How fab marsha!

Hope it went well today verity

How are you wearing your UO combats ladies? Have mine on today with jigsaw cowl neck tee and feel shapeless and saggy. DH said used the word "coordinated" to describe how I looked

Romanarama · 25/05/2010 14:41

I'm wearing combats today, with hasbeen-a-likes, an M&S camisole, and a wrap cardi round my neck like a scarf (carrying it around in case chilly later, but it's actually v.hot at the mo. I look fabulous (I think )

AllBuggiedOut · 25/05/2010 14:44

I'm sure you do roman And I can see how a bit of flesh on show up top would help balance the look.

roary · 25/05/2010 15:19

Ollie dry roast some almonds in a frying pan and then at the last minute toss with olive oil and some salt and dried chili. Or do the same with pumpkin seeds and once they pop add a splash of olive oil and some tabasco.

Got this today at French Connection. NEver thought I'd be a horizontal stripes woman! And a bunch of bits at Gap.

roary · 25/05/2010 15:22

Also was someone looking for a fab playsuit? BEcause French COnnection had this in the window and I thought it looked pretty snazzy. Is more of an evening playsuit than a day playsuit

eshermummy · 25/05/2010 15:47

Sorry, disappeared for a bit as had friend pop round for coffee and then did "the run" together.
Vin - thanks for all the info they sound perfecto so am going to order.
Marsha- thanks for the number, will ring and see what they say
Very exciting to be asked to talk Liberty

LetThemEatCake · 25/05/2010 16:36

thanks vin you're a sweetheart.
re the anthr dress, I have been bfing in strapless ... but that's not what you wanted to hear was it?

ABO I am wearing my UO combats today with v.fitted white tank, hot pink lightweight scarf & tan glads. They have not worked with any of the stripes in my wardrobe, personally.

bloss combats in post this a.m!

first pair of Blochs arrived, 8 fits fine ... I like them so my sis is on the case to get them in Aus$ ... they're so not worth £115!!

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 16:46

Noooo! LTEC my bank card is walking towards the laptop and entering its info, it's making me do it..honest... aaah

Sorry didn't mean to come over all lecturing, just know you're not on your own and you don't have anything to hide from us, be careful OK and if you ever think it's getting on top of you give me a shout I'll sort you out

Hope they're OK for you esher, I always worry I have appalling taste and cringe when people buy something I link to! Hah,

Stylelostinlabour · 25/05/2010 16:48

Thanks Blossoming - I'm just a lurker so apologies for posting but I love making my own dresses, have slight addiction to Liberty Material so not frugal dress making...

Love all the links, I'm gratually gaining some style from following the thread.

LetThemEatCake · 25/05/2010 16:56

you will have to name change StyleLost!

no seriously vin I do appreciate it. It's nice - but sad - to know I'm not alone

And if it helps, I have been bfing in a £9.95 strapless dress ... so not quite in the same league ...

compliments - I gave one today and the reaction I got made my day. Saw a gorgeous pregnant woman in the park, looking so fabulous. Told her that I only wished I could have been as effortless and lovely in pregnancy. She nearly fell over.

Oh, and my Depp ex-bf phoned from Aus today. Said he is still waiting to find a girl "as beautiful and cool as me"

You snooze, you lose buddy!!!

AllBuggiedOut · 25/05/2010 16:58

Thanks for advice on the combats.

vin I'm sure the dress would be lovely - what would make me think twice was that it would be bound not to fit my bosom after I'd stopped bf-ing. But maybe that's a bit too wise

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 17:20

OK the card has retreated in shock at the price and the prospect of shrivelled post-BF bosom thank you!!!

Good to know it is possible to Bf in strapless dresses though (she says, expecting summer to have actually ended already)

Funny about Deppalike boyfriend, I have one ex who has practically stalked me sine I was 18 er, 2 children, I never return his calls, never return his emails blablabla, have changed my number and email addresses over and over again but he manages to contact me via my office or a friend or something, and he still hasn't got the hint luckily he lives quite far away so I'm not too freaked out

No compliments here, I donned a dress on Sunday and DP said in a chirpy voice 'oh I like that dress, you look so mumsy' ''MUMSY'' I tell you! tsk

FritziGreenEyes · 25/05/2010 17:26

Quick shopping trip to Vero Moda today. I got this dress in aluminium. I hesitated as spotted dresses remind me of Pretty Woman but it will hopefully match these Chie Miharas. Have bought them in February but not worn yet...

Also got these in olive, some grey shorts which I can't find online and some basic T-shirts. Not very exciting but I really need some summer basics.

I also treated myself to some new nail polish and summery eyeliner in turquoise .

LetThemEatCake · 25/05/2010 17:28

lol vin - if you don't mind me being nosey, how old is your dp?

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 17:39

He's quite a bit* older than me, which makes it weirder I think that he thinks I am mumsy

*ie 30 years older, whole family disapprove entirely but he was initially very nice and a refreshing change to my ex bf who was 20 at the time, and dp had a superb yacht (which sadly leaked had a GPS error in the middle of the ocean and was quickly sold for nothing. v sad tale.) but yes I'd rather not remind him of his mother --who is not only evil but also is in her 80s!

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 17:45

Great haul Fritzi! I like spotted dresses, that's not the bit of pretty woman that I remember, rest assured!

Fleecy · 25/05/2010 18:09

Afternoon! DH and I LOVE you snooze, you lose and use it often!

I don't think any woman wants to be seen as mumsy, especially not if it means they look like their MIL - and it doesn't sound like you could possibly look like your MIL!

Off out tonight as my mum is singing and I am accompanying her again. I think we've done five concerts in the last month or so which has taken up a lot of rehearsal time so will be glad to finish! We don't have any more until November now. No doubt mum will still want to rehearse weekly and learn a new prograame. I want time off! Anyhoo, inspired by tracey I'm wearing a crisp white shirt tucked in to turned-up chinos.

See you all later on!

traceybath · 25/05/2010 18:45

Well I've had a fun afternoon - went to tk maxx and matalan.

TK Maxx was ok - got a pretty silk camisole (elle mcpherson) and a nice Calvin Klein t shirt bra which were both very reduced.

Matalan was hideous and smelt funny.

Anyone seen this weeks grazia and the gorgeous new colourways of the LV Sprouse scarves but at over £600 a go - I won't be having one.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/05/2010 18:52

I have been hankering after a LV Sprouse scarf for a long time... But at that price can't justify it really. And if I had such an expensive scarf, I'm sure I would lose it somewhere. Funny enough that never happens with Zara or H&M scarves/sunglasses/etc...

hellsbelles · 25/05/2010 18:53

another tribute to Tracey due today! I just got the DP maxi here but in olive and it's brilliant...it's an ankle swinger on me but it's fab and very flattering.

I also got the £10 discount when ordered so totally bargainous.

LTEC - he has it really bad doesn't he! Sounds like he's getting his just punishment after errant behaviour.

Marsha - I dare not tell DH - he will be wildly jealous of your Liberty honour. How very exciting...what will you wear?

traceybath · 25/05/2010 19:00

Hells - glad you like the dress but think Fleecy was the original purchaser . I bought it online for my sister and she got it yesterday and was delighted with it.

Fritzi - I too love those scarves but just too £££.

Do you know I'm getting mildly irritated of all the threads telling us what we can't wear - in the last couple of days its been - maxis, shorts and short skirts! I mean are we all meant to wear bootcut jeans and a nice tunic from white stuff

notyummy · 25/05/2010 19:14

tracey - I am with you. Was staunchly defending the maxi on a thread earlier. Apparently they look ridiculous. I think we are all supposed to be in jeans and a jumper so we don't stand out 'on the school run'.

Erm, for a start I don't do one...and if I did, I would rather stand out (hopefully in a good way ) than vanish into obscurity and give up the ghost aged 38.

LetThemEatCake · 25/05/2010 19:26

TBH, given the perceived style credentials of most of the users on S&B, I take it as "wear with gay abandon" if I see fingers wagged, caution advised and vitriol poured on these threads.

MarshaBrady · 25/05/2010 19:28

Hells has he not got the call

I don't know what to wear. I mean one shouldn't really turn up to an interview with the HoM at one's favourite store in their clothing. Or maybe I will, but no V.Westwood!

I agree TraceyB I mean getting older (obv. not looking it of course) is going to happen whether I slub around in fatface/White stuff or put on NaP / something pretty or nice. So may as well do the latter.

Anyway get more compliments now than late 20s - or about the same anyway. (Bit like a daily vitamin pill or something).

mrsjuan · 25/05/2010 19:48

Evening all,
I have also been a bit put out by some of the threads telling people what not to wear - does it really matter what other people are wearing?

Marsha, how exciting about your liberty meeting! I dare you to turn up dressed from head to toe in primark or something

Hells -I love that maxi too - think I will branch out and try another one. Funny that it's ankle swinging on you - mine has a touch of the Morticia's on me Am hoping it will shrink slightly in the wash.

Thanks for styling advice on UO combats - can't wait to give mine an airing. Is the consensus glads for footwear?

Gosh vin - that is quite a bit older! No wonder you didn't want to be likened to his mum!
