I got married in a sequined mini dress from Dorothy Perkins - picture on profile.

not everyone's dream dress - but originally I wanted to get married in a white bikini on a beach but having 2 children and being 40 put paid to that.....

suwoo · 05/01/2010 14:47

this is mine. It was a very pale pink, not sure if you can see that. It was 2005, so pre Jordans pink trashy wedding.

MrsBadger · 05/01/2010 14:51

this

although obv in real life I have a head

bluesuedepews · 05/01/2010 14:54

A pink tweedy type shift dress, with silver thread running through it. It was from Kookai and had a matching jacket. When I bent over to sign the register everyone saw my knickers [slut].

grumblealltheway · 05/01/2010 14:56

I'm currently in the process of sorting out my dress for my wedding - it's an oxfam one so needs A LOT of work. This thread is great for having a sneck at everyone and their dress. MN's are so blimmin attractive!

pippy - your whole family is drop dead gorgeous.

yellowflowers · 05/01/2010 14:57

£90 off the peg Debenhams long strapless number in a dark silvery grey they call pewter. Felt very smug for not spending lots.

TennisFan · 05/01/2010 14:57

Mine was really plain - straight shift style I think it is called. I made it myself (future DH helped)and it was in off-white linen.
We managed to organise the whole wedding in 6 weeks - easy

TINKERBELLE33 · 05/01/2010 15:13

LetThemEatCake - I loved that dress too! Alan Hannah Madrid if my memory serves me right? Our wedding was very traditional so went with classic A-line Ivory Satin with embroidered bodice in the end.

Bettymum · 05/01/2010 15:13

I got a Vogue paper pattern and my mum made my dress, it was strapless and a very fitted column style made of oyster satin with heavily beaded and sequined cream lace over the top. She made a little lace jacket to go over the top which was unlined. We had a morning trying on expensive dresses in the shops, and then went to John Lewis for the fabric to copy the one we liked. It is gorgeous . Somteimes for a giggle I hold it up to my 6-month pregnant self and laugh .

Wigglesworth · 05/01/2010 15:14

Mine was a Maggie Sottero, an A-Line strapless one piece in white with crystals splashed on the front. I looked stunning even if i do say so myself.

Wigglesworth · 05/01/2010 15:23

It's still on the Maggie Soterro website (just checked). Dress is called Martina, can't do a link sorry.

hannahsaunt · 05/01/2010 15:24

Gorgeous (!) gold damask silk with scoop neck and 100s of tiny buttons to fasten down the back and larger buttons from wrists to elbow - fab for a winter wedding and made me look slightly less like death warmed up than something in white or ivory. I loved it; kind lady in Wales dyed my mum's veil in a bath of tea so that it would match (and restitched it so it was no longer 70s bouffant style). Tiara from reclaimed gold bracelet and pearls topped it all off.

jobobpip08 · 05/01/2010 15:34

Shorts and t-shirt LOL! Got married on a whim on holiday. 10 years and counting so not a bad choice!

becaroo · 05/01/2010 15:37

Mine was very traditional....full length nipped V waist, off the shoulder in white silk and a very small train. It had pearl buttons all the way down the back. It was really plain, but I loved it. I wore a full length veil too (which I hated) and had a pearl encrusted wide alice band as a headdress as I had short cropped hair at the time.

sigh....11 years ago....wish I still had a 23 inch waist.....

Tillyscoutsmum · 05/01/2010 15:40

Mine was red Maggie Sottero (pics on profile)

Some fab looking and sounding dresses on here. I really fancied a 50's style prom length one but just wasn't the right shape for them

FrenchLimeBlossom · 05/01/2010 15:48

Mine was from Stewart Parvin, a beautiful ivory silk twill (autumn wedding up north) with 3/4 sleeves, a scoop neck and a deep v back with a black silk band under the bust and a black silk bow coming from the point of the v at the back, a-line fitted and then flared with a lovely train, internal corset (v good idea!) and was handmade to measure. Sigh. I love it so much.

I am definitely going to have a party one day where all my girlfriends get to wear our wedding dresses!

Moneyspider · 05/01/2010 15:54

Mine had a bolero jacket with high collar and I felt like Snow White (which was ironic)

Pic on profile. God I look young.

arolf · 05/01/2010 15:55

ooh, bigbadmumma - thanks for describing your dress, I'm planning my wedding just now, and had no idea where to get a dress with colour in it!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 05/01/2010 15:59

This is mine

www.bridalweddingdresses.co.uk/wedding-gown-sallie-bee.htm. The top left one.

Ivory with silver embrodery on the bodice.

ThumbleBells · 05/01/2010 16:01

I loved mine. It was the first one I tried on and it was just perfect. But not very "now" - it has half-sleeves and a big skirt. Don't care though - it suited me. Have no waist and not much bust so these fitted bodice strapless jobs were never going to work on me.

ceb80 · 05/01/2010 16:03

Mine was a very simple Ritva Westenius Rio dress. Was gorgeous. But is now sitting in my cupboard, tried it on the other day to check it still fits - just!
What has everyone done with theirs? I sometimes toy with the idea of selling it but then wonder if I'll regret it.

SkaterGrrrrl · 05/01/2010 16:06

Oooh! Discussion of the day!

I got married in winter so channeled the snow queen of narnia look with white 'fur'.

Mine is hanging up in my spare room cupboard.
