Shallow I know, but Sarah Brown has appalling dress sense and a terrible figure.

PROVINCIAL

You are SUCH a petty BOURGEOIS PONCE !!!

bet you are secretly sitting in a tracksuit quaffing cheap cider and stuffing your face with supermarket croissants

daftpunk · 02/04/2009 18:34
Grin
moondog · 02/04/2009 18:34

FGS Hab, we've already establishe it doesn't matter hugely in grand scheme of things. Neither does 95% of what discussed on MN Talk. There's a clue there in the word 'talk'.

Moondog, maybe she is looking her best.

She isn't very stylish or fashionable but she is well presented and smart. If she was wearing an egg stained tracksuit and wearing her hair in a scrunchie looking like a kappa-slapper I would say that you had a valid point.

And for what its worth The Telegraph is just a posher version of the Daily Mail.

Lizzylou · 02/04/2009 18:36

Anna

An appalling statement but not unexpected.

I'd far rather homely looking natural women as "First ladies" than a bunch of stick thin, over made up, over confident, uptight snobby clones (which is how I am envisaging Paris atm).

BonsoirAnna · 02/04/2009 18:36

I think the proposals for a renewed/enhanced role and extra resources for the IMF are particularly interesting, and I would in theory support that. What about you?

ickletickle · 02/04/2009 18:36

dont care if she's got a bleeding phd, op is shallow as a ... shallow thing.

Habbibu · 02/04/2009 18:37

I know, moondog - but it's the crap way women critique other women which mostly focuses on appearance that really gets my goat. Why do we/they do this? It just seems so utterly self-defeating.

And I know what you and dh do - that's why I just thought you'd think this kind of crap was just pointless and stupid.

Habbibu · 02/04/2009 18:39

Depends what the IMF do, I think, Anna - haven't read enough about it, but from what pw was saying, that detail isn't going to be thrashed out here. Joseph Stiglitz's book made me a bit more mistrustful of the IMF - but I do need to read a lot more on this. Any suggestions?

izyboy · 02/04/2009 18:40

Yeah it is a shallow posting

BonsoirAnna · 02/04/2009 18:42

No detail about anything will be thrashed out at this summit - detail is not what it's about.

The IMF's track record isn't all snowy white and parts of the world (Latin America especially) are very wary of it, but I think that is partly the lot of international organisations and that it is probably better to try to improve existing organisations and do better in future than to create new ones, unless everyone is unanimous about their incompetence.

moondog · 02/04/2009 18:44

I don't 'mostly focus on appearence'.
I couldn't care less what people look like.I spend a large part of my working life in a university, and some of the outfits there would move you to tears but God, they are astounding people.

It's just an idle thought.

I love love love Torygraph.
I love love love Spectator.
I despise dreary worthiness and wet hand wringing of Guardian.

"I couldn't care less what people look like" That's not what this thread says is it?

orangina · 02/04/2009 18:48

She should have worn magic pants.

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 02/04/2009 18:48

so you can dress how you want, if you are astounding enough?

moondog · 02/04/2009 18:48

Not on a day to day basis no (although will wince to self regularly). I think you've got some sort of duty to spiffy up a bit in a public event thoguh.

I think her figure is fine. She should however have purchased that suit in a size larger, it looks too snug.

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 02/04/2009 18:52

I agree with Moondog that it is a terrible outfit, but which one of us hasn't ever looked at an outfit and thought shit I shouldn't have worn that, luckily for us we don't have those mistakes published in the newspaper.

However I don't think she has a terrible figure I think she needs some clothes coaching, women aren't just ornaments but I don't understand why she doesn't want to look her best in front of the national press. You can look natural and good!

Pennies · 02/04/2009 18:53

I think the outfit is nice but the only problem is that the one she is wearing is a size to small. Otherwise it looks good on her.

She's a brave lady and I have a lot of respect for her whatever she's wearing.

Habbibu · 02/04/2009 18:53

I didn't think you did, md - and I've spent all my working life in universities - I know the dress codes well.

But somehow this just rattled and depressed me - god knows I have super judgy stupid/idle thoughts too, but it's the idea of discussing/picking apart - and women do it A Lot - that irritates me and makes me fed up.

I think I agree with that Anna - fix what we have in terms of multinational organisations, rather than create new ones, but I do wonder if there are fundamental problems of principle with the IMF that need considering. Must Read More.

Pennies · 02/04/2009 18:53

too

Sorry to the pedants.

MuffinBaker · 02/04/2009 18:55

What an awful OP.

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 02/04/2009 18:55

I've just had another look, in a bigger size it would still look awful on her, it just doesn't suite her shape and its so drab.

Pennies · 02/04/2009 18:56

Also, though MD - never thought I'd see a post like that from you. More cod's style I would have thought.

Is BonsiorAnna the new Xenia when it comes to the Real World?
