Thanks to ltec for the new title.

Morning all! Dd woke me up at 0630 with her morning toilet trip so have been websurfing on iPhone since! We have a 'rabbit clock' in her bedroom that we have used since she was 2.5- if the rabbit has woken up then you can't disturb anyone but only play quietly on your room. Boy, am I grateful for that piece of kit!

Hf thanks for the holiday wishes. You version of my name made me and is certainly more appropriate than 'noarse' !!

Right, have had a look at TS and think I may have an all new stripey maxi to lust over. What do we all think about this?

notyummy · 05/06/2010 07:09

If the rabbit hasn't woken up you can't disturb anyone.

OllieWollieWoo · 05/06/2010 07:30

Morning. Meant to say LTEC re your knock em dead outfit - should be something that looks effortessly but stunning so agree with the others about skinnies & heels. Have you a top that shows off your back - which I think you said was one of your best features??? Would have been livid at The Noddle Queen comment too. The first time I met DH's friends was at a BBQ - all the girlfriends sat on one side of the garden and made it obvious they were talking about me (they were also all friends with DH's ex who thankfully was not there). One even asked me why I couldn't find an English guy to go out with instead of 'using up' a Dutch one! . Needless to say I soon gave DH the 'its time to leave' secret signal!

hf128219 · 05/06/2010 07:41

I had an early awakening too! That dress is very nice NY. Looks like it would hang well and I really like the neckline.

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 08:49

morning ladies

notyummy that maxi looks good, very elegant

did anyone ever end up getting that lust-worthy stripe maxi - it had sleeves iirc - that was in all the press? think it was Acne??

came home from my run last night to discover that dh had got SATC1 as our Lovefilm rental ... bless him. Thus followed the most insipid couple of hours I have possibly ever spent. I am actually quite annoyed with my girlfriends for not telling me just how bad that film is!! The dress porn was quite good but OMG, the film was possibly one of the worst I have ever seen. And they say the 2nd is bad!! How much worse can it get???!!!!

We got a good laugh out of it anyway

ABO that vest is fab and fits the bill perfectly but I have got one coming next week in my Aussie goodie bag - sent my mum and my sis and bunch of instructions and pics and they have come up with the goods!!! Thanks a mill for remembering though.

re: outfit for next Fri - love the idea of Louboutins and heels but I actualy have to be feelig v. confident to wear heels, rather than them giving me confidence iyswim. All the girls in question are quite short, I am already tall and if I wear heels I think I will just feel too 'big' all over. Will ponder over the course of the week. Meanwhile, tonight's do, think I will wear rats, long black tank and patent ankle boots, or ballet flats depending on how I feel! Plus lots of long necklacey things. How does that sound?

OWW that sounds horribly familiar!!! women, eh??

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 08:50

parliament i loved your old name, made me laugh every time

roary · 05/06/2010 09:35

Am going to waft out in maiden voyage of maxi....feeling a bit apprehensive. Will report. Ltec, noodle queen really nasty but you will out gorgeous them completely! Enjoy Saturday in the sun, all.

AWellHungParliament · 05/06/2010 10:03

LTEC I loved it too, unfortunately Aitch didn't and complained to Mumsnet. I tried to resist changing it but eventually was told to change it or leave Mumsnet.

I like that burntout maxi, oh good grief I wish I was taller. Am starting to feel a little bit about finding a maxi for my height. I mean to try on NotYummy's Mandala design one but someone linked to the DM on a thread last night and I saw a pic of Paris Hilton in one and she just looked hideously out of proportion and vast around the hips.

Right am off to collect my parcel and run some errands.
Have a lovely day everyone.

bunnymother · 05/06/2010 10:13

Notyummy - great maxi, v flattering. Think prob best if not large of bosom? Think I would look matronly in it, but if you are a little sleeker, looks great.

Cakey - how about your Antik Batik beaded flat sandals w party of exes? They are lovely and think they are from your DH? so a bit of a sartorial hug? The Noodle Queen??

bunnymother · 05/06/2010 10:16

Oh, forgot to say, those of you looking for good shorts, I got some v flattering (albeit short-ish) ones from H&M. I got them in navy but they are also in khaki.

And also got a lovely white tunic from Massimo Dutti, really lovely. You know the kind, sheer, but lovely fabric edging detail and not too baggy (don't need to look bigger than I am!!). Think will wear w black leggings (haven't got a pair - am I the only one? Heard American Apparel is the place to buy) and my black patent leather flip flips. SAHM summer uniform?

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 10:45

No way!! why would you complain about someone's screen name?? unless it was in seriously bad taste? weirdness.

how tall are you again parliament? we will find you a maxi!!

bunny I agree, the beady Antik Batiks will be perfect, maybe with a t-shirt dress. Otherwise the strapless snakeskin and gold glads?

LOL at the Noodle Queen, to be fair they were right - no one could serve up a dish of ramen back in the day like I could. I had the tips and the pocketful of business cards from eager suits to prove it

tunic sounds lovely! AA is def good for leggings.

I was wearing Zara stone shorts, See by Chloe floral silk blouse and Hasbeens but we're now meeting friends down the Lido so have changed into Zara kaftan and gold strappy flats. And a cossie.

re kaftans I am still so lusting after this.

traceybath · 05/06/2010 10:56

Right ladies when does the nap sale start - I want these which are down to about £220 on the US site??

Also want a navy brora cashmere cropped cardigan as think the quality/cut is brilliant.

Been reading new vogue in the bath and inspired by Mr Lagerfeld I want a navy very soft wool pea coat for the winter. Yes, I am already thinking ahead to AW10.

Bunny - hello! Hope ttc still going well. I quite like tops like that with denim minis rather than leggings but am not a leggings fan.

notyummy · 05/06/2010 10:59

bunny - I am 34aa - sometimes a heady 34a on a good day, so def not large of bosom. Am tempted.

SandyChick · 05/06/2010 11:00

Monsoon have a fab maxi which isn't on their website so can't link. It's black halter neck jersey material £60. Think it's their fusion range. It has silver thread elasticated bit under boobs. I'm 5ft 2 and pear shape, it's very flattering but will need to have a few inches cut off the bottom!!!! It's a similar style to their buddah dress.

Also got A strapless top from topshop which I can't see on their website either. It's sort of a tropical pattern bandeau with elastic around waist. Gold buttons down the front with 2 pockets. £28. Sounds awful but definitely try it on if you see it. Looks good with cream/White linen trousers or shorts

got this too

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 11:01

la la la la la laaaaaaa

the sun has only just come out. I will not entertain thoughts of AW10. I. Will. NOT.

rufus101 · 05/06/2010 11:04

Just nipping in. Have a birthday party tomorrow and have to go organise the "food" (junk) party bags etc. Will not attempt the cake myself as having a BBQ afterwards for the adults, so will limit myself to grown up desserts! (Yum)
What was your other name Parliament? Can't believe someone would go to the actual trouble of making a complaint. Some people have little to occupy them.
TB I have ordered that SBC blouse from the outnet too! It's lovely and looks particularly good with the skinny khaki jbrands. Weirdly I am awaiting delivery of The Help from the Book Depository Company. Do any of you use it? It's fantastic. Free delivery and way cheaper than amazon or RL shops. Also don't buy anything by Jane Fallon. Last time I was in London, went into Waterstones, and the girl at the cash desk said "Do you want to buy this for £5? It's really good" I looked at it dubiously, it was called "Foursome", and she said "my colleagues say it's like We need to talk about Kevin". As I loved that book, and can drone on endlessly about it, I bought it. God, what drivel. Chick lit of the lowest order. Shouldn't be allowed.
Am very envious of all of you with the denim minis and short shorts! I think I'm too "of a certain age" to swing it.
LTEC whatever else go with the Louboutins! I'd love to be able to tower over others!

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 11:10

Parliament or cain as I shall persist in calling you (sticks 2 fingers up at moany complaining MNers) - is this the jumpsuit you were keen on??

bloss have just noticed that you suggested the grey snakeskin for the party, thanks I think it's definitely a contender

hells read back over my "lower at the back" post and it reads a bit "well I like them so ner"Didn't mean it like that at all, sorry . I value your opinion! was more just musing aloud (so to speak) about whether I thought the dress would work. Anyway, will report back in 10 days!!!

traceybath · 05/06/2010 12:02

Oh I hate this time of year in the UK as suffering with dreadful hayfever. 10 minutes in the garden yesterday and eyes swollen, nose streaming and hideous headache. Poor me

Rufus - spooky similar tastes

LTEC - you are so lucky being an olive skinned sunshine girl. DS1 is similar colouring to you and just looked brilliant on the beach.

RedBlueRed · 05/06/2010 13:04

Noooo! I don't like my clogs! I think they are going to have to go back. Stupid £ mistake - have to be returned special delivery. Maybe I should just stop fannying about trying to find a cheap alternative and buy the Hasbeens, which I adore.

Ltec that is the jumpsuit. I shall probably ponder it until it is too late to buy aswell!

Thanks for that tip Sanychick, will check out Monsoon. A maxi just seems like such an effortless outfit, the notorious jawbreaker aside, if I can get it right.

My last name was CainInThePunt, I had been using it since last July without any negative comments. What about just Cain?

Oh Tracey, hayfever is miserable, Poor You indeed!

LTEC, I too would go with the Louboutins, if they are anything like me they will be green with envy at your fabulous height. I must add, I tend to channel my feelings into postitive comments rather than put down those I envy. Is it possible they could have grown up by now?

hellsbelles · 05/06/2010 13:07

just checking in briefly...

Cake - no offence taken - I really didn't read it that way (and I do usually get it wrong anyway - so it's wise NOT to listen to me)...despite that I will also say snake dress is gorgeous - I guess we are going to have to see what the weather is like though before final votes should be polled ...

Tracey - poor you getting hayfever...did I ever mention this when she was pregnant and said it worked...though another friend found it didn't! Maybe worth a go?

hellsbelles · 05/06/2010 13:07

Tracey - that should have read 'a friend used this when she was pregnant!'

roary · 05/06/2010 13:44

Maxi was great this am and got compliments. This is the one here. That is until it got smeared with toddler sunscreen and subjected to the largest bf poo I have ever seen, requiring a bath and then the washing of the tub and bathroom. And the maxi!

Tracey can't go out without beconase. Sunnies help cover the eyes and keep pollen out but it's miserable. If it rains tonight that should help....

blossoming · 05/06/2010 14:08

No, no it's not allowed to rain till tomorrow pm!!

It's hard work this pretending not to have a hangover!
Had a great time last night. Wore ancient monsoon white 'city shorts' folded to the knee and dark navy AV type top. With shiny navy toenails and birkies!
Hmm there were sheep droppings all over as well as sheep grazing. (Not a line you'd expect to hear on this or any other s&b thread!) What fun!! I then went into town for some more drinks but got home at 1230.

Very hot here. Dc1 at a playdate. About to wake the baby. I've already navigated minister's visit re tomorrow, taken delivery of a gorgeous cake but am admitting to lying on my lovely cool bed right at this minute.

hf128219 · 05/06/2010 15:03

LTEC I love that Kaftan. DH has a god-daughter called Hero - maybe that's an omen!

traceybath · 05/06/2010 15:23

BF is hopefully going to come to an end over the next couple of weeks so will off to dr's to get serious hayfever drugs.

Why do people post on S&B threads and say 'who cares' etc - its soooo annoying. I mean I know what we (I) post in S&B isn't life changing but some people are just so irritating with their 'oh I am above such matters' attitude.

Rant over.
