Tracey I know what you mean. If you're not interested in fashion don't post!

I mean I wouldn't post in Chicken Keepers and say 'What's wrong with the supermarket/butchers/farm shop'

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 16:32

LOL hf!!

i totally agree re: the 'oh, we are sooooo above the whole superficial business of S&B." Really? but apparently not above reading the threads and posting your comments.

which thread tracey? Direct me and I will peruse!!

also hate when people start threads to express their delight over a purchase and people come on to say "that mings". Just say nothing if you don;t like it, don't rain on someone else's parade!!

anyway, sorry to hear about your hayfever tracey.

am back from the Lido where I saw some sights - probably akin to your holiday feast for the eyes tracey. However, did see woman iin lovely kaftan .. I asked where from ... PRIMARK!!

My Zara kaftan got its first outing and is really very pretty. Pleased with it despite not being the Hero, which I think you should definitely get hf

Cain what is wrong with your clogs?? Just get the Hasbeens, you'll never be happy until you do!

rufus glad your maxi got complimented. Not so pleased about the poo!!!

Maxi-hunters!! wandered into Phase 8 whilst waiting for my juice to be made and noticed all manner of nice maxis with bra-compatible tops and in nice heavy fabric that looked as though it would hang and skim nicely. here dexter had a code too, not sure whether still valid??

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 16:34

glad you had a good time last night bloss- outfit sounds good!! sheep droppings not so good!!

dexter73 · 05/06/2010 16:51

ELV22 is 20% off Phase Eight and is still valid.
I get really bad hayfever too but funnily I find that rain makes it worse not better!

Fleecy · 05/06/2010 17:30

Boo to hayfever! DH and I both usually suffer but nothing as yet this year

Am going to see Footloose at the theatre tonight. Semi-pro production so imagine it's quite casual but we're having a drink afterwards and it's in the middle of town on a Saturday night so style dilemma... Am thinking of white vest, indigo jeans rolled up, peacock feather earrings, turquoise patent heels, blue and white scarf. Hair in messy bun with fringy layers clipped back. Does that sound okay? Can always remove heels for dancing Whaddya think? Eek!

Going with DH's step-bro's girlfriend - she seems lovely but I don't know her really well so hoping to get to know her better!

LTEC - snakeskin dress is fab but with flats so doesn't look too much like you've made an effort? More, I just slung this on and I STILL look amazingly gorgeous!

rufus101 · 05/06/2010 17:35

Helles meant to ask earlier. How's the dukan diet going. Very tempted. Think even I can manage 5 carb free days. Wish I had got the hasbeens, but then again, I have so many very similar type sandals (obviously I was subconsciously searching for hasbeens before they emerged on the style radar!) that I didn't take the plunge. I know I'll regret. Just made a chocolate roulade. Teeny bit charred at edge, but I'll just cut it off. They're not a critical crowd! Am currently boiling a can of condensed milk to make banoffee. Really hoping it doesn't explode. Have to boil the blardy thing for 3 hours! Who has that time? Still no packing done. Am about to run down to local nail place to pick up a bottle of OPI in a nice summer colour. Have this which I really like, but fancy a change. Saw someone on here about an orange, so might give that a whirl.

AllBuggiedOut · 05/06/2010 18:04

I tried on the Phase Eight Heligan Maxi a while back and it was lovely and h7ung beautifully, but quite heavy to wear so more an evening than day maxi. Like the stripey very much too.

Have been gardening and helpuing the DSs sell ice cold drinks to passers by over the garden wall! They were thrilled to make £2.10 and I let them choose icecreams from the co-op after tea . Was wearing cropped indigo skinnies and Asos butterfy bandeau which stayed in place and, I thought, looked fab!

Footlose sounds great Fleecy. It was one of the first films we rented when we had a VCR at home and I watched it again and again and again... Love Kevin Bacon.

Snakeskin and flats sounds perfect LTEC.

Go for some hasbeens cain - you won't regret it

RedBlueRed · 05/06/2010 18:06

Am currently trawling google to see if I can find a pair of Hasbeens

Can anyone tell me about the sizes?

blossoming · 05/06/2010 18:18

Wow, talk about multitasking rufus!

For the first time in two weeks I can say I have NO backache so hope to start the Shred next week. Anyone else ready to start?
My sister said yesterday that I was 'really thin' which I'm not but it's nice to hear. She's put a lot of weight on and I fear it's because she's taken her eye off the ball by wearing lots of empire line. Easy to do.
When there are a lot of fat people about it's more difficult to have a true perception of where you stand. The only one I believe is my scales and they're still 6lbs over pre marriage/baby weight.

OP posts:
traceybath · 05/06/2010 18:56

Cain - I think the hasbeens come up quite generously sized - it recommends you size down if in doubt on their website.

Blossoming - I hate empire line stuff with a passion especially on larger ladies. It just makes people look pregnant even if they're not which is just not a good look.

hf128219 · 05/06/2010 18:59

I have some Hasbeens - I am a UK 6 and ordered 39.

RedBlueRed · 05/06/2010 19:23

Shock Grin Grin Grin

AllBuggiedOut · 05/06/2010 19:42

Also a UK 6 and 39 hasbeens are the right size. Despite Asos saying should size up...

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 19:58

I agree re; empire but I quite like them, on me at least. I tend to kid myself think that my bony upper balances out the voluminousity

Cain I agree Hasbeens generously sized; am often a 42 but their 41s are perfect for me.

Too warm today/ tonight to countenance the all black/ glam goth/ Black Rats ensemble look so have opted for this top with black shorts and these Choos - do you think that's okay A&W ladies (it's an engagement party on a rooftop in East London)

fleecy your outfit sounds spot-on, have a great night!!!

traceybath · 05/06/2010 20:02

LOL LTEC - you are tall and willowy so can work that look - on shorter more rotund ladies it is not good. I keep going to ask a lady at jo jingles when she's due but have sneaky feeling she's not pregnant just dresses unwisely.

But have just found this top for you - you may have already seen it . . .

Now off to check out your photo on facebook and read your blog.

I am wearing lots of coconut body butter and pj's after bath and more vogue reading.

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 20:05

oooh but tracey before you do I need a yay or nay to to night's get-up. Babysitter here in 1/2 an hour!!

traceybath · 05/06/2010 20:06

LTEC - that outfit will look fab!

I just couldn't get enthused at the thought of you wearing flats but that is a totally wow look.

So - wang plait too? And what colour nail varnish?

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 20:09

got D&G drama on toes, clear gloss on fingers (a few days old but hey) Hair is in low loose messy bun. Thought Wang would be asymmetry-overkill

traceybath · 05/06/2010 20:16

Perfect - have a fabulous time!

Noodle girl indeed.

LetThemEatCake · 05/06/2010 20:18

oh god no, that lot (the uni girls/ Noodle Queen lot) are next Friday night. All good friends tonight.

thanks for the thumbs up - needed reassurance.

Night all!!

blossoming · 05/06/2010 20:19

Sounds a great outfit ltec.

I'll start a new thread called: what would you wear ..wise & avid girls?

OP posts:
RedBlueRed · 05/06/2010 20:30

Thanks for the sizing tips, as you can guess from the glee on my previous post, I have found some and in my size.
So I have ordered!
Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong or I will be totally devastated.

OOoooh I'm on a retail therapy high!

Roary, I really like your White Company Maxi, not surprised you got compliments. Do you think they will have it back in stock again?

Fleecy I love the sound of your outfit for the theatre, have a great night.

I went looking for a TopShop so I could try on NotYummy's tribal maxi but I couldn't find one in my local town, will have to venture further afield into Manchester.
Also went looking for the Blossoming top but they didn't have any, will have to order it in.
So a fairly unsuccessful rl shopping trip although more than made up for by my online activities!

Blossoming glad you have no pain, I have suffered with backache a lot in the past so I can appreciate how nice it is to be painfree. I don't have the shred but am trying to drop a dress size through careful eating and exercise. Currently a 12 but want to be a 10 for the summer. I've cut out wine and I'm rationing dairy and carbs.
Is the shred just an exercise plan or is it a diet too?

I have been having a lot of knee pain lately and the ligaments in my ankles (which I strained about 18 months ago) still give me jip so today I bought some Methylsulphonylmethane powder and Glucosamine Sulphate tablets from Holland and Barratt's to see if a bit of food supplement will make a difference. I've never gone for such concoctions before so will monitor the effects closely.

I'm chattering away again(must be the shopping high) ....and breathe

eshermummy · 05/06/2010 20:35

Hello all

LTEC - like the outfit for tonight - do you ever wear your hair up - that could look nice with your one shoulder top.
I would save the wang plait for next week and the witches coven. Where is next week's party - is it house party or at bar (makes a diff I always think)?
If it is a really hot w/e again like today and it's a more at home type thing then I just ordered a wicked maxi from ASOS that I think would look stunning on you with wang plait and beaded or metallic flats - here

Tracey - welcome home. OMFG at you being greeted by the birds - ugh how revolting. Hope you are well rid now. A similar thing happened to my friend a few years ago - pigeon came down her chimney while she was out at work and totally destroyed her living room - carpets/curtains everything, iirc it even managed to kill itself by repeatedly flying against the glass windows. Horrible.

Hells - I haven't worn my emily & Fin yet but managed to purchase a sloggi croptop thing in JL which I think will make it more wearable

Was at Glyndo yest, very nice, weather amazing. Was wearing oyster coloured silk KM dress with side ruching and deep v-back and silver peep-toe wedges (old, Hobbs clearance site). Was accosted on way through gardens on arrival by mad old lovely lady who told me that I looked absolutely amazing and that it was the most stunning dress she had seen!!! Twas a lovely compliment, although a bit OTT as my dress was nice.....but it wasn't THAT nice!!!
Anyhoo, DH was v complimentary, which was good.

Got home at midnight to find ASOS parcel waiting, couldn't resist having a midnight trying on sesh in kitchen . V pleased with this leather jacket and the maxi I linked to above but none of the bikinis were any good on.
