Could you go out for the day with no makeup on?

We are about to go out for lunch and some shopping and I have left my makeup bag in someone's car.

I could get it but dp said just go out with no makeup on. I am going to and think it could do me no good to go the whole weekend make up free. But it feels very odd.

I'm new to this, and I'm so pleased that most of you don't wear make up all the time. I've always wondered why everyone is so obsessed with it. If no-one ever wore it, it would make the ones who don't wear it seem the norm. It's got to be so much better for your skin. Saying that, I've recently started wearing it (slightly) when I go out somewhere special, just for the sheer fact I look so pale. In the summer I wore the tanning moisuriser, and I think I might go back to that now. I hate having to think how others see me, but I'm getting older and am increasingly looking more shit without some colour.

I will be bloody annoyed if I have inspired a Daily Mail article

God Liz jones looks rough without her slap

FAQtothefuture · 02/02/2009 22:01

I go out every day without make-up on

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 03/02/2009 13:36

wow, liz jones, she really should go a honey shade of dark blonde. I suppose being dark has been her look for half a century, but liz, if you're reading, your hairdresser should be shot.

Go dark honey blonde, it would suit you, honestly, and you'd look less tired with no make-up on.

fuzzywuzzy · 03/02/2009 13:39

I don't wear make up, just moisturise, and put on lip balm and thats it.

fuzzywuzzy · 03/02/2009 13:41

the passing of time has not been kind to Liz Jones, I swear she used to look rather lovely in the teeny tiny picture of the sunday times magazine column she used to write years ago.

TartanPussyCat · 03/02/2009 13:45

The last (and only!) time I ventured out with no makeup on I bumped into a colleague who asked if I was off sick

I am far too pale to go without

TrillianAstra · 03/02/2009 13:55

All those with/without makeup pictures are ridiculous. Everyone is going to look a bit rough after a long-haul flight, even if they put on full makeup in the loo on the plane before landing.

My makeup priorities run from:
mascara (any time I'm going further than the corner shop)
eyeliner (more days than not)
... lot of other things...
all the way to
foundation (my pot is probably so old I shouldn't use it, but I don't like to throw things away when they're not finished)

But I am lucky with my skin, if I was less so then I would probably wear more.

Flibbertyjibbet · 03/02/2009 14:08

Well I could... but I don't keep all my makeup in one place. I keep lippy in my bag but everything else in my bedroom. With an extra mascara in the toiletries bag I use for going away.
So if I left my makeup bag in a car I'd just come home and put some on from the supplies I keep at home.

I did once rush out to work intending to put slap on discreetly on the train. But my boss was getting that train that morning. On the platform he said I really didn't look well and should go home. As that was 25 years ago I really don't like to think how ILL I would look now if me and my ginger eyelashes ventured out without mascara on...

NO NO ...would deffo scare the horses

GreenMonkies · 06/02/2009 21:59

Every day of my life.

I wear eye makeup if I am "going out" etc (so about 3 times a year!!), but never wear slap on a daily basis, can't be arsed, and also don't feel I need to have a fake face painted on top of my own in order to go out in public.
