Could you go out for the day with no makeup on?

We are about to go out for lunch and some shopping and I have left my makeup bag in someone's car.

I could get it but dp said just go out with no makeup on. I am going to and think it could do me no good to go the whole weekend make up free. But it feels very odd.

I'm in the "yes, and I do it every day" camp. I have been thinking that it wouldn't hurt to put on a bit of powder, blush and gloss though. Now that I'm getting older.

I love make up but frequently go without as I can't be arsed when I'm just at home or going to the park with DS. I used to never bother for work, which scandalised some work colleages. Someone once 'suggested' to me that my career would progress better if I wore make-up in the office, and I said that I would do that when the men started doing it .
Oddly enough I wear it more often now but then I'm an Avon rep so kind of feel it is appropriate to wear it when I'm selling the stuff whereas it wasn't remotely relevant to my office job.

pavlovthecat · 01/02/2009 16:44

I usually go out without make-up on, so it would not seem odd. If it is lunch with friends, I will try to dress up a bit, but if for some reason I do not have time I am not bothered, as long as I have clean clothes and do not smell!

When I wear make-up is hit and miss anyway, sometimes I do, sometimes I dont.

People with dark brows and eyelashes are off to a flying start without makeup You already have definition and a 'face'.

Us blondies just look washed out without maleup and fair skin tones highlight dark circles etc. I wish I was dark in colouring. Lovely tanned skin in the summer...

bronze · 01/02/2009 17:08

I only ever wear it if I'm 'going out'. Thats so rare that I guess its less than 10 times a year now I wear makeup.

twinsetandpearls · 01/02/2009 17:19

I am also wearing a hat.

I don't have any and don't wear it, in fact I have only worn it twice in my life - the trial run for my wedding day, and my wedding dat.

bluebump · 01/02/2009 17:21

I couldn't unless I was very tanned and it made my skin look nice. I would be hard pushed not to put some mascara on even then.

MrsArchieTheInventor · 01/02/2009 17:38

I could (and frequently do) go without makeup if I'm just slobbing around the house but I couldn't go out in public with none on, even if I'm only nipping to the corner shop. I have quite acne scarred skin and I need at least a bit of foundation to even out my skin tone and blemish marks. I'm rapidly becoming the same about doing my hair too in that I need to straighten my hair before I go out too, otherwise it just falls flat and makes me look frumpy and 20 years older than I actually am.

nooka · 01/02/2009 17:46

I never wear make-up, so yes, no problem!

LaDiDaDi · 01/02/2009 17:55

I love make up but I could go out for the day without it if necessary though I wouldn'tbe too pleased about it. Ok to pop to the supermarket but a whole day would make me feel uneasy somehow, a bit like I wasn't myself .

I can and have done. Feels a bit funny if I am going out and about though. I tend to wear a dusting of a one step face base, and then some lip and cheek tint normally for everyday stuff.

I can't imagine going out at night without make up though.

PlumBumMum · 01/02/2009 18:04

I'm the same as bronze only wear it when I'm going out for a night out

treacletart · 01/02/2009 18:04

Only normally wear it if I'm out for the evening - or I've had a dreadful night with dd and look like death - then I wear a bit of touche eclat and a dab of creme blusher to make me look awake. I generally dye my eyelashes and the paler outer curve of my eyebrows too so I can get away without mascara or eyebrow pencil.

mammyofET · 01/02/2009 18:32

I always wear it if setting foot outside. Look better and feel better with it on.

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 02/02/2009 12:35

Kerry, that's a bit mad, that neighbour commenting that her own son had never seen her without makeup. PHEW! cos, he'd love her less if he could see her pores??!!

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 02/02/2009 12:37

Oh, right! I see, DH! even so, a bit too much trouble!

RumMum · 02/02/2009 12:46

NO.. I couldn't go out with out make up... I tend to look like I haven't got long left to live without it...

having said that I think it looks natural..

saramoon · 02/02/2009 16:45

Does tinted moisteriser count? If so, then yes i could go out without it but would rather wear it these days as it does make my skin look a bit better.

rolandbrowning · 02/02/2009 17:12

Yes, but I would definitely prefer not to.

belgo · 02/02/2009 17:23

I think Liz Jones DM saw this thread

Bumperslucious · 02/02/2009 20:27

Hmph! Maybe she should spend less time putting her make up on and more time coming up with some original writing.

lovelysongbirdie · 02/02/2009 20:42

yes, don't wear make up most days
