Thanks to ltec for the new title.

Notyummy I taught on the advanced course - my students were so nice to me and it was a great experience, can't tell you how much I learned from teaching students with so much experience who were (at that stage) lots older than me. Will you have to have a long distance marriage while he's there? (although expect you will be used to that if he's RAF?). Am intrigued by your military service, your avid and wise side must have been thwarted by the uniform! I may give the kimono a whirl, good price and if it suits you up top it might do me for now and post-bf.

Ltec, VB is dead right (obviously recovered from a&E trauma, poor you VB). J Crew all the way. Banana and Anthropologie also have bigger selections and are cheaper. Denim bar at Saks is amazing if you know what you want and will all be cheaper. I like Fritzi's printing-out tip. If DH goes to NY I will have to do that because without visual aids god knows what could happen.

But my hot hot tip for the best, sexiest exercise wear ever is Lululemon (canadian, hurray!). Their pants are famous for making your bum look fabulous, they have gorgeous supportive and sexy tops. I love their stuff. Most famous are the groove pant that Katie Holmes ran the NYC marathon in, comes in many colours. You can check out the selection, it's great. Will make you look fab while running. There are at least a couple stores in NYC.

I am also, I have to say, perplexed by the Houlihans...mainly because £245 for combats is beyond the roary budget but also because I can't see the merits of pockets on tight fitting pants on your thighs...

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2010 20:04

Rufus you poor thing! How are you feeling now?

(I nearly had a fashion accident a few days after ds2 was born as I tripped on a tie thing from the packaging of my Wolford tights delivery in the middle of the night. Really annoyed me!)

roary · 29/05/2010 20:04

TROUSERS, roary, TROUSERS. Not pants. Must remember causes embarrassment and confusion. My poor dcs are doomed to slip up when they go to school. DD already refers to the sidewalk by several names.

notyummy · 29/05/2010 20:49

Roary-Will indeed be a long distance marriage during the week-although he commutes away about 60% of the time. I spent 7 years in theRAF and although my work wardrobe was obviously limited to uniform, I still loved dressing up at weekends-plus there were lots of functions where beautiful dresses were required, so I had outlets!

Would def recommend the kimono top.So far I have have had compliments every time I have worn it.

Have friend from Dds nursery round tonight for hisfirst ever sleepover away from home. Thought i might be on for tears and fun and games, but they were both asleep by 8pm. So cute in the bath together-two 3 year olds having a blast!

LetThemEatCake · 29/05/2010 20:50

don't worry roary, I say pants too. (Australian)

am now unfeasibly excited about my evening. Saks website, fennel & spinach salad, sashimi. Yum. Tempted to crack open the prosecco but that may be an indulgence step too far.

on the pedantry thing again - my biggest bugbear is less/ fewer. "This checkout 12 items or less" - GRRRRRRRRRR!!!! "She has less pairs of shoes than you" = GRRRRRRRR!!!

hells am sure you look fabulous in your Houlis. What do you wear them with? (shoes/ tops)

VB meant to say, am so sorry about your double-whammy A&E experience!

Romanarama · 29/05/2010 20:56

Jeez, I've just remembered why I never post anywhere else on mn except here. If you want to feel my pain, read the last couple of pages of this and weep!! Off for a bath, will have a look at links tomorrow.

hellsbelles · 29/05/2010 21:07

oh Roma - the few times I have strayed from my favourite threads I've got myself into trouble. Stay here where it's safe

LTEC very boring styling for me...mostly plain tee-shirts and vest tops. I'm afraid I still can't do day time heels. So glads or sandals.

notyummy · 29/05/2010 21:11

How annoying Roma!

Sounds like a glass of wine and some relaxing are in order.

Dh just left to drive down south as he is working first thing tomorrow. I am shortly going to be planning holiday packing. We have 2 x 22 kg bags between 3 of us so I will have to put together ideal capsule wardrobe. And apparently Lake Garda is prone to occasional showers so will have to plan for that.

roary · 29/05/2010 21:15

roma come back to our stylish cashmere embrace. You are dead right!

Romanarama · 29/05/2010 21:31

Back, relaxed from bath! ny go and have a look at d'Annunzio's house and garden while you're there. It's really amazing. Also go to Villa Feltrinelli, pretend you want to stay there or hold an event there or something, and have a look around. The rooms are incredible (and incredibly expensive). Don't go in your shorts and flip flops or you might feel silly!

blossoming · 29/05/2010 21:35

I think I'd go and sit in your amazing wardrobe with a glass of wine romanarama and breathe in the beauty, out the hate.

notyummy, please post photos of your capsule wardrobe. With your military background it's bound to look amazing.

fritzi, extraordinary commitment to shopping. Happy hunting ltec. verity, forget the score, what's your verdict on Mike Phillips?

Exactly how many Irish fo we have on this thread?

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 29/05/2010 21:48

interesting AIBU thread ...

do you reckon I could pull this off? not pull it off to go to the loo, like .. carry it off/ wear with aplomb/ not look like two pigs fighting under a floral blanket

Romanarama · 29/05/2010 21:57

Why is MN so full of people moaning about being domestically put upon, while then defending the principles that make it so. Such an odd idea for mothers to push that 'a day in the rat-race' must be harder or more worthy than raising children. I mean there's nothing hard or unpleasant about anything I do, but dh's week in the Rocky Mountains at important meetings sounded, frankly, a lot more fun!

Link doesn't work LTEC just goes to homepage, but thanks for it anyway - good to know I can order to Belgium. Just in case

VerityBrulee · 29/05/2010 21:58

Very nice Bloss Was consoling disappointed boys. Well done, you were definately better on the night, even dh says you deserved it

Quite a few Irish here, me, rufus, carciofi and A&O who was here the other day. I can't say that dublin is the most stylish city, but we have our fair share of committed shoppers.

Roman AIBU is like another world isn't it? I'm glad I don't live there!

I have a grim task tomorrow, one I put off for as long as possible ..... buying ds1 shoes He was so easy to dress until about 2 years ago, I used to just pick out stuff I liked and he was happy, now he is very sure of his own style which is OK with me as long as it doesn't involve tracksuit bottoms But shoes have always been a problem for us, because boys like trainers and I do not, oh no. I have been able to persuade him to wear converse for the last year or so, even found him a sheepskin lined pair for winter, but tomorrow I think I'm going to come under unbearable pressure to buy something from a sportsshop. Wish me luck.

blossoming · 29/05/2010 22:04

If anyone can, I'm sure you could ltec. Looks great to me.

LetThemEatCake · 29/05/2010 22:04

so much I want on the Saks website

dh will never go for it. I mean, it's not like I work or contribute to our life at all.

notyummy · 29/05/2010 22:08

Cake I can't open your link.

Romathanks for the links. Top tips about dressing up to avoid social disgrace!

Blossoming despite military training my civilian packing skills have never been as efficient! Dh is v hood at packing. I leave all my stuff out and he does it. I am thinking shorts, maxis, tops and glam flipflops, with one pair of wedges.

VerityBrulee · 29/05/2010 22:13

Ooo, cakey missed that link, I can really see you in that, particularly when you go back home

blossoming · 29/05/2010 22:20

That's very generous of your dh verity. My dh was a complete nightmare, shouting at the ref, swearing, jumping up and down. My dad would have been the same next door!
I hate trainers too, all the best tomorrow.

blossoming · 29/05/2010 22:24

Dh bought me a lovely ruched bandeau cozzie today in the right colours from m&s. It's not miraclesuit but it fits. In a 12!! Very pleased.

LetThemEatCake · 29/05/2010 22:35
