LTEC enjoyed your post.

I really appreciate all of your messages. Thank you.

And back to shopping.

Verity I really like that dress too.

My Urban Outfitters www.urbanoutfitters.co.uk/Cowl-Neck-Tank/invt/5747428381010&bklist=icat,5,shop,sale,salechristmasw,w saleaw09tops purchases arrived. Nude top is very thin but I'll wear it with a nude vest underneath. Red (actually magenta) top is going back.

Did anyone see the Black Rats in the Observer magazine? My torso is too short to carry off the boxy jacket look but I did like the Whistles top she linked to.

I've realised that I planned my a/w wardrobe badly. Well, I didn't plan. I have lots of things that either don't go together or aren't warm enough. I have totally had enough of this weather. I love hot weather but all I want is some sun and to be able to go out without a coat and spending half hour wrapping dd up so she's warm enough but then can't move properly once we get to the park.

I wish I had another two outfits I felt happy with in this weather but am loathe to spend more money on warm stuff. So, instead I need to buy a denim jacket and my search for a maxi dress goes on. I am also looking for some blingtastic gold sunglasses and some silver sandals with bits on (not gems, more shiny coin style things)

I am thinking of these as a good wear-with-everything sandal. The brown and black means they'd go with most of my wardrobe.

Has everyone got their Hasbeens now? What is the verdict? I am thinking about [[http://www.kurtgeiger.com/online-shop/159429-kurt-geiger-jola these] but not sure how to wear them - are they a jeans kind of shoe or will they go with summer dresses and shorts? I also really like these and these - what do you all think and how would you wear them?

I'm not usually a fan of this kind of shoe but something about these is talking to me. And I am wondering if they'd be a way to work in the nude trend with jeans etc. though I have limited occasions for wearing heels.

Hi MM, I like the Anabelle shoes the best, I think you could wear them with both skirts and trousers.

LTEC, wholeheartedly agree with your observations! I often used to walk up to the Kings rd with DD in the pram, have coffee and a browse then stroll home. Those days are long gone! £49 for jeans is great.

I am fairly careful with my clothes, especially bags, to my dh's amusement.

My bags sold but no one has paid yet and I decided that I should put the money on my credit card instead of buying the Missoni scarf, much as I love it! I bought a lot in February, now that I think about it and I am sure Missoni will still be selling scarves when I have more money.

mrsjuan · 01/03/2010 08:58

Aghhh - navy dress and discount code where where where?

mm - I like the KG sandals - think they could be very useful during the summer and the kojak ones but not sure what they'd go with.

I am not as careful as I shoud be with my clothes. I do make sure they are ironed and folded or hung up after washing but my problem is after I've worn something but it's not actually dirty (rare with DD around) I don't put it away so I tend to have a bit of a random collection on the chair in my bedroom which then get crumpled so I don't want to wear them again aso I end up washing them again anyway!

MarshaBrady · 01/03/2010 09:08

I agree with the online being better than shops (except Liberty but only twice a year or so and taxi/car only)

I am not great with my clothes, I always hang them up as I can't bear the mess but they do get worn out, plus I am not always ultra neat, bit more carefree or something (especially hair).

Lovely day today, boots should turn up from outnet sooo just got to hang around for that then a nice long walk.

MM I really like those black/brown KG sandals.

monkeysmama -Jola - don't like, Carvela, both of them - do you have good legs? Love the KG Hibiscus, but heel quite high, would you really ever wear them rather than just gaze longingly at them in your wardrobe. Would wear with skirts and jeans and shorts in summer.

LetThemEatCake · 01/03/2010 09:12

MM I am considering those 2nd KG shoes for me too

notyummy · 01/03/2010 09:12

OllieWollieWoo · 01/03/2010 09:45

Lovely, lovely dress notyummy.

Quick question - whats Oasis sizing like - am normally a 12 in Next/M&S/Coast/Monsoon - would I be a 14 in Oasis esp as its a slim fit style of dress???? Whats your experience? That ruffle dress I like has come back in stock in a 12 - v tempted.

notyummy · 01/03/2010 09:54

I think you would get away with a 12 in Oasis. I don't think their sizing is particularly small.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 01/03/2010 10:24

Agree with notyummy on Oasis sizing. If you are a 12 in the others you should be a 12 there too.

I am building up to a trip to town with DD later. Will let you know if I see anything nice. There isn't a vast amount of choice near us though so may do internet shopping later .

Morning All - flying visit as in-laws here and mil being brilliant and doing lots of ironing.

I look after my clothes - and lordy could never put whites in with anything else - you've made me come over all faint libra .

LTEC - sounds like you did well - I do find bicester very hit and miss.

I too prefer online shopping as like to try stuff on with my other stuff to see if it works. I also always end up feeling a bit pressured in the more expensive boutiquey type shops.

Lovely dinner last night - wore my new j brands a silk jigsaw top and black tuxuedo jacket with very high shoe boots. Looked nice although maybe a little judy from richard and judy

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 01/03/2010 10:28

dexter73 · 01/03/2010 10:35

I prefer RL shopping as I like to feel and see the clothes. Also I hate paying delivery charges...and returns! Mind you I don't have small children so that makes it a lot easier.

blossoming · 01/03/2010 10:38

Hi all, thanks for your kind words too.
My daughter died in December. She was three.
She had cerebral palsy and I cared for her full time. Lots of time on my hands now though the baby keeps me busy.
People still tell me how lovely my daughter always looked. I always put her in lovely clothes and did her hair nice. It was important to me and to her that people had something positive to say about her instead of focusing on her disability. I don't understand people who think clothes don't matter.
Hope you don' mind me sharing.

notyummy · 01/03/2010 11:01

Blossoming - thank you for telling us about your daughter. I am sure she looked beautiful and you sound like a very proud mother.

GeorginaWorsley · 01/03/2010 11:09

blossoming I am a paeds nurse and have looked after lots of special needs children, but your post has left me with tears in my eyes.I have a beautiful mental picture of such a pretty litle girl now.
Hopefully that is how she will remain in your memory.

notyummy love the Topshop dress.
I find Warehouse/Topshop /Oasis and French Connection can do some fab silk dresses,if you look hard enough!

LTEC am so with you on the internet shopping thing.
I live in Cheshire so Manchester would be my shopping venue of choice, but I go around twice a year!Sometimes venture to John lewis/Marks and Spencer 1/2 hr away.
Much prefer to have the world at my fingertips with a coffee!

notyummy · 01/03/2010 11:15

Desigual sizing is small hanaflower - I am a UK size 10 on the top, and had to buy a 42 in Desigual because the 40 was so tight across the chest. According to the conversion charts that is a UK size 16!!!! My boobs are tiny and I haven't exactly got a weight lifters back.....

VerityBrulee · 01/03/2010 11:42

Oh, blossoming

Huge hugs to you, I can't imagine anything more awful. I so understand how important it was to dress your dd nicely, it's one of the joys of having a dd.

Thinking of you xx

VerityBrulee · 01/03/2010 11:54

LTEC, I'm so with you on the shopping. I love looking around the shops but find I buy less and less in RL. Too much hassle with dc, lack of choice and really bad exchange rates in UK multiples (Topshop major culprit here)mean I do most of my shopping online now.

5 parcels from the postman today, a cream cashmere boyfriend cardigan from J Crew, a pink cashmere cardigan for dd, J Crew again, an Orla Keily vintage sunhat, and a cool t shirt for ds1. All ebay, none of which I would have been able to find in RL Dublin.

I love those KG Kojaks, I can see you in them now. I have my eye on these these for spring. I have boxes of virtually unworn sandals in the wardrobe I have bought over the last few years, but I ended up wearing wellies instead.

OP posts:
Fleecy · 01/03/2010 11:59

blossoming I also had tears in my eyes reading your post. Can't imagine what you must have been through these last few months

verity am also a big eBay fan and log on to my emails as soon as I can each day to see what's come in on my searches.

bunnymother · 01/03/2010 12:04

Blossoming - I'm so sorry your sweet daughter died, and I can completely understand you always wanting her to look nice. I am also a believer in the power of looking good - its sending a message out about who you are. Looks are a genetic roll of the dice, but how you present yourself is a conscious message.

Cakey - I honestly gasped, you dislike Carrie Bradshaw?! I am a huge SATC fan, and she is my fave. Although horses for courses. Don't think I didn't notice the "by jingo"... I understand what you mean about RL shopping. I still do a lot of it, but I get all the essentials over the internet (groceries esp).

Hana - I know what you mean about Covent Garden being full of tourists, but some of those are def yokels. Of course I no longer think of myself as a tourist, so seem to feel free at sneering at those I do consider tourists.

My clothes get left on a chair in our room, which makes for a nice surprise to see what I own every now and then. [slob emoticon]

Have to run - DD FINALLY down for a nap and have 3 tonnes of washing to do. Give or take.

hellsbelles · 01/03/2010 12:38

hello all,

Dashing in quickly as I'm at work all day today (praying that DD doesn't take her first steps while i'm not there). Will catch up later.

Blossoming. I really wish I had the right words (I don't I'm afraid...I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through) - but as Georgina said - you have given us a wonderful picture to imagine of your little daughter.
