Sorry to hear about the ear infection fel1x.

Lots of calpol, nurofen and cuddles...and maybe antibiotics? DD ended up in hospital in Feb with a chest infection (that was diagnosed as swine flu over the phone so no antibiotics given and told to STAY AWAY from doctor . We ended up taking her to GP after 4 days anyway (although they huffed and puffed about infection risk and made us come in through a side door, where the doctor was waiting all gowned up like an extra from 'Outbreaak' - I kid you not...) and they blue lighted us to the hospital. I am paranoid now about checking all these things out.

LetThemEatCake · 13/04/2010 08:44

oh no Fel1x poor little ds. I had loads of ear infections as a child, horrid. Hop you're both okay.

mm I know it's been discussed a great deal on this thread but those shoes would look very lovely with the All Saints Layla, wouldn't they?

Was hanging up last night's purchases this am and was a bit and to see how many new things have not yet been worn. Have been waiting to be skinny/ for warmer weather etc etc - well, no more!! My new, wise resolution is to wear at least one new thing a day. None of this wearing 20% of my wardrobe 80% of the time nonsense.

so today am going to museum with a friend and her kids (and my kids of course) Am wearing:

7 jeans (bought end of Feb)
Zara breton top (beginning March)
Ash trainers (last year)
Primark navy circle straw long-strap bag over shoulder for keys/ change/ lip gloss
and all nappy stuff has been transferred to Marc Jacobs pink bag which I bought a month or so ago and had totally forgotten I had

Morning all, beautiful sunny day here too. (Now I'm pleased our holidays were later than the rest of the country's!)

monkeysmama, I'm going to start doing this target toning dvd again. I did start while ttc dc3. While I was pregnant I was charmingly recommended the blast off belly fat dvd. Now I see they're together in a double pack.
I feel really motivated today to tone up and lose the weight before summer. I have about 16 weeks to be beach ready, and would love to lose 14 lbs, or ok, 10 at the least.
Regarding swimming/lounging at the beach wear. this is my secret weapon although there was 20% off at the time. It reminds me of the lovely red carpet dress Emily Blunt wore with the ruffle down the front. Or was it Penelope Cruz. Sort of grape colour. Anyone with me??

Re names, I didn't post for months as I couldn't think of a name. I ended up choosing the name of my favourite MAC creme blush, now discontinued. Not too happy with though.

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:01

Oh Felix - poor you and poor, poor DS1 ! My DD had an ear infection last Chrimbo and its v upsetting for them isn't it? Hope he's well v soon...Yes, calpol, nurofen, liquids and poss antib as ny said! We took DD on Boxing Day! and she was pretty poorly - that was after about 3 days of her being unwell...and the doc said it was quite a bad infection...(we didn't even realise it was an infection!!). Best of luck...

Cakey - wow! Good on you - a manic, yet successful shopping experience! Like those shoes to wear with trench btw! And those biker skinnies sound great...Tracey - not sure where Zara is - are you talking Bath?

Oh I must start some pilates or something...Okay I go for power walks (snigger) around le village and through fields with Phil and Teds and 2 kids in buggy...but not focussing enough on tum!

My DCs b'days: DS 22 July; DD 18 Aug; DD 2 Oct...

Felt really guilty last night ... putting DS to bed (3.5), and he's been stringing things out a bit recently...,'ooh, you haven't kissed me', ...'you didn't say goodnight', etc. Last night he said the usual last thing, 'I need some water', which I usually get, somewhat impatiently....well last night I sweetly said, 'okay, darling,' and duly got it for him, and when I returned he was surprised and said...'you didn't even get cross Mummy'!!!...Oh, I was mortified and felt sooooooo guilty!!! Resolve to be an ever so patient, kind, sweet Mummy as much as possible....!!!

traceybath · 13/04/2010 09:04

So pretty

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:10

Cakey - I think you are so right about wearing things...I have had to work at this, as my Mother is v much a keep things for best lady...but I think that's a waste...and we should look nice/make an effort daily! Because we're worth it!!!!! Okay, I am sitting here in me dressing gown typing this but showered, blow dried and ready to get dressed any minute!!!

Just out of interest, do you ladies tend to get showered, dressed, maquillaged, as soon as you get up! I'm up at 6.30 am but have to feed baby first (firs bottle of the day!), and the dilemma is that when DS starts school in September I am going to have to be suited and booted before I get kids up (7 ish), otherwise I can see it being impossible!!!!

MarshaBrady · 13/04/2010 09:13

Ooh another lovely day woohoo.

Ltec I too have been wearing more of my wardrobe (not at once of course). But it is a very new leaf since ds2 and my old ds1 friends have noticed the difference and I am much happier. What I used to wear ach! I even dug out some soft leather caramel-coloured boots from Liberty that had been worn twice! So glad.

TraceyB I'm thinking Bloch bright flats, large straw sunhat and some shorts first and foremost. That's all I need, but may end up seeing some other good stuff.

That antique lace top is gorgeous (terrible on me) but fabulous on you I think.

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:21

liking these

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:22

Tracey - like the top!

notyummy · 13/04/2010 09:25

I am trying (but failing quite often...) to wear more of my wardrobe. Today I am wearing a Top Shop top and New Look trousers....both of which are AT LEAST 6 years old. Or does that make me wise?? I do have wardrobe clearouts though!

dolce - I leave for work at 6 15am, so I lay out all my clothes the night before having checked the blackberry for what meetings I have on. I can do bed to car in 12 minutes (I was in the military for 7 years and it is great training for getting ready efficiently!) This includes shower/toothbrush/and 5 different creams applied to various bits of me! I do my make-up at traffice lights (I know....) as my journey is 1 1/2 hours.

On Friday/Saturday/Sunday when I am at home with dd I tend to get up shower and dress (although not do make -up) and then we have breakfast together. DD (3.5) gets herself dressed whilst I am showering. I always put her stuff out the night before.

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:30

Thanks ny!!! Now, 5 different creams .... explain!!!!

notyummy · 13/04/2010 09:32

I quite like those sandals dolcee. I am stilling umming and ahhing about getting a pair of that type, having seen somethuing similar in Top Shop (basically similar to Hasbeens but cheaper with slightly lower heel.) Being tall, a 2 " heel is more appealing than a 3 " - DH tends to get a bit if i tower over him too much...

AllBuggiedOut · 13/04/2010 09:34

Unrelated to clothes, but I hope somebody might be able to help. I need a stylish oil cloth for my table. I'm getting a new oak table as a late christmas present. It's our only dining table. It's not quite in the kitchen, but not in a formal dining room either IYKWIM. We use it for everything from playdoh and homework to eating. It'll be a large table (1m x 2m ish) in a small room. The room has F&B "string" walls and curtains with squashed circles in gentle, neutral-ish colours (mustard, beiges, dusky purple etc). Any ideas please?

LetThemEatCake · 13/04/2010 09:34

tracey that Brora top is v.similar to the one I saw for £15 so hold off until you go to Zara!!

Romanarama · 13/04/2010 09:37

dolce, I set the alarm for 6.15, and shower, dress and do make up before I get the kids up at 6.45. I find everything much easier if I put out their and my clothes the night before. DH usually takes kids to school at 7.45, but occasionally remembers at the last minute that he can't because he has an early meeting, so I prefer to be ready to go.

I can't keep up with this thread at the mo. Too much on and am trying to waste spend less time on the the internet.

Off to NYC on Saturday for a week, so saving my shopping for then! Bloomingdales here I come.....

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:39

Hi Allbuggied out! We had the whole spectrum of neutral F&B shades in our old house (renting this one)...so sounds fab!!!!

How about Cath Kidston's taupe/cream spot? Its classic and about the only oilcloth I can stomach! But v necessary....We have it here (JL do cheaper version, but only soft green/cream or pale blue/cream....

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:42

Ny lol !!!!! You are sooo funny!!! But I bet you look gorgeous anyway!!!

Romanarama - thanks....Seems like I should be doing the same...I do hate it when postie catches me in my nightgown!!!!

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:46

Yes, NY I quite like the sandals too!!! Hasbeeny but not quite so clumpy to my mind...and they are in the sale!!!

DolceeBanana · 13/04/2010 09:48

Romanarama Have a fab time in NYC !!!!

traceybath · 13/04/2010 10:12

Dolcee - on school days we're all out the house by 8am. I tend to get up at 6am to enable us to all be ready by 8am.

Luckily my dc's love watching me do my make-up

And like notyummy everything for everyone is laid out the night before.

mrsjuan · 13/04/2010 10:13

romanarama - have a great time. I love love love NY.

The subject of sleep is very close to my heart at the moment! DD is so inconsistent. About once a week she will sleep through which gives me just enough energy to cope with her shenanigans the rest of the time - she goes to sleep fine at about 7 but from 1am it is anyones guess as to what the night will bring - sometimes a quick dummy run will do the trick, other times she will settle in our bed, other times she's up wide awake for over an hour at a time
I've driven myself mad trying to come to a solution but I've come to the conclusion that there's no pattern or reason at all so I'm just going to have to ride it out and hope it gets better soon.
Coming to a bit of a blank on work shoes - I think ballet flats would work but need them to be comfy and a bit more sturdy than the average.A bit like these but a bit edgier.

traceybath · 13/04/2010 10:15

Roman - v jealous of your NY visit - say hello to Bergdorfs.

LTEC - right - very excited about zara trip now - roll on saturday
