Last night DH & I enjoyed a rare night out. As we were waiting in the queue for our taxi home two attractive girls who couldn't have been more than 18 got out of the taxi & headed across the road to a local nightclub. As they emerged from the taxi I couldnt believe it.I am not exagerating when I say one of the girls was wearing a skirt that was so tight & short her bum cleavage was totally visible. I find this offensive & can't believe a girl would leave the house dressed like this. I believe its nobody else's business how a girl wishes to present herself but I can't understand why anyone would agree with this particular look.

Oh FFS you sound ridiculous pathetic and judgy. So only if you dress modestly do you "attract" good men. Wow lovely bit of victim blaming going on there. Girls who dress like sluts deserve bad men. Disgusting take. Hope you dont have daughters.

HeartOfALion · Yesterday 16:29

It’s just a display of youth . Enjoy it while they can I say ! It dosent last long .

UndeadLife · Yesterday 16:30

Honestly i don't understand how anyone can stand the feeling. If my underwear/trousers/jeans etc slip down to the point they only just rest above my bum crack i'm repeatedly pulling them up! Not just because i don't want my bum crack touching things or on show, but the physical sensation of it being even nearly uncovered goes right through me.

ShutupLwren · Yesterday 16:31

ah youth. I wore some hideous and questionable shit. I’m still surprised I never ended up getting a make over on snog, marry, avoid.

RunningJo · Yesterday 16:32

Isn’t this just a phase/trend that’s older than time?
I remember some of my outfits when I was that age, and I’m sure there were adults raising an eyebrow then too. But not sure me and my friends cared what ‘old’ (to us) people thought, & I doubt today’s generation do either.
And I can see why someone wouldn’t like what they’re wearing (although absolutely shit all to do with anyone else) but offensive? Really?.

Nowadays I just think how cold they must be, and how I also used to be able to wear heels all night too 🤣

Pedallleur · Yesterday 16:35

I just think it's bloody cold tonight you must be freezing but that's what people have said for years.

You can be extremely sexy without being trashy.Im happy my son brought home the former. If he brought home a girl with her boobs & bum out I would question his taste but knowing him this would be an absolute no.

Two things can be simultaneously true.

You can believe that every woman and girl has the right to dress and present how they want.

But you can also dislike the increasing trend for women and girls to show more and more of their body.

And it is increasing. Celebrities who go out in sheer dresses and no underwear doesn’t even raise an eyebrow any more.

We have societal etiquette that dictates what’s “decent” - hence why there are laws about indecent exposure. If you go out naked you can be charged. So if we’re not keeping the areas covered that traditionally have been viewed as sexual - genitals, bums, and (women’s) breasts, where does indecent exposure begin? Only stark bollock naked? Or can I go out with a modesty patch over my genitals but my breasts and arse out on display?

In one sense I love that women are arguing for the rights of other women to wear whatever the hell they want. But in another I feel sad about the increasing pornification of women, and dressing for the male gaze. And for every woman that dresses like this “for themselves”, it’s not. You dress like that “for yourself” because that’s what society has told you a sexy woman looks like. We all absorb those messages on an unconscious level and it’s why how the choices we all make affect women collectively.

This isn’t happening to our young men, just our young women. It’s not hard to see why.

Mind bleach moment.

sixfootoffshore · Yesterday 16:47

It is very different to years ago.

I work at an entertainment venue, I was working the D Block Europe event earlier this week.

I would say 70 percent of women were wearing what were indecent length skirts .skirts where when they walked you could see underwear.

There were two girls aged around 17 wearing frilly knickers and crop tops. As they walked up the escalators I could see the lips of their vaginas.

Women wearing g strings in sheer trousers full on butt cheeks on show

women with nipples popping out of tops .

A generation of women convinced to dress like hookers .

mind blowing

My first thought is always ‘how are they not freezing?’

Swissmeringue · Yesterday 16:50

How is this shocking? There's absolutely nothing new here. I'm 40 and when I was 18 I'm pretty sure my bum cheeks were visible on many an occasion too. I've seen pictures of my mum, who was born in checks notes 1955, wearing bum skimming skirts. Do some people just forget their own youth ever happened and find some pearls to clutch in the general direction of young people after a certain age?

PeasOff · Yesterday 16:51

Idayatatime · Yesterday 16:27

Totally understandable. I wore short skirts etc but within reason. My father would have chased me along the high street before he would tolerate me going out with my bum & boobs on show. I'm grateful I only attracted good men & as a result & I ended up with a good one.

This is such a nonsensical argument and blatant victim blaming. Women who dress conservatively attract arseholes too.

A man's behaviour has absolutely nothing to do with how much skin a woman shows. Decent men don't become decent because a woman wears a longer skirt, and predators don't suddenly disappear because she's dressed modestly either 🤦🏼‍♀️

As for your son, I'd be more concerned about raising a son who judges women by what they wear rather than their character. A woman's clothing doesn't define her as a person.

CherryViper · Yesterday 16:51

It is non of your business.

Stormyrose · Yesterday 16:53

I can’t believe the things your writing op. The misogyny is dripping from every post. Trashy? You’d question your son’s judgement? You only attracted good men as you dressed modestly?

what in earth is wrong with you writing these horrible things.

Edited

Yes it is always my thought are they not cold !

StarlightLady · Yesterday 16:53

It’s nice of the OP to be concerned about other womens’ bottoms getting cold but I’m sure it was warm inside the club.

Flannelfeet · Yesterday 16:54

How is it offensive to you? Did she blow out a raw fart in front of you with the mini skirt on?. The only things I think when I see a young girl dressed with short skirts/tops is jeezo she must be fucking baltic, bet she has the cold next week. 🤣

5128gap · Yesterday 16:54

OP, there are some things in this life that you will see and get a little shock from. You may then think "Oh my goodness how awful".
However, when this concerns the appearance or clothing choices of another woman, the wise woman keeps these thoughts to herself. Because starting public discussions on the subject is considered very rude and inappropriate.

fatphalange · Yesterday 16:54

I’d be asking your DH who he thinks he is, shaking his head in disapproval at young women minding their own business. Fucking awful!

XenaSharples · Yesterday 16:54

It's not for me to tell anyone how to dress, but I can't understand why anyone would want to dress like this.

OneCalmEagle · Yesterday 16:54

I wasnt going to comment on this but just a reminder that exiting taxis is universally hazardous on a night out. Please get over it, I am sure you didnt see any holes or orifice! You are just worried your DH could see. And she probably had a better arse than yours. Why I hate these comments, is because sooner ir later someone will pipe up 'personal safety'. Or they are 'asking for it'. And other sickening narratives. In fact i I find this misogynistic. Yes women can be misogynistic too. So can I sometimes, but I'm learning

Goodwitchglenda · Yesterday 16:54

I used to go out in this little silky negligee when I was about the same age. Left very little to the imagination and was basically underwear. Looking back, I should have worn it every day while I still could. What’s that Nora Ephron quote? “Oh, how I regret not having worn a bikini for the entire year I was twenty-six. If anyone young is reading this, go, right this minute, put on a bikini, and don't take it off until you're thirty-four.”

You sound bitter!

Goodwitchglenda · Yesterday 16:55

What were you wearing, out of interest, OP?
