Wonder how quickly we'll fill this one?

OP posts:
vinauchocolat · 29/03/2010 16:23

you've made me cry now, stop being nice!! stop it right now

blossoming I am very, very sorry for your loss, too. I'm sorry I don't know any details but well if you ever want to chat I am here, there is also a bereaved mummies thread on MN where everyone is lovely, but it is the kind of thread you wish you didn't have a right to be on

She was really a darling, didn't want to reveal too much.. but she died last Easter so it's all a bit weird, still. She was fine happy and healthy until she was 1, then became very ill caused by a virus, and spent months in hospital, had transplants that failed, became brain damaged during an op, was in lots of pain. I can totally understand SamCam having another baby after Ivan because even if you do have other children, it will never make up for that huge gaping hole left by the DC who didn't make it. DS has come along since DD died but it doesn't make it any easier at all and I irrationally worry that he too will become ill one day, so I'm not sure having another one right now would be the right time, it's all a bit soon.

Sorry for the down post- back to shopping!!

vinauchocolat · 29/03/2010 16:26

phew.. tracey- great shoes! Love that shade, v classic and versatile but still hasbeens

Fel1x · 29/03/2010 16:27

Vin, am so sorry for your loss

Fel1x · 29/03/2010 16:29

good choice tracey - i just ordered those ones in black... i did originally want tan colour but ordered through asos for send backability and they only had black or pink in that style so plumped for black!

traceybath · 29/03/2010 16:29

Vin - that must have been incredibly hard for you and your family .

I have 3 dc's and lets just say number 3 was a delightful surprise. And I blame Barack Obama - you see we were so thrilled he won the election, drank a lot of wine and hey presto - 9 months later - hello Beatrice.

We went to the museum in Bristol this morning - grotty day but nice trip out. Am trying to plan fun things for each day of the holiday. DS1 can't wait for tomorrow as its sort the playroom out day - oh yes, I know how to have fun .

Have finally ordered a new sports bra so have no excuse not to go running in the mornings before school.

traceybath · 29/03/2010 16:30

Oh who else has had the invite from the outnet for a £1 sale on the 16th april?

MarshaBrady · 29/03/2010 16:31

Vin lovely, so sorry for the loss of your daughter.

MarshaBrady · 29/03/2010 16:32

yes Tracey have just signed up. I can only guess how slow the site will run for that one!

traceybath · 29/03/2010 16:38

I know Marsha - their last sale was so painful.

LetThemEatCake · 29/03/2010 17:09

Vin I am so unspeakably sorry for your loss and all the anxiety that preceded it.

re: the outnet sale. It's funny. I was just ruminating on the fact that of all of the losses on this (undeniably girly, clothes-obsessed) thread, seem to have been girls. And thinking how glad i am to have dd to share all the girliness with one day, and how I wish I had my other dd to do likewise with. And then I got the Outnet email - and the sale is on the anniversary of the day that my little Star was born and died. So for a second I liked to think that she's trying to get be part of the fashion-frenzied fun too

Having said that, yes, the site will be so unbearably slow that I really don't know whether I can face it.

tracey hurrah on the Hasbeens!! They are the same as mine (style-wise .. diff colour though) I think they are the nicest, even if you don't stand all pigeon-toed like the model

bunjies · 29/03/2010 17:18

Vin - so terribly sorry for your loss.

We have 3 dc and whilst I love dd2 dearly it is unfortunate that she is the most 'difficult' of all our children. We have certainly had some moments with her and it has taken all our training to deal with them. There have been occasions when dh and I have looked at each other wondering exactly how it is she is 'enhancing our lives' (the words I used to convince him to try for dc3!) but we wouldn't have it any other way .

Romana - how did interview go?

Esher - holiday looks amazing.

Ollie - What a pain about the coffee but excellent excuse for a redecorate. I want the Erin wallpaper for my bedroom wall too!! (It's dd1's name so it's meant to be). I'm thinking of the greeny one.

No links from me, spent all day gardening .

vinauchocolat · 29/03/2010 17:25

LTEC I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, too. The date being the same sounds like she may be telling you she's somewhere nearby.
It's weird I sometimes think maybe I wouldn't shop quite so avidly had DD not died..I certainly bought way too much after she died as a way of distracting myself, most of it has never been worn as it was very unwise RL purchasing, but then I do recall shopping very avidly way before I had her so I don't think I can use it as an excuse really! I do find myself feeling sad that DS isn't really able to wear her many lovely dresses.. I sometimes look at him sideways and wonder if he'd look pretty but I think it may be some form of child abuse. Shame! No doubt he will be grubby football mad mud monster child!

Ladies, I must draw your attention to these hideous shoes - apologies if anyone owns/likes them, but ick...!

Fleecy · 29/03/2010 18:01

vin so sorry for your loss

ollie my mum has the Erin wallpaper on her landing. Hers is the charcoal and gold one and as you walk up the stairs, the landing light catches the gold beautifully. It's lovely.

We had the black kimono wallpaper on one wall in our bedroom at our last house - we have pale cream French antique style bedroom furniture and it looked amazing against the black. Funnily enough, we have a sort of pale teal/duck egg in our bedroom in this house. I like the summer palace paper in the blues but it's a bit feminine - not sure DH would go for it

We also chose Farrow and Ball for our dining room (Eating room red I think) and it's a lovely flat matt finish, almost chalky.

traceybath · 29/03/2010 18:33

Esher - glad you had a good holiday and look forward to seeing links of potential purchases.

Choogirl - hope you get holdiday booked.

Talking of holidays - it was in school weekly newsletter that one family had been in the hotel room next to John Terry at his recent make amends holiday to Dubai - bet that was fun.

All this house decoration talk is making me very - I can't wait to buy our next house and get into interiors stuff again.

LTEC - have a fun night.

Hells - Bea still a monkey at night and joined by DS2 last night. Just tried to give Bea a bottle - yeap, she's having none of that.

hellsbelles · 29/03/2010 19:27

Tracey - you must be exhausted. Has someone else tried giving her the bottle rather than you? Could your mum or DH try? When I was trying to get DS off the bottle that was how we had to do it. If I was near he wasn't having any of a plastic bottle when there was a nice warm boob within the vicinity.

Love the hasbeens I have the almost identical 'high' ones (not super high) and in red.

I'm going to have to do the LTEC trick of wearing them with socks to soften them up as my fat feet are still a little uncomfortable in them.

I had a very disappointing Net-a-porter delivery. I ordered this which was beautifully made but wasn't wow enough to justify the price. And in a fit of 'I don't know what' I also got a hideously expensive Fendi cuff to try. I have very thin wrists - I really do but this was bloody agony to try on. I knew in my heart of hearts it was too expensive anyway - but it was rather good to find that it was very uncomfortable.

LTEC - I think your little Star is indeed getting involved. And how lovely that she is.

I do find it bitterly sad that so many of us on this thread have suffered losses. It seems a horrifyingly disproportionate amount for such a happy thread.

Romanarama · 29/03/2010 19:31

Thank you for the nice wishes! I think intvu went really well, though apparently the competition is huge for this one so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much yet.

Got choos back in the right size from nap, but I don't like them much. I'm sending them back and getting these instead. If I get the job I have a wishlist full of workwear. I will also treat my beautiful pooch to something from Holly and Lil

So sad to hear of all the bereavements on this thread. Goodness how brave to face another day after that experience vin. I would like a dd, but am not sure that another baby would be the right thing for our family now really. Luckily I have 9 lovely nieces though none nearby at the moment .

Now must catch up on the links before dh gets back from whatever work dinner he's at.

hellsbelles · 29/03/2010 19:40

Well done Roman - great to hear it went well. I love love love those shoes. I want them but alas would have very little occasion to wear them (I think they are very elegant work shoes - and I don't have to dress up for work). So I'm happy that one of our A&W ladies will be wearing them.

traceybath · 29/03/2010 19:52

Hells - will get DH to try bottle at the weekend - DS2 tried (he's 2) but that wasn't terribly great either although amusing.

Annoying about your NAP order - have you thought any more about what you're going to wear with your gorgeous purple YSL dress?

Roman - fingers crossed regarding the interview. Love those shoes.

hellsbelles · 29/03/2010 19:59

Oh Tracey - I love that DS2 tried. What a little sweetheart.

Not sure on accessories with dress. Jersey is quite tricky isn't it? I need to find a really lovely mid heel (can't do super high) and possibly a rather amazing necklace as it is quite plunging (I am going to do a bit of sewing to make it suitable for a church )

Zembo · 29/03/2010 20:08

Blossoming - I'm not that far behind you - 39 in 3 months and counting! I keep getting told its no age these days to have another child. I'm definitely aiming for the 'magic' (yet currently unatainable due to lack of co-operation from DH)number 3 and will be on the case as soon as I get the green light

Very sad to hear of so many losses - does seem v disproportionate.

LTEC hope you're enjoying feeling fab in your rats!

Tracey looking forward to your report on the hasbeens - I haven't found anything nicer either so am currently listing kiddy clothes on ebay to fund them!

Zembo · 29/03/2010 20:12

Also LTEC saw this maxi in the window today, looked gorgeous. I'm not eligible for that shop (major understatement) but thought I'd let you know about it.

OllieWollieWoo · 29/03/2010 20:19

Vin - such a sad story. I'm sorry for your loss.

Glad interview went well Romanarama.

Our bad luck continues here - DS2 managed to scratch a car with his little loop fiets (one of those bikes without pedels). Left quite a big scratch so I left a note (in English) explaining what had happened with DH's mobile number! Turns out its a neighbours brand new car - and of course its the weird neighbour (we call him The Piano Teacher cos we dont know his name and thats what he does!!!). Oh well.

Am def going to go with Erin wallpaper - esp as its now half price (does that mean they are going to withdraw it - take note bunjies!!???! Maybe its just on offer?) Just realised I referred to our ceiling height in previous post as 10m - when of course I meant 10ft!!!! Would love the pink but our house is a no-pink zone (until I get a study/room to myself when DS is old enough to have a bedroom in the attic!) and DH will just about tolerate the eau de nil or the linen in the bedroom - and thats taken a year of me convincin him! Fleecey - your bedroom sounds lovely.

Off to check out Blochs now - not heard of them before and have been looking for some decent pumps.
Do like these tho but they may be a touch too twee? here

Oh yes - sorry allbuggiedout but lacking suggestions re what to wear with jeans! I have a couple of tops from White Stuff from last year, a coral printed t which I sometimes wear with a long sleeved t underneath, a couple of short sleeved cardis, and a new blue chambray fitted tunic from New Look that looks good with indigo jeans.

OllieWollieWoo · 29/03/2010 20:21

Zembo - that dress is lovely. Good link!

eshermummy · 29/03/2010 20:23

Evening everyone

Really sorry to hear about the loss of your DD Vin. As I have mentioned before, I too have lost a dd (although in totally different circs as mine was a loss late in pg and she was born asleep.) It was very sad at the time and I do think about her often but not in the same way as I would had I lost one of my other dd's - I cannot imagine what it must be to lose a child that you have had alive iyswim. Sorry, hope that doesn't belittle anyone else's loss - is not what I mean at all, hope I am making sense. I do understand the need to get pg as quickly as possible though following such an event. I was pg with DD2 within 6 weeks of losing my dd and I do not know how well I would have coped had I not fallen pg so quickly.

Fleecy - I have the LA Erin in charcoal/gold as the curtains on the upstairs landing and I love it
In fact, virtually all the curtains in the house are big/trailing florals with everything else really plain. I am supposed to be redecorating the dining room and making it into a family room/tv room but am really lacking inspiration as DH has said no more florals!!

Right, well I said I would try and link to a few things, so here goes. No rhyme or reason to it all, just things I have seen in magazines etc which I thought were worthy of your attention

There was a pale camel suede trench by John Rocha at Debenhams £250 but it doesn't seem to be on the site?

Really nice wedges for those that do and a lovely price too, they looked lovelier in the magazine than they do here

Am really taken with the idea of a white watch with a white ceramic/plastic strap like this

This bag would look lovely with double denim

Very pretty and summery and rather cheap

These shorts would work with pastels and/or nudes. I like the grey

Tracey - did you buy the Otelo's in the end? I bought these in R&B today (Esherdaddy is such an enabler) and am v pleased with them as not too high for daytime and slightly more fierce and less granny chic than the Otelo's imo.

more nice wedges

Sorry, can't remember who linked to the denim dresses earlier but I liked the first one, am thinking of getting a long denim shirt myself. Anyone else considering doing double denim? Is it doable by mere mortals as opposed to moggles or do I run the risk of looking like Natalie Hartley ???

Romanarama · 29/03/2010 20:48

Heavens! Just googled Erin wallpaper to see what it was and came up with this! Imagine having that on the wall.
