specialmagiclady, you don't need to be so bitchy, the "middle-aged sales assistant" has to wear the stock she sells in the shop, she's not out to get you

FrontRowFig · 18/06/2009 16:45

I think she went in to put them on ebfore or something.

chevre · 18/06/2009 16:48

i have a feeling i am never going to wear this dress, i seem to have developed old knees.

noddyholder · 18/06/2009 16:48

Wallis clothes are cut big to make you feel skinny.it works for me

FrontRowFig · 18/06/2009 16:48

have you bought it?
both of us had TWO compliments

chevre · 18/06/2009 16:57

yes i bought it, i put my knee insecurities down to pmt but now i am nervous.

i want compliments!

NorkyButNice · 18/06/2009 16:59

Ah the lovely blue & white frock...I've not actually worn it yet. And have unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it) lost another stone since buying it so it's probably too big now.

Anyone want an H&M frock?

brendaAndEddie · 18/06/2009 17:16

lol
chevre
what colour and how are you wearing it
come on spill

chevre · 18/06/2009 17:17

it is green and i am pulling it over my head and putting my arms through the 2 holes, is there another way?

brendaAndEddie · 18/06/2009 17:19

LOL
i knew you woudld say that.
but hoped against hope you wouldnt.

chevre · 18/06/2009 17:25

how are you wearing it smarty pants!

brendaAndEddie · 18/06/2009 17:26

erm strappy flats

jacket de denim

dangly earrings

chevre · 18/06/2009 17:28

no no to denim! i do have a nice fleece with an owl on it!

i do need help with shoes, gladiators make my eyes bleed.

brendaAndEddie · 18/06/2009 17:30

Lol at owl fleece

fishie · 18/06/2009 19:54

a miracle in ilford wallis! i tried it on again and it fitted! either i have lost half a stone or the other one was a rogue tiny one. navy. to be worn with red patent birks or tan gladiators.

brendaAndEddie · 18/06/2009 20:58

tried WHAT on again?
An owl fleece or the dress?

fishie · 18/06/2009 21:04

ye olde fabled essex owl fleece.

no the DRESS. i have the dress. it looks rather nice, even the shop woman said so. dh said it looked utilitarian so it is def ideal.

brendaAndEddie · 18/06/2009 21:18

EVEN the shop woman?!
was she middle aged

ok oyu haev to wear it RELENTLESSLY untiil you have your 2 compliments

then you can wash it

tattycoram · 18/06/2009 21:21

Is it quite short? It looks short in the pic. Are you lot wearing it over something? I mean leggings or something like that?

brendaAndEddie · 18/06/2009 21:23

its not bum grazing
I wouldnt wear to work
wore shopping without feeling freaky

tattycoram · 18/06/2009 21:24

I see. Tempted by the navy. It was the word utilitarian that did it for me. I want red patent birkies now too (sheep). I already have three pairs of red sandals

fishie · 18/06/2009 22:04

go get tatty. i think all shoes should be red or silver. possibly purple.

it is above knee and i would wear it to work in hot weather. informal dress code but not good to have flesh on show.

shop lady was rather good, there were lots of ilfordites who knew her name. she would certianly not be so upstart as to ape my outfit.

tattycoram · 18/06/2009 22:09

Oooh, right will investigate when next near shops

brendaAndEddie · 19/06/2009 15:02

well our local Wallis looked like the place where you HAD to be on prozac, dresses hidden behind more ritzy ones and the asistants in illguided maxi dresses comme ca

the mate I was with said that the burghers of Trowbridge would find it too on trend it was that bad

cyteen · 19/06/2009 19:16

Grrr, I tried on this dress in purple today expecting great things but was thwarted by my sticky-out post-baby tummy If only the fabric of the dress was a bit stiffer, it would hang better and hide it admirably. As it was I looked like a smart and slim girl about town who is inexplicably wearing a bum bag under her clothes

Still, I did buy a nice top and two pairs of decent looking jeans so it's not all moan moan moan.
