oh rufus you poor love! what a nightmare. Hope you heal in double-quick time and get lots of care and attention in the meantime.

roary - re notyummy's kimono top, she is tall (5'10" iirc) and slim, 10 up top, 12 bottom. (hope you don't mind me speaking on your behalf ny, I feel we are as one in this regard )

took the dcs to the Natural History Museum today; with hindsight was prob a bit ambitious (one of me, 3 of them. awful traffic so 2-hr car journey there!! had lost the will to live by then and knew I didn't even have fab coffee to look fwd to .. journey home was only 40 mins...) Met a girlfriend there but she has two quite badly behaved children of her own, so we were a bit frazzled, what with the crowds and all.

Anyway, dh is back from this long job tomorrow ... and off to New York on Wednesday. This time, he will have time to shop, not just in airports. Suggestions please!! He has acknowledged on the phone today that I deserve to be thoroughly spoiled in lieu of, er, actually having a husband

LetThemEatCake · 29/05/2010 17:18

ooops, notyummy x-post!! see, we are as one!!

notyummy · 29/05/2010 17:44

bunjies · 29/05/2010 17:54

LOL at cake and ny!!

Roary - you poor thing. Sounds awful, lovely dress though . You can't bin it, it's evidence in future boring anecdotal tales. I second getting it shortened.

blossoming · 29/05/2010 18:09

How you have suffered for fashion roary. Hope you feel better soon. Must admit to seeing a lady in a voluminous maxi yesterday with climbing boots underneath. She looked ridiculous.

Spent the day in Chester and bought these in pewter. The whole family went to pick up some stuff, got a lovely raincoat for the baby in mothercare in navy.
Stopped with mil on the way home, short and sweet, my work is done..

Dh has said he doesn't want to go away for his birthday, so will have to don my bling-tastic outfit for a night out in town (for town read small farming community with watersports). He's still funny about leaving the kids.
However he did say he fancied a night at Chester races in July, where it's couples evening. We could win a prize for best dressed! Judged by the celebs of Hollyoaks!! (You couldn't make it up..)

bunjies - has your JV book arrived yet?? am going to take advantage of dh being away next week to do it again, if you fancy starting together on Wed??

rufus101 · 29/05/2010 18:11

LOL at being A and W's first Fashion Victim! DH has gone off to the Leinster match, but my sis is here, so she's going to help me out!

Romanarama · 29/05/2010 18:24

God Rufus poor you, it sounds awful. Thank heavens your jaw's not broken. On of the dcs' rugby coaches broke his jaw and will be recuperating for 6 months. I've occasionally felt precarious in long dresses, but usually because of heels catching in the hem.

Went to meet dh at airport this morning in Pucci minidress, FCUK ancient denim jacket, and Vagabond clogs. He was very appreciative of the S&B effort

blossoming · 29/05/2010 18:27

Sorry roary, I meant you rufus!
Got the match on live pause ready to watch when kids in bed.
Glad your dh is spoiling you ltec.

yes but with bloss???

roma you glamorous jetsetter you, surely you are well-placed to tell me what to demand ask for?

blossoming · 29/05/2010 18:32

Lucky you romanarama, in a pucci mini dress. I have traipsed round a Chester industial estate in the poring rain, in my massive winter scarf, and fly boots. The antithesis of s&b.

OP posts:
Romanarama · 29/05/2010 18:33

Yes, I've had a glamorous day digging a deep hole for a dog poo septic tank. It was also raining. Farking impossible to get the hole right too - how are you supposed to make a hole 120cm deep and 35cm wide without a bore hole maker?????

But it's there now, and 4 poos in it already

Romanarama · 29/05/2010 18:34

(Not in Pucci, I hasten to add)

VerityBrulee · 29/05/2010 18:36

Rufus are you a rugby widow too? DH and ds2 there, I am watching with ds1. Hope you are ok what a dreadful experience, one more reason for me not to do maxis (I am too small, don't buy the Nicole Ritchie argument!)

Good luck Blossoming, just walked up to the stadium before the game, lots of Ospreys here, all in good form. I have one eye on laptop, the other looking out for Phillips

Romanarama · 29/05/2010 18:39

Now, New York. I'd get some Kiehls, most especially this. The Houlihans you know you want, all this River Island baloney notwithstanding. Probably some of the Burts Bees range for me and the kids.

I'd also ask him to bring a range of US magazines, a whole load of stuff from Victoria's Secret, and some gadgets from the Apple Store (let him have some fun too, while shopping).

I'm sure I can think of lots of other things, but need to go and find a power cable or will disappear.

VerityBrulee · 29/05/2010 18:53

LTEC, have a good look on the j crew website, some gorgeous stuff there.

LetThemEatCake · 29/05/2010 19:04

would it be very wrong to say that I absolutely do not want the Houlihans??

pockets in totally wrong place for my tree stumps legs and they have been featured in Grazia. Diff if you are hells and were ahead of the pack.

Besides, can't justify spenny trousers .. am a dress person. Esp once I finish bfing this summer... no boob access required!! Am going to wear dresses every day!! Ones like this!! Every day!!!

LetThemEatCake · 29/05/2010 19:05

thanks VB will check it out

FritziGreenEyes · 29/05/2010 19:07

Phew... DD's party guests have just left. Weather was gorgeous here, we had champagne with the parents at pick up. It was a really nice party, i.e. nobody got hurt/was inconsolable/threw up...

Rufus - your accident sounds dreadful! Hope you feel better soon! I wore a maxi last Saturday and running up the stairs felt a bit precarious.

LTEC - When DH went to the US for a few days, I put together a shopping list by printing out the stuff I wanted from the Saks website. DH went to the store, passed on the list to a shop assistant, was offered a coffee and left with a nicely wrapped parcel half an hour later (after paying of course...). I got a DVF dress (that I knew would fit as I had tried it on in a shop over here), some jeans and something else I can't remember. For kids I love tea.

Whelk · 29/05/2010 19:23

Rufus Ow ow ow! Poor you. That sounds awful. Wishing your jaw a speedy recovery! It feels wrong to say it but I love love love the maxi!

LTEC - Would you trust dh's judgement on finding you a dress? Or is her better with specific instructions?

Have been RL shopping today for bras as have now completely finished breastfeeding. It was hellish! I was huffing and puffing so much about my now non-existent norks that the woman in the next changing room asked if I was OK . i've ended up with the most utilitarian bras possible. My dh was trying to be encouraging but I'm sure his face fell.

Whelk · 29/05/2010 19:24

he not her - sorry Mr (not Mrs) Cake!!

notyummy · 29/05/2010 19:31

Fritzi glad the party went ok.

Cake-am so with you on the Houlihans. They may suit the svelte of thigh, but for those like me who appear to carry most of their body fat there or thereabouts, I don't think they would be flattering.

Romanarama · 29/05/2010 19:43

Excellent advice from Fritz

hellsbelles · 29/05/2010 19:49

Alas tis a little true about the non flattering powers of the houlihans. I like to think I look good in them and of course there are the bookalogs of editorial extolling their flattering powers...but it's not really true.

And I think the Grazia article proved it. Even Gwen Stefani looked a little thunderous in them.

But I will console myself with the fact I did get them a while ago, so for once was ahead of the pack (and now I'm not and left looking like a wannabe with big thighs

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2010 20:01

Great day here. There was only one person in Grazia who looked good in the H. Can't remember who.

And yes it is a crap magazine but it I get it while the cleaner cleans and I have lovely espresso. Tis a moment of quiet and trashiness.
