Why is it such a sin to wear black boots with jeans?

And what should I wear instead?

OP posts:

lol @ BIWI showing her photie.

Proud to dye her hair and proud to wear jeans with black footwear. May you go forth and be mighty!

pointydog · 19/04/2009 23:08

bolter, I feel your list would be more succinct and easier to follow if you told us what we cannot wear with bootcut

I think you'll find that they were brown boots, actually.

Oh, and I'm pretty mighty. Which is why my diet has to start tomorrow ...

MollieO · 19/04/2009 23:30

Really? I thought it was school run uniform. That is what I always wear anyway on the very odd occasion I actually do it.

pointydog · 19/04/2009 23:32

@ BIWI

BeckhamSpice · 19/04/2009 23:35

No - these are school run jeans.

Mulanmum1 · 19/04/2009 23:46

I wear jeans that fit on the ... natural waist . Go on - let me have it!

BecauseImWorthIt · 19/04/2009 23:48

You'll be telling us that you wear big pants next.

Mulanmum1 · 19/04/2009 23:55

I might do

KingCanuteIAm · 20/04/2009 00:00

Ooh Mulan where on earth do you get those? I am desperate for some!

I am sick of being told I am not allowed a muffin top (or whatever it is called these days) but then being forced to wear jeans that would force a muffin top on me if I were a size 8

What on earth is wrong with clothes fitting where they are supposed to?

Bonneville · 20/04/2009 00:04

KingCanute - The M&S £12 jeans sit on the waist.

KingCanuteIAm · 20/04/2009 00:16

Ooh thanks BV! I suppose it is too much to ask that they also have nice legs?

Bonneville · 20/04/2009 00:35

Well I find them ok (have got the black ones). There was a whole thread on here recently about them but I dont know how to find it or do links! Maybe some clever person could help!

TheBolter · 20/04/2009 08:31

Pointy, basically IMO you can wear pretty much anything with bootcut jeans (so long as they are the right length) except:

Black boots. Possible exception to this rule - stylish heeled black patents worn with dark jeans.

...As was the original point of the OP. But it has become somewhat convoluted since. Probably not helped by the resulting confusing posts. (Such as my own. )

Amen.

bolter, now that I can remember

Fimbo · 20/04/2009 09:55

I wear banana yellow Fryes.

pointydog · 20/04/2009 10:02

what are fryes?

woodenchair · 20/04/2009 10:03

KingCanuteIAm on the waist jeans are here but you need to try them on! they look very mumsy, but look great on promise

have just spotted these too look like they would hide a multitude of sins!

Just don't wear them with black boots!

Fimbo · 20/04/2009 10:15

Pointy

these. They look better in rl tbh. You can buy them cheaply in T K Maxx on the odd occasion. I got mine from there for £70, whilst House of Fraser were selling them for £180!

pointydog · 20/04/2009 10:17

oh ok. I've learned something new

KingCanuteIAm · 20/04/2009 10:23

Thanks for the links! I will march myself off to M&S! TBH I usually avoid M&S like the plauge, I can never tell if their clothes are meant for people my age, 20 years older or 40 years older
It is very disconcerting to buy a lovely new top only to see your Grandma and her friend sporting the same top in different colours the next week!

themoon66 · 20/04/2009 10:40

Fimbo.. those camper boots look like they'd play havoc with my delicate, narrow feet

Looks like I'm stuck with trainers then.

How odd though, that bootcut jeans should not be worn with boots [puzzled] Perhaps they should have been called not-for-boots-cut jeans.

Fimbo · 20/04/2009 12:11

Have a good hunt in T K Maxx, they have some god damn awful looking boots and shoes but in amongst all the trash, just sometimes there is a gem of a pair lurking in waiting. They are usually one-offs too.
