In reference to a question by ltec the other day.

OP posts:

Sadly not Carciofi. Got to order on line really. Dd is a nightmare shopper ATM and sure silk dress would get tugged and ruined.

carciofi · 14/06/2010 19:56

I feel your pain! My DD is the same.

traceybath · 14/06/2010 19:58

Aaaggghhh! DS1 been naughty at school and its sports day tomorrow and he pulled one of the girl's skirt up and now I'm worried her parents are going to shout at me. God - he has been such a monkey although has realised the error of his ways and I keep reminding myself he's 5 and not a delinquent yet.

Anyway - what am I going to wear to sports day? Has to be bf friendly as stopping that not going terribly well.

MM - think that bra would work - certainly about the best strapless I've tried in terms of quite low at the top if that makes sense.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/06/2010 19:58

cain - I think I'm a warm autumn. The link is great!

carciofi - Where is the black? Can't find it. Maybe I'm colourblind and someone else should do the test for me

RedBlueRed · 14/06/2010 20:13

Fritzi, re Autumns wearing black:

Note: You can look stunning in black (especially if you have red hair) but you have to top it off with jewelry and/or makeup colors strictly from your Autumn palette.

I am a soft Autumn and also v glad I can still wear black, especially considering I have just found my Maxi - in black.

carciofi · 14/06/2010 20:15

Tracey, aww, he won't be a delinquent! What is the weather going to be like tomorrow?

Fritzi, there is a note: You can look stunning in black (especially if you have red hair) but you have to top it off with jewelry and/or makeup colors strictly from your Autumn palette.

RedBlueRed · 14/06/2010 20:18

Tracey I'm fairly sure Ds got into trouble for a similar misdemeanor when he was around 5 - it didn't become a habit so chances are your DS1 is not a delinquent either!

As for the outfit, depends how much parental participation is required?

AllBuggiedOut · 14/06/2010 20:19

I am liking the python L&L scarves on cocosa, especially the blue.

traceybath · 14/06/2010 20:22

LOL at Cain and Carciofi's cross posts with their autumn palettes .

I am so not taking part in any races - the parents take it way too seriously. Luckily I'm normally pregnant of have baby on hip so get to be excused.

Think weather going to be like today so a bit dull with the odd bit of sunshine - so probably a variation on rolled up skinnies and a pretty top.

carciofi · 14/06/2010 20:24

I pinched my PE teacher's bum when I was 5. He asked my mother if I had Latin blood!

FritziGreenEyes · 14/06/2010 20:31

cain and carciofi - I obviously haven't studied the website properly, ahem. Thanks, I got the message . I would love to have stunning red hair, but mine is just average brown/chestnut...

traceybath · 14/06/2010 20:31

LOL Carciofi - I hope he was a good looking PE teacher.

This thread is quiet today - where is everyone. I hope Romana is not sat rocking quietly under the stairs - more likely she's on a flight to London.

LTEC - where art thou?

FritziGreenEyes · 14/06/2010 20:33

Yes, LTEC come back! We won't mention the World Cup, promise!

carciofi · 14/06/2010 20:36

I think he was wearing the shortest of shorts (it was 1977) and I couldn't resist.

Fritzi, I have the same hair colour as you. I missed out on the Irish cailín red hair.

hellsbelles · 14/06/2010 20:50

Running in quickly as DH is patiently waiting to watch 24!

I've ordered a few other bits and will link later! Carcifio - let me know if you change your mind!

Esher....alas no. they are new season! However was it you that was after these - they appear to be.

Tracey - they don't seem to have the ankle ones you liked (I just thought I'd checked)

Better go! Hx

hellsbelles · 14/06/2010 20:51

err! Please excuse the 'Hx' - I had just texted my Mum and signed off like that so I did it automatically. Sorry.

cupparooibos · 14/06/2010 21:03

carciofi (and everyone who's traveling and wondering what the shopping will be like . . . !) -- Label Finder is quite useful.

carciofi · 14/06/2010 21:07

Cupparooibos, thanks for that.

Thanks Hells, that is very nice of you and I am tempted but will hold off until Friday and it will still be there if it is meant to be!

hf128219 · 14/06/2010 21:16

Carciofi this may be useful Bloss Thanks for the idea of a short shift dress, eyeliner etc.

OllieWollieWoo · 14/06/2010 21:16

Is it me or have the sales started a bit earlier this year?

No shopping news - but I made this Nigella dish for dinner and it was really nice! here

That website is a good one Cuppa!

hf128219 · 14/06/2010 21:22

One of the reasons the sales have started earlier this year is to allow for a 'pre-Ramadan shopping spree'- I am sure I read that somewhere. Ramadan is early this year.

blossoming · 14/06/2010 21:41

Gosh I am freezing. I hate the fact that the sales have started and that stock is low everywhere before summer has begun.
I'm ready for good weather, but I seem to be in a variation of my winter/spring stuff.
Also my Paige skinnies are baggy. That's the problem with buying stuff post baby. They're a good colour for every day but out of stock now.
Am miserable with cabin fever having been home all day!

Hope you had a better day romanarama! (That's made me count my blessings!)

I spent £200 in H&M and New Look today having spent almost the same there last week. Feel a bit compared to Hells. I love my chinos somuch I bought two more pairs. Got a lovely little embellished cardi in a creamy gold colour I've been looking for for a few years-will only wear few times each summer so didn't want to spend a fortune. Got a lovely black vest with metal stud detail which looks far dearer out of the shop. Got four more plain black bandeaus. Great for general wear. Few more scarves. I could probably circle the world with my scarves now.

Tracey have you tried any of the All Saints jackets? Am seriously considering one myself. will order and try bra. How did you find sizing?

Off to Primark tomorrow to buy some red jelly thong shoes. Was going to splash out on chloe ones but am
so pleased they can be mine for £1.50.

RedBlueRed · 14/06/2010 21:58

Fritzi, sorry about the cross posting! At least you know you can still wear black though.

eshermummy · 14/06/2010 22:02

Don't know where Cake has got to - am assuming she is either with her mum or, taking advantage of having her mum around and legging it all over town of an evening!

Keep meaning to say, thanks to all of you who recommended the Harry Eastwood book - have had it about a month now and have so far made the coffee & walnut cake, the banana bread, the light choc cake and today the victoria sponge - really pleased with all of them although I also seem to have recently gained 5lbs which is proving hard to shift

Hells, thanks for checking the Louboutins for me, hadn't noticed they were new season, hey-ho.....

Not currently coveting any knee boots - bought 2 p[airs last A?W that are hardly worn - too much snow, spent all last winter in my trusty Romika russian cosmonaut boots .

But I do like these - are these the ones you are coveting Tracey? Roman - hope you are coping with your MIL. There's no way I could deal with mine for that length of time.
In answer to your question, DH works in finance (but is not a banker) and for us, the last 2 years have seen a sizeable reduction in income which finally seems to be righting itself now. DH seems to think we (as in us personally) have seen the worst of the recession and are pretty much out of the woods but that the public sector will now bear the brunt for a while to come, so yes, if we were public sector we would definitely be feeling less secure than we do but equally don't think the public sector has gone through the same pain as the private sector in the last 2 years so think it's just the same coming around to everyone just over a different timescale ifswim.

Did my colours and think I'm a spring (light or warm not sure) - as suspected I can't wear white or black next to my face and I think I'm supposed to wear gold rather than silver. Bring on the bling
