/2010 23:35

Evening all - so much end-of-term stuff happening here I am rarely getting to the computer this week! Hopefully will calm down next. Just wanted to say that I was mightily concerned by all the talk of head-to-toe black on Saturday - yay to esher in the DVF! Go for it ladies!

Romanarama · 15/07/2010 23:40

Hello! I've missed a zillion pages and can't catch up - too tired. I may have to bow out gracefully I also don't shop anymore as have no spare time at all. Working flat out and lucky if i get a sandwich at my desk. Not even time for nap. And im not seeing the kids at all really in the week so at the weekends i do stuff with them - not shopping. Good way to save money!

But work is going well, everyone is pleased with me, so that's good, and the job I'm doing is very unlikely to be culled.

I can't come on Saturday as will be at the seaside, but have a lovely time. Good excuse to dress up I'd say.

RedBlueRed · 16/07/2010 01:23

Gosh, well I did give my notice on Monday and have been off Tues, Weds, thurs but you know when you suddenly have time to catch up on your Things To Do? All of a sudden it has escalated and I have been busier than had I been at work!

ReallyGrumpy, very late but want to say so very sorry about your mc. I hope you are ok. Glad the Cozy silk and cashmere cardi is lovely, Gorgeous colour.

NY I hope you get some good news on the job front very soon.

Fleecy hope the op was helpful, my mother has IBS and manages quite easily although whenever we go out for a meal you can tell she is clocking nearest 'facilities' just in case. I like the animal hareem bandeau jumpsuit but just know I couldn't pull it off!

Romanarama I hope work eases up on you, you will have to influence your colleagues to up their game glamour-wise.

LTEC lol impressed by your sports day win.

hf hope your dad is ok now. How very worrying. Happy Birthday!

And Happy Birthday to MB too.

Congratulations Bunny, wishing you a very easy pregnancy!

Apuski - lovely photo of Alexander. Well done you.

Thanks for all the congratulations on my new job. Tracey, I think you are right about my wardrobe. Also I am with you re botoxing of frownlines. I'm 35 but look at least 50.

Everything, love your wedding outfit. Agree with all comments that you looked absolutely gorgeous. Shame it doesn't always occur to the men to mention it!

MM I hope you have got your footwear mojo back. I like some of the Next boots for the winter.

I hope you all have a lovely time at the meet up. I will be having a BBQ for ds' birthday (actually Tues) but will try to ensure a nod to elegance and will certainly raise a glass to you all- Slainte Mhath!

The weather here has been horrific so I'm hoping it brightens up for the weekend otherwise we will all be huddling under the gazebo at best, seeking shelter in the house at worst.

Hello diw19!

My fav W&A buy would be the Oakley handbag someone linked to after I sent back my hasbeens. I decided to go for it and I love it.

Esher wear the animal - if you can't with the W&A ladies when can you?!

Well that is my catch up - I have deleted whole paragraphs of waffle about mountain biking etc to bring the size of my post down.

Thank you for all the lovely links and lots of smiles
