after reading a few threads on here its got me thinking,
if people can't stand to see other or children in certain clothes what do they think about non make up wearing women?

I wear make up every day. I have drawers full of the stuff. I love it. I love the way it improves how I look.

I might wear no make up on the odd Sunday if I'm not doing much. I have no issue wih people seeing me without it, I just prefer to wear it.

I would feel practically undressed at work without any on

Oh, and imo, every woman over the age of 17 benefits from makeup. Unless you are a supermodel and have flawless skin.

It takes me less then 5 mins every morning to apply. That's all.

OrmIrian · 01/08/2008 15:38

Hmm..... I am now at the age when I have some lines on my face. And I must admit I find it harder to like the look of make-up on my skin now. Takes me much longer to put it on these days and be happy with the results.

girlnextdoor · 01/08/2008 16:04

Poppycake- that's true, I'm afraid about salary and make up- they also say that women who wear slap at work are taken more seriously.

I know THE top woman director at KPMG- she wears make up !

taliac · 01/08/2008 16:15

I would love my legal affairs looked after by a kung fu panda. But thats just me..

lovelysongbird · 01/08/2008 17:16

how about virgin air crew they HAVE to wear red lipstick.

poppy shocked at kpmg, it shouldn't matter if you wear make up or not, unless you are trying to sell it, then i guess you probably would need to

although i think if you do wear make up its best to do for the natural look.
so its probably hard to tell if someones wearing makeup or not

mal, do you wear makeup all the time then?
don't you think it could seem like you have less confidence if you use make up?

Ok, how about this one.

I wear very little make-up, mascara for work, that's it.
My hair is down more often than not.

Yet despite this I still managed to pull (only one-sided I stress, I am married> a much younger, fantastic looking bloke from work!

When I do make an effort, it's noticeable, whereas when you get the ones who wear make-up all the time, you can't really tell when they go out in the evening.

Besides, when you do see them without make-up they looked really washed out.

I'd rather look as I am and then when I make an effort, people notice. I'd rather that than the other way round. And I must look ok to keep pulling these hunks!

motherinferior · 01/08/2008 17:37

Well, Malory, perhaps you should meet my glamorous editor, and indeed our recently departed glamorous features directory. Both slap-free and in designer frocks.

Me, I dye my hair and have my lashes tinted every three weeks and spend an absolutely ludicrous amount on bras at Rigby and Peller. I am a totally self-centred bint and I work in a glossy job. I just don't tend to wear much makeup.

Rhubarbstalkingarsehole · 01/08/2008 17:38

But Malory, wearing only mascara is pretty much no make-up.

I don't wear any now I'm at home.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 01/08/2008 17:40

Well I used to wear make up every day - foundation, lipstick eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara lipgloss.
then I was late for work one day and EVERYONE I met asked me if I was ok.

I was horrified that this was me - perfectly healthy and fine and they had no idea what I really looked like.

I stopped from that day, I wear mascara and lippy/lipgloss daily going out I apply full warpaint but not during the day.

MonkeyMargot · 01/08/2008 17:41

I am totally in agreement with Malory and DrNorthener. I wouldn't dream of going to work without make-up on - it's all part of the armour. It takes me 5 mins every morning, and is worth every second. I wouldn't ever wear make-up to the gym for example, but for facing the day ahead, it makes me feel more attractive and therefore more confident. And what can be bad about that?

wulfstan · 01/08/2008 17:44

bollocks to make up. If I have time, I stick some lipstick on in the car if I want to make an effort. I quite like the way I look without it though, and if I was going to incorporate another 15-minute event into my everyday life I'd choose something other than makeup.

girlnextdoor · 01/08/2008 17:47

zippi- I think I am wrinkle- free because I have used sunscreen SPF under my make up for the past 18 years.

It's never too late to start if you want to follow suit!

lumpsdumps · 01/08/2008 17:48

I wear it for work and I always go for the natural look, wear no foundation but do wear primer. I don't wear it when I'm off work though. I don't give a monkey's what people think of me when I don't wear it. My skin is good though and am constantly told I don't look 33 years old. I don't like the "slapped on" look that a lot of the girls in work wear and even though they are younger than me alot of them get told they look older.
