Fleecy Oh, that is sad.

LTEC Have seen lots of maxis this weekend. There was a beautiful tall girl, dark hair, very pale skin, wearing a black halter neck one. All she had was her hair in a high bun and not one accessory. So simple, but very soignee.

OWW My dh is also a big sailor. Crossing the Atlantic in the Autumn.

Roman Your dinner party menu sounded good. Numbers are always quite tricky - agree six is good. Much more intimate if you have the right crowd.

Choo like the maxi

Well I am just glad dh is back home on Tuesday. I swear I started my day looking good in an old DVF Khaki dress - but by 10am I had been hosed down by dd. Then I pulled on a very simple stripey number and got covered in suncream (as did the carpet/walls etc).

By lunch I was covered in Blueberry yoghurt. 8 hours outside at various places so back to work tomorrow for a rest!

OllieWollieWoo · 23/05/2010 22:20

Carciofi - I love the neckline of the WC one but fear it would be too volumnious on me - I just can't seem to pull them off!. LTEC - this Emma Watson for People Tree top was the sort of think I had in mind - so thanks for that.
here
Traceybath - the situation with your DS really pulls on the heartstrings. From my limited experience it seems that these things seem to go round in circles so one week boy A is bearing the brunt of something and then the next its boy B. Hope this is the case with your DS and that it doesnt drag on.
Fleecy - very sad about your regulars. Hope DD wasn't too upset?

eshermummy · 23/05/2010 22:27

Hello - not been around much last few days as been enjoying sunshine with lots of barbies and even went out for dinner last night with DH which was organised at last minute .

Been catching up on the last thread and have just bought the Emily & Fin blue patterned sundress on the Coggles site with the 30% code.

Cake - have def seen two hanky hem grey vest things, will see if I can link.

Everyone sounds as if they have had lovely weekends, the weather makes such a difference to everything doesn't it?

LetThemEatCake · 23/05/2010 22:31

was that one I found for hells esher?

would be great if you could find the vest thingys for me

by the way, meant to say - OB lives in Tooting these days.

eshermummy · 23/05/2010 22:34

Cake

love this one - I've got the Splendid version from My W which is v v similar and which I plan to wear tomorrow!!

this one might be a bit too long but is in the sale now at Whistles (online and instore) £35

Any good?

Fleecy · 23/05/2010 22:38

DD is fine - not sure she has quite grasped the concept of death yet but probably good to introduce her to it gently!

Anyhoo, OWW - you're in luck. My top was £10 from Tesco here Could you get your mum to order it and post it to you? 'Tis very lightweight! And not a disasterous amount to spend if you don't like it when it arrives. It's very floaty and I was worried about looking pregnant but it's quite sheer so I figured it wouldn't matter - there's obviously no bump underneath! Having said that, I did wear a cami under it as I thought it might be a bit too sheer in the bright sunlight!

eshermummy · 23/05/2010 22:40

Yes, it was the one you linked to for Hells - they only had an XS left though so no idea whether it will fit or not. Fingers crossed.

are both those vests too long and dress like? I have seen the whistles one irl and the material is v fine so I would def have worn as tunic and not as a dress.

will look some more

eshermummy · 23/05/2010 22:43

oh by the way, thanks so much to all of you who recommended the Harry Eastwood cake book.
Made the coffee and walnut cake last Friday which was delicious and have just baked her version of banana bread which looks amazing although I haven't actually tasted it yet.

Fleecy · 23/05/2010 22:46

esher - we did the banana bread (if it's the one with cinnamon?) and it's yum. Especially with butter, although that defeats the object somewhat!

Forgot to say earlier, had a proud moment today. DC had gone to bed and I was chatting to mum on the phone when I heard a noise upstairs. Went up and DD was in our dressing room trying on shoes. DH despairs. I am secretly proud. Girl has got her priorities right

LetThemEatCake · 23/05/2010 22:48

oh thanks esher .. they're both a wee bit too long though, sorry to be a pain

what's tomorrow, is it your lunch thing??

and what did you wear last night??

don't you know by now that you're not allowed to be seen in public without reporting back on what you wore???!!

LetThemEatCake · 23/05/2010 22:54

looking for something like this shape and length-wise. But grey.

AllBuggiedOut · 23/05/2010 22:54

Evening all

tracey it's so awful watching them find their feet socially, isn't it? And it's so easy to feel like it's coming effortlessly to the other kids. I expect OWW is right and it will be somebody else's "turn" next week

The maxis round us were largely being worn simple 70s style; think tiered skirts, cheesecloth or flowery prints. Often with glads, very few accessories (we're an unadventurous lot) and not nearly enough bras!

Congrats on all your admirers tulpe. And what did you make of the green dress in the Observer that's being raved about elsewhere on here? Haven't check the thread this evening but somebody was looking for a highstreet copy.

Is anybody else looking forward to Gok's return on Wednesday? Or will I be banished from the thread for mentioning him

eshermummy · 23/05/2010 22:56

nah, tomorrow is school run then waxing, mani & pedi at home, then hopefully a few hours relaxation (dd2's long day at nursery).

Sat night wore - black primark skinnies, these shoes and cream tunic dress from H&M with appliqued flowers at neckline (is from Garden Collection but can't find pic).
Is re-hash of outfit I wore out with girls 2 weeks ago, was not very adventurous of me

hellsbelles · 23/05/2010 22:58

evening everyone...what a glorious day. I did damage to my bank account and ordered the Cake inspired dresses (snap with Esher) from Coggles and a couple from Orion (though assuming only one will be right).

Tracey - we had a horrible stage like that with DS....he would come home saying no one played with him and he played on his own at playtime. It broke my heart. I chatted to a few of the other mums who said their DC's sometimes said exactly the same and told me not to worry...though I was still concerned. I spoke to the teacher and she looked at me incredulously and said that DS was one of the most popular boys in the class. This was reinforced when I had to pick him up during break (for a drs appointment) and saw him playing happily with lots of children.

So my point (there is one I promise)... is that although there probably was 1 day (or 2) where DS didn't have someone to play with - it was just the normal pattern of playground life and it all balanced out in the end. Does that make sense? It may be worth you having a quick word with the teacher just to see if there is anything behind it...but I'm hoping your experience mirrors mine and that it turns out to be nothing.

Roma - I had the same experience as Choo with the R&B glads...normally I"m a 39.5 and I sized down with no trouble to a 39.

Will catch up properly later. Night all.

Fleecy · 23/05/2010 23:03

Now off ot bed but just quickly LTEC something like this? Only £12! But no idea on quality?

eshermummy · 23/05/2010 23:09

Can't seem to find a plain one

bambi?

skull print?

LetThemEatCake · 23/05/2010 23:12

esher 'tis the oddest thing - bambi takes me back to your SW sandals and skull takes me to MN Talk page??? !!

AllBuggiedOut · 23/05/2010 23:13

There must be one out there somewhere LTEC, I can't believe All Saints don't do one - everything I see when I go into that shop seems to be grey with a drapey hem!

AllBuggiedOut · 23/05/2010 23:21

Butterflies?

eshermummy · 23/05/2010 23:49

strange, don't know why my links don't work?

the bambi one was from Oasis, the skull one was from DP but they are (obv) not plain grey.

Off to bed now as should have gone ages ago and will be groaning in the morning!

OllieWollieWoo · 24/05/2010 07:39

Thanks for the Tescos nudge Fleecy - none left in my size on the website BUT I'm coming over with the boys this weekend so will call into a couple of stores to have a look - whilst stocking up on all the bits you can't get over here - Organix cereal bars, bovril, cherios, Lloyd Grossman Tikka sauce (DH's choice) and CBBC's magazines!!!.

OllieWollieWoo · 24/05/2010 07:46

LTEC - just seen this on the tescos website?here

blossoming · 24/05/2010 08:28

Morning everyone. Looks like it 's going to be a long day...
Dc1 was sick in the night on Saturday so we had a quiet day yesterday. Shame as he was supposed to be singing in chapel yesterday with the other Sunday school kids for a Christening.
And what a chav Christening!! Skimpy dresses, fake tan tottering heels, fascinators, young men yawning.. Like a wedding really. Has any of the soaps done christenings recently? Quite unusual for here.
Then I had it from one guest that they were all going for an all-dayer in the pub. Classy.

Finally got baby's playpen set up by the patio doors so she's been playing in that all cool with the doors open.
Anyway dc1 still not 100%, so staying home. As I said, a long day ahead.

fleecy, I'm sure all the old people appreciate your visits. What a great thing to do.

ltec, your ex, what a nob. My ex was like that, wanted someone completely different from me, only who looked like me. Can't believe I put up with all his shit and criticisms of what were inherently the 'real' me.

I thing DH would have been 'the one who got away' if we hadn't got together. I've said before, we had a few fumbles in the late 80's and played catch and mouse through the 90's. He always used to seek me out and I knew he really liked me but the timing was always wrong.

carciofi, what a glam weekend! I shall live through all you London girls' tales as I sit here in my cath kidston skirt and joules top thinking is it really only 8.15!!

Morning all! Found you! Had a quick couple of looks last night, but didn't search properly under style and beauty and so managed to miss you. God, it sounds like some people has such glamorous weekends. Good to hear to hear that your DP maxi was so admired tulpe.

Am at work in a cotton tea dress and wedges today for coolness - have no formal meetings so can get away with that. Am eagerly awaiting a sandal delivery today so will hopefully be able to report back later on that. Am feeling tired; getting up at 6 10 on weekdays would be bad emough, but the bloody birds woke me at 5am . Had just managed to get back to sleep when it was time to get up. Also, did everyone find it SO hot to sleep in last night?? Our house has a huge conservatory (30 ft by 25ft) on the back, which is mostly great as it gets used as a big family room, but in the summer it heats up to a zillion degrees and the heat goes up the back of the house so the bedrooms are boiling. Was dreaming of a/c last night!

mrsjuan · 24/05/2010 09:01

Morning everyone. How great is this weather?!
Roman - I wish I could make 'discoveries' around my house like you - I tidied out my wardrobe last night in hope of finding something but sadly the best discovery was a bag full of snowboarding stuff I'd been looking for all winter!

I bought the DP black tiered maxi the other day and wore it out Sat night for a meal with some brown wooden beads. DH was stunned! (in a good way I think) I've never done maxis before and enjoyed the wafting!

Fleecy - that is very sad about the lady wanting to go home - I hate the thought of anyone in my family getting like that - it must be so scary.

Blossoming - we went to a christening like that a few years ago - I didn't really know the family, it was someone from work but DH was the only one in the church wearing a suit - there were jeans, mini skirts and muchos drinking afterwards - we made a hasty exit after the iceland buffet!

I really liked that red diesel top Cake linked to a couple of days ago but it's now only available in XS so if anyone sees it anywhere else please give me a nudge!

Had dreadful night with DD last night - she was up every hour and inconsolable at some points - I've just managed to get her back to sleep to catch up a bit. Teeth maybe? She still hasn't got any!
