I'm having a bit of a tired day today - chores to do and bread/milk to be purchases.

Sometimes it would be nice to live within walking distance of a shop - its a pain having to always drive absolutely everywhere.

Plum - have fun!

Better go - the boys are playing with my shoes . . .

LetThemEatCake · 14/04/2010 12:34

Oh Marsha am glad it's not just me. I rely on the comments and reactions of others too. Although on low self-esteem days I have been known to interpret every look I get as a "oh my god, she's hideous" look.

yes, I eat breakfast, although it's more like brunch by the time I get around to it. When I am being reasonably relaxed about carbs, it's millet or oat flakes with rice milk and a touch of manuka honey. ATM it's a fresh juice (pineapple/ pear/ apple/ carrot/ beetroot/ ginger/ that sort of thing) with either a handful of nuts or a zero-fat Greek yoghurt and berries. Lunch is soup and dinner is steamed or stir-fried green veg with maybe another juice or two throughout the day. Twice or three times a week, some avocado or mackerel so I've got some more 'good fats" for bfing.

HTH!!

waiting for DHL - missed a delivery while on hols last week - must have been the Easter Bunny jacket - will report back ....

Plum you sound lovely and colourful as always - have a good time. Also I see you had a bday recently - many happy returns!!

LTEC - are you still trying to 'lose' or are you at your goal now?

I fluctuate between branflakes or special k for breakfast with skimmed milk - like you tend to eat it between 9-10am so after school run normally.

notyummy · 14/04/2010 13:05

ltec you sound v disciplined. I am dreading the time when I need to be that disciplined with food...because its not my forte, its fair to say. At the mo, I find if I exercise (inc stuff to build muscle and tone - not just aerobic stuff) - then I can stay pretty much the same weight and size and eat pretty much what I want. i don't eat piles of rubbish, but i eat plenty of food and have at least one piece of cake a day. Since dd I dont drink nearly as much as I used to, so i suppose that is one source of empty calories gone. I still indulge in a few too many galsses of wine sometimes though!

I found the low GI approach really helpful in terms of educating me about what foods keep you full for longest, and what a portion of carbs should look like. Also, eggs for breakfast keep you going FOREVER - it's just the faff of preparing them!

traceybath · 14/04/2010 13:08

Notyummy at thought of cake every day - although I just ate a tiny mouthful of the ds's carrot cake.

Talking of exercise - where's Libra gone? I wonder how her pregnancy is going . . .

MarshaBrady · 14/04/2010 13:11

Yes Ltec thank you that is great (was going to start a thread but then thought hell cut to the chase and get answer here from expert).

I get a bit panicky at thought that age might mean good comments dry up. I need to know!

My mother is exactly same and we have to soothe eachother by making comments on our eachother's attire as soon as possible when meeting. If one doesn't the other gets jumpy (hee hee we sound like loons). My grandmother was French and she was the same (and very very strict about not being overweight). At least my mother and I can laugh about this! (One of her sisters is the same, family bizarreness).

MarshaBrady · 14/04/2010 13:24

TraceyB me too. Coffee and breakfast after school run together with lovely sigh of relaxation.

Notyummy that sounds great, I do have one indulgence that I haven't yet given up but getting rid of bread, pasta and potatoes (and all other rubbish) has helped heaps.

LetThemEatCake · 14/04/2010 13:48

tracey am just going as low as I can really. Am past what I originally set out to do and am curious to see how I look/ feel at a lower weight. May as well, hey. Can always put it back on

Agree that exercising makes it all so much more relaxed. Just before I got pg with dc3, I had childcare on tap and was exercising loads, and eating whatever I wanted - cakes, bread, pasta etc - although the wheat-free versions always, which helps a bundle I think. Also drinking every day .It was lovely. But in no way preferable to having 3 scrummy dcs.

DHL has arrived - will let you know how my outnet haul goes.

(cripes ignore terrible wording in that previous post!)

DolceeBanana · 14/04/2010 13:49

I have been really good because I was finding bread too bloating; however, have fallen off the wagon with toast, butter and peanut butter! Comfort food- I yearn for the sun again, grey and chilly here...summer makes you want to eat healthily I think.

Funny Plum, how you were in Childrensalon yday when I linked to it! It is rather fab isn't it...but def more spec occasions...and the dior baby stuff is pure trash but with v v expensive price tags!

Still, there's loads of money out there! We have been gazumped on a couple of houses- and that was at asking price...no mean amount either! Shame because they were gorgeous....I'd almost moved in - well I had in my head.....!

P.S. Like this bag for holidays

Anyone recommend a suitable tinted moisturiser that's not too greasy...? Have been using Mercier for ages and its quite good but tad greasy, (have oilyish skin) so have to blot with powder, defeats the object, as I still want to look 'dewy'....

DolceeBanana · 14/04/2010 14:08

Is it just me or have your DCs got more whingey as the last couple of weeks have progressed? Mine normally get on well (they have their moments) but they have bickered constantly this morning!!!!

Think they will be relieved to get back into more of a routine too!!!!

MarshaBrady · 14/04/2010 14:13

Ds1 is five and ds2 is 4 months so they get on well .

But really most of his friends have flown somewhere for hols, so ds has asked when school is starting a few times.

Summer hols think we'll do long haul to Australia!

LetThemEatCake · 14/04/2010 14:16

Quelle disappointment!!

my orangutang arms prove to be my downfall yet again - the 3/4 sleeves on both jackets come just below my elbows, no joke. They seem to be very near the model's wrists, no?

this is nicer than expected but just looks daft with such short sleeves

this very lovely and chic and rabbit is detachable were I so inclined ... but had to order in a 40 which is too big and boxy. Plus the sleeve problem.

Bollocks!!

Aah my internet has been down, it probably decided I had spent enough money online on monday and banned me

Right, am back- choo I got the malene birger skirt but I sent it back because it made me look hugely fat. I do like it though, but I would have only had it for work on hot summer days, I didn't think it would be very good for days mooching in the park, or with flats, or with my pale legs, and yes I looked very fat in it. And I decided that by August I'd be throwing it in salvation army bin with the tags on.

On the subject of legs- prtyy peaushun magical gloop arrived. I'm not entirely convinced yet. I tried it and I stink of stale grapefruit. BUT it does give that sort of amazing dewy sheen to your skin that is not glittery or fake looking but looks really lovely. Think Beyonce/Rihanna music video skin, or the sort of skin that you'd only get on a photoshoot on a beach with lots of extra lighting. However it does not hide imperfections, but I expect that the light diffusing element would have a similar effect. Medium would probably be the shade to go for if you have a slight tan, light is a bit too light I'd have thought. It doesnt rub off on clothes though, so is good in that respect..but I shall do a more thorough test if it's ever warm enough to wear a skirt with bare legs here

I have also spied this leg stuff which I remember reading about last year. Has anyone tried it? I really shouldn't be spending lots on magic things but it looks pretty good, like it may be more suitable if you're pale to impart subtle colour. And anything that enables me to wear half my wardrobe is a wise purchase, yes? non?

Also wondering about this trench which is the colour I want. I tried on Gap trenches in RL last year and they were so heavy so I'm put off by the potential that this would be as well

Oh and this silk blazer looks versatile

Nice bag Dolcee, just loiking at it makes me wish I were in the seychelles.. aah..
re the tinted moisturiser, I don't know I have combination skin, so the laura mercier one I had was a bit too oily for me too. I don't wear anything on my face at the moment (well, always mascara) but would feel better with a bit of a glow. I tried the rather spendy chantecaille just skin a while ago though and it was much better than laura mercier

vinauchocolat · 14/04/2010 14:31

LTEC don't lose too much weight please please please! You sound teeny! And you look gorgeous but also teeny! Your perception of yourself and reality are not the same thing

Your MJ bag is so lovely and this alexaesque charity shop trench has made me most envious! Vanessa bruno jacket with funny sleeves could still be good for warmer weather?

MarshaBrady · 14/04/2010 14:34

The Outnet is sending emails with how to shop in the sale.

The pressure!!

vinauchocolat · 14/04/2010 14:37

Sorry for the lecture I know it's annoying, but I get hypervigilant and OTT if people lose weight due to my murky very anorexic inpatient at priory past, I don't mean to lecture I just wish people could see themselves as others see them. You can easily become very good at losing pounds but along with it all sense of reality can also be lost- LTEC you are totally stunning so don't be too hard on yourself. There, lecture over

vinauchocolat · 14/04/2010 14:39

Oh I haven't signed up for outnet sale, I might give it a miss, sounds very stressful (but would love to be able to genuinely get new item for £1 and not have to lie about how much it cost when DP queries whether it is new!)

Romanarama · 14/04/2010 14:40

I would beware of losing too much weight ltec. Having skinny thighs and pancake tummy is obviously marvellous, but the gaunt face and Jane Birkin chest are not attractive at our age ([hmm} I'm 37 - near enough right?). I would look nicer with a little bit more padding - not much, maybe 3kg.

I just received [http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/64366 this] and [http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/79601 this] which have been in my basket for weeks. Hit click yesterday for fun and I love both of them

MarshaBrady · 14/04/2010 14:40

I'm thinking it may be too stressful also. It's bad enough when the stuff isn't £1.

Romanarama · 14/04/2010 14:41

that was a , case you didn't know

Romanarama · 14/04/2010 14:42

oh ffs and

this and this

Romanarama · 14/04/2010 14:42
Confused
Whelk · 14/04/2010 14:44

Just running on to say thank you blossoming for the parka recommendation. I love it!!

Back at work now so not much time to check all the lovely links but will do later.
