Hi all

Does anyone have an opinion on this skirt?

Choo - I think someone else on this thread bought it and sent it back. I must say that I am not keen. Print + shaping = overload for me. You know me. Simple girl at heart

Not sure why the MJ dress we both have passes muster in that case .. did you see that I finally wore it the other night?? Yeeessssssssss

by the way, does anyone ever wonder why they bother with all this style malarkey? Today I have been projectile vomited on (induced by coughing fit after bf), have cleaned up no fewer than 4 poos, 2 of which explosive, have stepped in the most horrible slimy dog poo and dropped a 4pint of milk at the Sainsbo's checkout which split open and splashed everyone in the vicinity. I mean, why not just give in to my inner trackie wearer??

Eve all.

Am freshly returned from a few days away with the Dcs in Tunbridge Wells, staying with a friend and her 2 DCs.

We had such a fab time, as the littlies all got on so well, and we paid her neighbour's daughter to look after them yesterday pm so that we could go shopping .

Amazingly, I managed not to buy (still trying hard to be wise after my avid few weeks) but did see some gorge things. Went into this shop. It had mix of vile WAG-esque cocktail dresses with ruffles AND crystals AND embroidery, but also stocked some really nice lines, including their own label, which had some fab really light jersey pieces in it.

Tried and loved this and for a taller mumma, loved this

They had the new Ash styles too, fell in love with a 40s dance-style sandal with a low cone heel and a t-bar. Very flattering, but am being oh-so-wise and really don't need anything with even a smidge of a heel.

We also went in the v posh Children's Salon that someone linked to earlier. It was AMAZING in there-lots of OTT Eurotrash gear, but some really beautiful pieces too. Adored the Rachel Riley slippers especially. But suspect that if I bought them DH would divorce me, or certainly wonder why it was beans on toast every night.

Inspired by all of you and your Ebay buys, I bid on and bought this dress. It arrived while I was away, and have it already in grey, so size etc was not a gamble, and do love it. Excellent quality wool, great cut for me.

Have not read right back to start of when I was away, but will endeavour to catch up with what looks like lots of fabulous links. Will come up with my Outnet wish-list too-anyone know yet what stock it's gonna be?!

Night all, best love x

No no no LTEC, stay focused or it's a slippery slope to the fleece brigade!

Fleecy · 13/04/2010 23:13

Just caught up after a busy day, so here goes...

choo we do the plank in our circuit training classes and I start shaking very quickly. Need more practice! Also, I like the MB skirt and was looking at it on there myself but wasn't sure what to wear with it. Like it with white but think it might look a bit boring with black and too busy with colour?

mm dancing is good for tummy toning and it doesn't feel too much like hard work! I do Body Jam twice a week and find salsa and the like good for tummies as your hips are constantly moving. We're currently doing a Shakire style one which is great but I can only roll my hips freely one way and we have to do it while turning round super fast so I'm fine to the right but not to the left!

Also, my vice is late nights - I like to get out at least once a month on a proper big night out. Have been out the last two Fridays and am now skint!

roman I am very jealous - I've only been to NY once and loved it.

Our morning routine is more in line with fel1x - DH gets up at 7.45 and makes breakfast for all, then brings me tea and porridge in bed at 8am on his way to get the DC up. I go in the shower while they have breakfast then I come downstairs and take over while he goes in the bathroom. I am embarrassingly bad in the mornings but DH is very understanding, as long as I pull my weight the rest of the time

Fleecy · 13/04/2010 23:17

Gah - sorry for typos.

Agree with blossoming - my mum always said we should take good care of ourselves and look the best we can for our husbands. It's a bit old-fashioned but I do it. Want him to be proud of me! And I feel so much more confident when I know I look nice.

Can I ask, do you all look in the mirror before leaving the house? I always check my outfit in the morning, even if I'm wearing old favourites, but am fairly certain most people probably don't. Is it too vain, or just sensible?

AllBuggiedOut · 14/04/2010 00:59

Choo just a quick thank you for pointing us to the stripey Jigsaw top. Mine arived today and it's lovely

notyummy · 14/04/2010 08:28

plum loving your Gap Roland Mouret dress - nice work! I was very pleased at selling my silk Monsoon dress and silver glads a couple of weeks ago. Hope they went to a good home!

fleecy as my earlier post on my 12 minute dash in the morning implies, I don't usually check my outfit in the mirror! Having said that, I only lay out outfits for work that I have already tried and tested IFYSWIM. Occasionally my early morning efficiency has backfired when I have arrived at work to find at mysterious stain on some item of clothing... I try to be more careful about checking out the clothes when I lay them out the night before now.

Today I am presenting to the Board and am wearing my purple Oliver Bonas dress here in grey that I always get compliments on to make me feel like I can knock them dead! Plus opaques and shoes almost the same as this.

LetThemEatCake · 14/04/2010 09:02

good luck today notyummy!! Hope it goes well.

We don't own a mirror Is that weird? Just a sort of 30x40cm face-looking one set into the bathroom cabinet. I have no idea how I look when I leave the house. Try to avoid looking in shop window reflections as well, don't want any nasty surprises!!

carciofi · 14/04/2010 09:09

Hi all, just checking in quickly.

I am going to Dublin today for a funeral, the mother of a good friend.

Bunny, I love the See by Chloe bag and I am sure you can get a discount ... does amex25 still work?

Sympathies on the sleep, DD is mostly a great sleeper now but really only since last autumn.

Belated happy birthday to your DS, Fleecy, my DD is 2 next week. I always have a quick look in the mirror before I go out, ever since I went to work wearing one black shoe and one navy shoe!

I liked the navy Zara blazer in the Sunday Times, did you manage to find it, Choo?

I'm looking forward to snapping up a £1 Marc Jacobs bag on Friday!

Tracey, thanks for the link to the grey skinny jeans. They are a little short for me but I am going to go into Donna Ida next week. I like the Brora blouse, I was thinking of getting it as well.

Your outfit sounds great, Notyummy.

traceybath · 14/04/2010 09:29

Notymmy - outfit sounds good and hope your presentation goes well.

LTEC - no mirror! But how do you know if stuff is good when you get it online?

Carciofi - hope today goes ok.

Romanarama · 14/04/2010 09:30

How can you not have a mirror????? How do you know what all your online purchases actually look like?????? I always triple check before leaving the house.

LetThemEatCake · 14/04/2010 09:31

We have a got a mirror in our spare room refered to (in hallowed tones) as 'the magic mirror' as it makes anyone drop a dress size. Depending on how your self esteem is on any given day you can either you can either use the one in our bedroom....or go to the spare room for a confidence boost!

Will be going into my Board meeting shortly. Thanks for the good vibes.

traceybath · 14/04/2010 09:44

Notyummy - my sister has one of those mirrors on her landing. I can spend ages looking in it.

My mirror in my bedroom is unflattering - I work on the basis that if I look ok in that then the clothes must really be ok.

Do hate the fairground mirrors in shops though.

LetThemEatCake · 14/04/2010 09:52

well that's partly it. I just don't trust mirrors. My perception is shaky at best too (long-held image issues) Am slave enough to scales so when we moved house and there were no mirrors .. I intended to get some but well, after a few weeks realised I was better off without.

If I am really unsure I sometimes take a photo. Just the once though, not every time I wear the outfit in question!!

traceybath · 14/04/2010 09:57

LOL at you with your photos - you put them on a special programme on your mac don't you . Is it Tamara Mellon who does that - I'm sure I read that in some article about her.

Its cold and grey here today - brrr.

LetThemEatCake · 14/04/2010 10:14

what does Mellon do??!!!

I don't load them!!! just click, look, delete. Am married to a cameraman. It's all his fault.

monkeysmama · 14/04/2010 10:14

Hope today goes ok carciofi sounds really sad.

Good luck notyummy! Made me smile at memories of presenting to the board and realise it is two years next week since I stopped working . It is funny how my job was such a fundamental part of me and I panicked and over worked for my entire maternity leave only to stop one day and never go back.

We have a full length mirror inside my wardrobe door which makes it hard to hide new purchases . I've finally allowed some colour to enter my wardrobe so it is quite noticable when dp opens the door to look at himself and sees something bright and new in the sea of black and grey. I've made quite a few eBay purchases recently and he is a bit at me wearing clothes someone else has bought (even though they all have tags on). I suggested I might go to one of the Mrs Brown's clothes swap days next week and he almost fell over asking why I need to wear second hand clothes.

No mirror Cakey?! I spend a lot of time looking in mine . I have been known to take the odd outfit photo. Well, tbh I have about 15 photos of outfits that 'work' stuck to the wardrobe door so I can see them and be inspired quickly when tired and in a rush.

My new white jeans arrived Tracey and I am really pleased with them so a big thank you. Not sure how I will wear them and when - my dd loves a cuddle and I always have dirty shoes rubbing against me - but I like them.

I am still very undecided about a mid heel for summer. I like these Carvela ones a lot still. I am really fussy about the colour of my metals though (I seem to recall I have a A&W friend on this) and I wear a lot of silver and wonder if the brass buckles will look silly (to me) Basically I need a shoe to wear with hareems and rolled up chinos and think I need a low heel.

I forgot to tell you all my big news. I had my second driving lesson last night. Fells so odd to not be able to drive at all - then four hours later to be reversing and turning corners (or trying to). I am not enjoying it massively but cannot wait to be able to take dd out in the car.

Dd's new mini micro scooter has just arrived so off to the park. Why is it all grey again? What happened to spring?

MarshaBrady · 14/04/2010 10:44

We have one one huge elevated mirror in the main bathroom. But I have to stand on a chair to see whole outfit. The light is hugely flattering, it scares me.

I am planning on buying a huge one from a place called Viaduct in London. Take photos sometimes. But still don't feel I know what I look like. Rely too much on other people's comments. Would film/video fix this I wonder?

PlumSykes · 14/04/2010 11:22

Morning!

Off to a playdate at the v. chi-chi fabulous house of one of DD's little school buddies.

Had minor outfit trauma (planned look doesn't work with new cropped hair, I discovered-plaid shirtdress made me look v v butch, which I'm really not!) but have gone with

Bright coral drape front jersey top, ancient Topshop
Long navy cardi with short sleeves, kookai
Navy leggings
dark-toned floral vast scarf from H&M Garden Collection
Navy/grey letaher shopper with brass hardware, Jigsaw
Tan Frye Campus boots

not my finest hour, but better than the dodgy look of ten mins ago, and at leats it's not jeans!

MarshaBrady · 14/04/2010 11:32

Sounds good Plum, have fun!

Ds1 is with inlaws today. Ds2 asleep on me. House is cleaner-cleaned so can do nothing for a bit. Have new Grazia somewhere. Quite nice!
