Could you go out for the day with no makeup on?

We are about to go out for lunch and some shopping and I have left my makeup bag in someone's car.

I could get it but dp said just go out with no makeup on. I am going to and think it could do me no good to go the whole weekend make up free. But it feels very odd.

I've had flu for 4 weeks (and counting). Had to go back to work this week and have worn no make up. I'm so sweaty and my skin is so bad that make up would just make me look worse IYSWIM.

I never usually leave the house without my slap on. I must be ill!

yes. i love makeup but quite often go without it as i don't want to ever be in the situation where i cannot leave the house cos of no slap.

i actually was lke that when i was about 16/17 and so make a conscious effort to have makeup free days.

even though i look much better with it on

lillypie · 01/02/2009 12:15

I only ever wear makeup when I have time to do it which is about once a week!

cyteen · 01/02/2009 12:17

i do it every day.

twinsetandpearls · 01/02/2009 12:17

Maybe peope will chuck pity money at me as I walk through Salisbury.

that happened to a friend once - she was waiting outside a shop for another mate and two separate strangers gave her 10p towards a hot cup of tea

twinsetandpearls · 01/02/2009 12:20

Thanks cyteen.

don't worry, she was going through a particularly scruffy teenage phase at the time.

StealthPo09IsHere · 01/02/2009 12:24

always
i look like a clown in make up so never wear it

twinsetandpearls · 01/02/2009 12:57

I have raided dd makeup box and have found an old mascara of mine and a lipstick.

I can now face the world.

I am not wearing any today as I know I will not be going out. But I seriously look like a warmed up corpse with none on,a nd people ask me' Are you okay?'

I would have to cancel/ or buy make up from local Londis if I was in your predicament twinset.

Lemontart · 01/02/2009 13:01

now if you asked me whether I could go for a whole day WITH make up on that would be a real challenge
Can?t stand the stuff and think the "natural look" is still unnatural

twinsetandpearls · 01/02/2009 13:01

I am only out with the family, I will keep pinching my cheeks or "sample" some makeup.

I had to do it yesterday. Went to collect the kids from my parents and they were all going for a walk to Waitrose. (It's a little ritual, kids love it, they get a mini trolley and nanny buys them comics, gingerbread men and kinder eggs )
I could have not gone, but I thought that would be ridiculous. So I went and pulled the collar of my coat up really high and kept my head down!!

mrsmaidamess · 01/02/2009 13:02

I envy you ladies who look Ok without it. I really seriously, look like shite when I have none on.

Lemontart · 01/02/2009 13:02

twinset - your Yr nine story is hilarious great tactic !

kittywise · 01/02/2009 13:02

I never wear it, I would feel quite freaky and unnatural if I did.

I find it an odd idea that woman think make up enhances their looks. They look much better without.

Dropdeadfred · 01/02/2009 13:03

often wear no makeup....i like the feeling of not having it on, but i love the look if it when it is on!

Twinset - don't use old mascara! you could get very sore eyes!

I definitely could as the last time I wore make up was on my wedding day 13 years ago because I had been "forced" to by a friend!

Yup: never wear it. I think I look ok without; and once you've tied your colours to the mast, you can't change your mind, IYSWIM.

I did buy some make-up to wear on my wedding day, but after trying one item, I realised it wasn't for me, so took it all back - barring, of course, the one eyeshadow.

Which reminds me: if anyone wants a Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in (I think) "slate", used once (and not even on my eyelids - the lady persuaded me to buy it as an eyebrow colour , so it's been nowhere near my eyes, if you're worried about hygiene), then let me know! I'll send it to you...

WilfSell · 01/02/2009 13:11

I look like shite without it too but I couldn't care less most of the time. Who's looking? Nobody will think less of you for looking a bit peaky.

I like make-up, and love having time and energy to do hair and stuff, but mostly I don't so don't let it worry me. I could not be the teenager I was who couldn't leave the house for fear some awful catastrophe would befall me if I didn't have a perfectly made up face.

I like to rely on my inner beauty these days and [vom].
