Thanks to ltec for the new title.

at hf and her tights. When I was in the military I had a job for a while where I had a driver and the job also used to require me to socialise, errm, enthusiastically. The driver was always good at never batting an eyelid at my condition. ' Ma'am,ma'am, MA'AM - we are home!'

FritziGreenEyes · 27/05/2010 21:31

Forget grammar and let's talk clothes! Who has got a jumpsuit? I think I might try one of the black jersey ones from Asos:

Grecian twist

Assymetric shoulder

Bandeau

I am 5ft 7 (I hope I have converted that correctly as I think in metric only: 170) and size 10 bottom/8-10 top. Wide hips, small boobs, long but rather untoned legs and good arms (that sound like a creepy personal ad). What do you reckon?

rufus101 · 27/05/2010 21:42

That is so funny HF. What a pro!
Don't know why I am thinking of you TraceyBlooking at this but I am. Obviously have it hardwired in now that you like leopard print. Isn't this so cute? Mother of God! Who would wear this? And it comes in 3 colours! What. Is. The. Point?
Meant to say Verity the only thing that worked in this house for the dreaded headlice was Derbac. We have them on a cyclical basis for 3 months last year. I tried every product going. Hedrin, lyclear, teatree oil, etc. Washing all linen, sealing toys in plastic bags etc. The problem is it just takes one kid not to realise they have it, to spread it back. When I discovered it again on my DS, I texted his montessori teacher to say could she please send a note home, as obviously he was catching them from someone again, as I was treating him at this stage on a weekly basis! Within a minute she texted me back to say "he's the only one who has them" ????????? Bloody hell, with that attitude no wonder he was getting them. Either he was catching or he was passing on, so send a note. Apparently you can have an infestation for up to 3 months before discovering it! Yeuck! Makes my skin crawl. Anyway the derbac smells awful, but it's formulated for people who have eczema, asthama etc, so it's not as harsh on the skin. You leave it on over night. Will never forget the first time I used it. Next morning - carnage on the pillowcase! Oddly conflictingly traumatising yet satisfying at the same time.Did the job though!

rufus101 · 27/05/2010 21:44

What about this LTEC? Not grey I know, but pretty colour.

MarshaBrady · 27/05/2010 21:46

Thanks Carciofi.

Comps for day - Bumped into neighbour who said I looked fantastic and amazing (but easy win cos he admitted when slightly sloshed that thought I well lots of things... is single)

And the lovely dh who says you look good each morning I look good. Short and straight to the point.

Some nice Halston stuff in.

And jumpsuit for those straining under the weight of extra disposable income.

MarshaBrady · 27/05/2010 21:47

I was... (I may be slightly sloshed)

Romanarama · 27/05/2010 22:07

rofl at Marsha

Have just been reading "The Price of Motherhood" in the bath. Quite thought-provoking. here

rufus101 · 27/05/2010 22:19

Just ordered [http://www.landsend.co.uk/pp/Adjustable-Side-tie-Swim-Mini~4390_59.html?bcc=y&CM_MERCH=IDX_00006__0 000000412&origin=index this] to cover up previously mentioned large bum when on holidays. Takes 2 - 15 working days to deliver here! Gulp! Will it arrive on time for my holiday? Can I face showing my bum off in just bikini bottoms? Will I have to spend entire holiday putting on shorts/dress/large bag before I can stand up from lounger. The tension!

LetThemEatCake · 27/05/2010 22:20

fritzi I love 2 & 3. Not keen on 1 .. the wide legs make it look a bit shapeless, I think.

rufus which colour, the blue? I fear that the back detail would draw attention to my bum, that's the thing ...

all of a sudden I feel I need silver glads. Where will it end??

tulpe how did flower show go?

where is esher??

happy hols tracey - we'll miss you and expect full rundown on what you wore when you get back. Am actually slightly annoyed that you have not listed items comprising your holiday packing for my our reading pleasure.

hellsbelles · 27/05/2010 22:20

slightly scared to post (with my terrible grammar and spelling)...but I know you must be used to me by now

Cake - it's so sad that you Dad didn't make your wedding (and that it was better for it)...even my rubbish Dad managed that.

Roary - I think you are right...we so often overlook the father/daughter relationship. I see the way DH is totally besotted with DD and I know it's going to help her grow up to be a confident young woman.

I got a few compliments today. One from a builder (which is very unusual for me) - 'you look beautiful darling...'. Then 2 about my dress (went out for dinner tonight)...it's a swirly patterned dress by Future Classics. DH later spoiled the compliment by saying it is a sort of camouflage dress...you stop noticing it after a while .

DH's new toy (ipad) arrived at 4.30 today (he pre-ordered it)...so he is currently playing on it and making lots of appreciative noises. I think he was a little upset that we had to go out to dinner tonight as he lost valuable ipad play time.

MarshaBrady · 27/05/2010 22:25

Hells dh really wants an ipad, he will be envious of the pre-ordering (as I type on his beautiful big mac). All part of the creative thing isn't it. He works near Hoxton Square. That's near you I think?

carciofi · 27/05/2010 22:28

Cupparooibos, am in the UK but Irish, so good memory. Are you in the US? How I miss NY shopping!

Blossoming, no snogs but I was in asleep when DH left and asleep when he got home so he didn't see me in it, so I had to make do with the compliment from my friend

florenceuk · 27/05/2010 22:42

Hells my DH was very put out because his ipad is not arriving until 7 June because he delayed ordering it for a day or too - but he is already planning what apps to buy. I don't think I could tear him away once he gets it!

More shopping - have bought these two dresses: in the blue which should be nice and cool and this one from great plains in blue again for work. I hope they fit!

went and tried on the trench - it did look nice. and waterproof unlike the Zara one which looked very familiar. But very expensive (almost as much as an Ipad come to think of it). Surfing for comments on the net, somebody mentioned that you'd be afraid to take it off in case somebody nicked it...

LetThemEatCake · 27/05/2010 22:47

really pretty Liberty dress florence

meant to say - I bought a pair of those cropped harem jogger type things from H&M in grey. They feel so amazingly cool and comfy and I really, really want them to suit me, but I fear they simply accentuate my thighs and hips, which need no introduction, they make an entrance all on their own. Are there any big pears - I don't mean size 6 top and size 8 botts!! - I mean proper JLo but not as shapely - types out there who have worn these successfully? Am I just being chicken/ out of my comfort zone?

For £7.99 I am tempted to hang on to them and wear them at home until I get accustomed to the way I look in them and overcome any mental block. On the other hand, I don't want them hanging around and torturing me with the constant accusation of how un-Liya Kebede I am

Fleecy · 27/05/2010 23:19

Oh LTEC - I'm not sure without seeing! I do think they accentuate those parts but then you are lovely and tall with good legs so you might be able to carry it off rather well.

Did you get the MW email focussing on her today? She's thinner than I would usually admire but so very stunning you just can't help but stare at her!

LetThemEatCake · 27/05/2010 23:23

I did get it. And am now abandoning all else - being a good mother, reading books, work, housework, you name it - in my mission to look exactly like her

you wear harems don't you? as does MM. MM is not a pear though, is she?

reallygrumpy · 27/05/2010 23:34

LTEC I've bought a pair of jersey harems from H&M but long not cropped and am trying to work up the courage to wear them in public. I'm a size 12 (so not a pear) but am really worried that I'll look a bit mutton and am struggling to work out what to wear them with. Any tips?

Oh, and my local H&M has got the kind of grey vest you're after so maybe try another branch?

And on the subject of fathers, my father and I haven't spoken for nearly 6 months after he behaved appalingly at Xmas. He's not very well (depression) but won't get any help and I've decided not to put up with his behaviour any more. It was v upsetting at first but actually now it's made my life easier and less stressful (I feel guilty saying that though...) plus he's my only living parent so now I feel a bit like an orphan

Right, off to hunt for houli-a-likes...

LetThemEatCake · 28/05/2010 00:18

right, have finished work for the night and am off to bed but just before I do ...

remember the Bosworth/ Houlihan pic? Is this top any good to anyone? I know it's not a tank but it's at least tie-dye ... ??

Thanks for the H&M tip grumpy, I've tried 2 so far ... will keep looking.

So I have tried my harems with flat glads, ballet pumps and with Hasbeens .. can't quite bring myself to embrace the 'fierce heels with joggers' look ... obv the heel height makes me look slimmer but heels + joggers just feels a bit daft and I def feel more comfortable, albeit chunkier, in flats. Have only tried with variety of plain, very fitted tanks - to emphasise the skinnier bits!! Can't see how anything voluminous up top would work? Presumably lots of chunky bangles/ a 'statement necklace' (ffs!!) would add the luxe factor and draw eye away from the bits that are look bigger??

I'm very sorry about your dad but glad that you seem to have made peace with your decision. On the Houlihans, I have the skinny seamed bikers from River Island. They are a very good and flattering fit, I think (though did see dodgy photo of me in them today which sent me screaming to the hills) - no longer avail online but may be worth checking in store?

what were you thinking of for yours? and what colour do you have??

AllBuggiedOut · 28/05/2010 01:03

LTEC any good?

roary · 28/05/2010 08:02

ltec this or one of the many others at American apparel?

LetThemEatCake · 28/05/2010 08:20

they both look good - thanks ladies roary and abo

AllBuggiedOut · 28/05/2010 09:28

I thought the e-bay one was good style-wise although [embarased snob emoticon] looked a bit, erm "worn". But maybe somebody can recognise the make from the photo and you could source a new one?!

AllBuggiedOut · 28/05/2010 09:29

embarrassed

LetThemEatCake · 28/05/2010 10:12

heading out with a friend and her children today, wearing skinny grey jeans, hanky-hem black tee, black ballet flats and charcoal bf silk/ cashmere cardi

always feel that I have failed, somehow, when I don't wear colour at this time of year. Will use my pink MJ bag today to make up for it.

on subject of compliments. vin if you are around today, wanted to tell you that I've been thinking about you a lot. Wanted to say that I think you're amazing - not only to have come through your experiences but that you've done it so well and so healthily that your body has been able to perform the miracle of pregnancy, birth and bfing. And you are warm, witty and wise to boot. Have utmost admiration for you.

hope everyone has a lovely day.

Romanarama · 28/05/2010 11:32

Ooh, my ipad arrived yesterday too!
