Another intersting thing about old clothes - they make you realise how sizing has changed. My jeans from 1993 are a size 12 - but MUCH tighter than any more modern size 12 jeans I have. I think most sizes have gone down one in the last 15/20 years - i.e what was a 14 is now a 12. I am fairly certain I have not lost a dress size all over, but that is what the labels inside some clothes appear to be telling me.

rufus101 · 25/05/2010 11:18

Completely agree NY re the sizing, but I'm willing to believe that I've shrunk! Ah! Love it when a meeting is cancelled. That M/S tee shirt that DH wears is from 1990 BTW!
I ruthlessly cull as otherwise I'd never fit the new stuff in. There are very few items in my wardrobe more than 5 years old. Even when you buy what seems a "classic" item as I so often delude myself, I find that the cut or whatever changes ever so slightly and thereby instantly dates it.

OllieWollieWoo · 25/05/2010 11:52

Afternoon. Forgotten that I'd invited 2 of the Mums from school over this evening for drinks/chat/school gossip etc. Any tips for some easy to prepare nibbles from stuff I may have in already??? Both are skinny so would save they like savoury rather than sweet stuff (will just be me eating the pavlova thats in the oven then!)

I'm the same as you Rufus re culling! Have a few winter coats from years gone by including a lovely winter white one that I've not worn since having DSs for obvious reasons!) but spent the last 2 winters in a duvet coat! I find that when I buy something I love, I wear it to death so it either gets too worn out or I get sick of seeing it! Have some jeans that are 7/8 years old that I wear for gardening etc and a couple of summer skirts from around that time that maybe get worn once a year.

ollie, I like some Parma ham wrapped around some creamy blue cheese and a piece of dried fig. Nigella's recipe I think.

Similar themem - parma ham wrapped around grilled asparagus.

Yum!

Nice olives always good - and reasonably healthy.

carciofi · 25/05/2010 12:53

Rufus, yes, I am a Dubliner.

Blossoming, lovely dress.

Ollie, hoummous with slicd peppers and carrots?

I am going to Westfield tomorrow so may have to call into the White Company again. I like this top in blue but want to try it on.

Marsha, that salad sounds delish, I will try it. I love fresh ginger.

New Look 20% off GZWNT20

Stylelostinlabour · 25/05/2010 13:32

Blossoming - what pattern are you using for the dress? Looking for one but can't see any?

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 13:36

Hello all, have been getting awfully hot and bothered in the park, no shopping

Currently in Tracey's NL stone chinos, v comfy! No leopard print though and don't have the panache to wear with a grace kelly shirt so instead wearing a black top some summery heels well currently flipflops that are ancient and a red across body bag I discovered in my wardrobe that has never had an outing, has leather roses on it, sounds hideous, is actually nice and valentino-esque [deluded]

Oh I got these trousers with the 30% off and the small fits perfectly, hurrah, and they're surprisingly comfy and flattering.

Cakey I wanted to say, having divulged my ED history (severe anorexia from age of 8/9 til 18) that there is a thing known as purging anorexia, where you don't binge eat but just having a small thing to eat, even just normal food, like a sandwich or a piece of toast or a cup of tea makes you want to get rid of it. It's not the same as bulimia, it's actually more dangerous because it f*s up your electrolytes pretty badly and at a lower weight it's riskier. What I mean is, don't be ashamed of it, there are lots of things you can do to try and stop the cycle/pattern if you want to. I'd be happy to talk to you about it anytime, I was in the priory for 7mths as an inpatient and have all the books/leaflets/blurb so don't be embarrassed, I'm very happy to help if possible. It is a form of addiction though and my 'recovery' is a constant internal battle and also I addiction switch a bit

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 13:42

Oh I kind of want to buy this dress but am BFing so please put me off...

eshermummy · 25/05/2010 13:43

oooh Vin I looove those juicy trews. I placed a coggles order yest and didn't see them - gutted

There is only an XS or a M left now though - do you mind telling me what size you are if the S fits you perfectly. you are an 8 aren't you so the XS must be miniscule

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 13:45

OWW- feta and salad and balsamic vinegar/pine nuts etc? Am having a feta phase... Blossoming that asparagus/parma ham combo sounds delicious!

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 13:47

Ah no esher I'm a 10-11, 12s are always too big but 10s often too small so I'm guessing the 8-10 would be the XS

eshermummy · 25/05/2010 13:50

OOOh well I'm an 8-9 so maybe they will work - just a bit annoying that I didn't see them when I placed order yesterday, as will ahve to pay £5 delivery again but if that discount code is still working........

vinauchocolat · 25/05/2010 13:52

Yep S would fall off you esher! Oh and they are a bit stretchy

eshermummy · 25/05/2010 13:57

Sorry to keep asking Q's but how low is the rise on them - can't do a low rise anymore

MarshaBrady · 25/05/2010 13:58

Esher could you ring and see if they will add them to same order? Here's the number Tel: 01904 611001.

MarshaBrady · 25/05/2010 13:59

Sorry meant to put at end of that...

MarshaBrady · 25/05/2010 14:17

Oh my goodness all my shopping and being in love with Liberty has made a most 'loyal' customer and I have been invited to a half hour interview with head of marketing and mkting department to say what I think of their store!

I am very excited! I am going to effuse and carry on like a loon I know it!

blossoming · 25/05/2010 14:24

stylelostinlabour, can't link at the moment but it's.
I've done mine to knee length as it's the most flattering length on me. I didn't like the ties either so I've cut them off after ruching.
Will post photo later after school run.

Hurrah! Someone bought my tyrannical jeans!
