Last night DH & I enjoyed a rare night out. As we were waiting in the queue for our taxi home two attractive girls who couldn't have been more than 18 got out of the taxi & headed across the road to a local nightclub. As they emerged from the taxi I couldnt believe it.I am not exagerating when I say one of the girls was wearing a skirt that was so tight & short her bum cleavage was totally visible. I find this offensive & can't believe a girl would leave the house dressed like this. I believe its nobody else's business how a girl wishes to present herself but I can't understand why anyone would agree with this particular look.

Wow the smug posts from mums
of sons who would never take up with women who were ‘trashy’, dressed as ‘whores’ or dressed as ‘prostitutes’…….amazing to see insightless women boasting of the misogyjy
theyve passed on to their sons.

Not to mention congratulating yourself because your son brought home someone ‘extremely sexy’ 🤮

I said looking like. There is a difference.

What is the difference? Looks like a whore is so much better is it?

Rightly or wrongly I would hope parents would encourage their daughters to have more self respect than to display their bums in a nightclub. Why is that so wrong

They aren’t “displaying “them, back off from the daily mail use of language to shame women,

grindergirl · Yesterday 18:59

Nothing much shocks me so I wouldn't raise an eyebrow about teenagers going out flashing their arses. What is depressing is the follow-the-herd conformity of it. For teens, it's now as if individuality (both in dress and other aspects) is to be feared rather than celebrated.
I have a picture of snotty-nosed 11 year old boys on the bus, craning their necks to get a better view. If that's the intention, crack on!

Error404FucksNotFound · Yesterday 18:59

What makes you think they lack self respect?

You have given moral value to clothes. Maybe they simply dont share that view and their self respect doesnt come from what clothes they choose to wear in a nightclub

I was in The Range and a young couple of girls maybe 14 ish were walking in in front of me and one had a pair of cut off jeans that I can't even call shorts the nearest thing to them would be a Brazilian cut Bikini or swim suit. I'm all for wear what you want but she looked bloody awful and it was not suitable attire for a Sat afternoon shopping.

I think it's an ugly, stupid fashion (my inner eight year old always wants to point and laugh and scream, "I can see your bum!") but it's a big jump from that to the frankly disgusting and misogynistic moralising we're getting. A young woman embraces a hideous fashion for a few days of her life and suddenly she's entirely to blame for the world's lack of equality, a lesser human, lacking in self respect, looks like a <<insert sexist slur>>, cannot possibly be intelligent or deep or pleasant and all the rest of it. I really hate seeing bare arses out on city streets too but it's not the moral collapse of everything.

With attitudes like that remaining entrenched, I'm not surprised other ugly and stupid fashions have also stayed with us.

They simply are displaying their bums & boobs. What else are they doing apart from attracting sexual attention. Porn stars earn a living from showing off their naked bodies. Young girls do this nowadays for nothing

My thoughts remain.
Designers who encourage young women to flaunt their genitals including their bum & boobs should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

Bottoms and boobs are not genitals though.

Men can walk around topless in the summer but women can’t. It’s double standards.

InLawTwats · Yesterday 19:13

Idayatatime · Yesterday 18:27

So why is it socially acceptable for women to display they bums in public

Do you want the evolutionary psychology response?

When we walked on all 4s we’d have been shagged from behind like other 4 legged animals. When we evolved to stand women developed breasts, seemingly to provide a buttock-esque view from the front as well.

I do hope you don’t wear lipstick: that’s designed to make men think about your “other lips”.

How come male gymnasts wear long shorts or trousers while female gymnasts have to wear high cut leotards? See also swimmers and athletes.

Passingthroughagain · Yesterday 19:15

Wow, so any girl who wears a short skirt or shows off her cleavage is a whore, not decent, won't bag a nice man.

How appallingly judgemental, OP. I'd say it's better to walk around showing off your arse than walk around with a stick up it.

P.S> Your DH might've shaken his head but I'd bet a million quid he had a sneaky gawp.

SquirrelGG · Yesterday 19:15

It was hot pants in my day.
Surely you've seen a young woman in very revealing clothing before? This is not a new thing.

Hot pants were in when I was a teen. I don't recall anyone having their bum on show.

So many "aren't we cool" types on here. Of course people can wear what they like, but honestly there needs to be some sort of boundary. What is so wonderful about showing everything to all and sundry? Fortunately I don't go out much at night so have missed this charming fashion and even the local school girls don't have skirts quite as short as to show their knickers/bums.

They are just there, like when I wear a sleeveless top I’m not displaying my arms,I’m not exhibiting them, they are simoly visible

and as much as it’s not a fashion I like, I find the use of the misogynistic slurs you’re using to describe young woman, utterly abhorrent and shameful,

your parents may have raised you to hide your body, they should have spent some more time on your thoughts and how to treat others,

ThatCyanCat · Yesterday 19:18

I'm splitting my sides at the idea that dressing conservatively means you must attract only wonderful men. We have dozens of threads every day from women whose partners are treating them like dirt. Reckon they all wear arse-out fashions?

ladychatterleyscook · Yesterday 19:22

Idayatatime · Yesterday 14:45

Ok,I was shocked and I'm perfectly enitled to feel like this. Posters share far worse Absolutely nothing wrong with a short skirt but surely there has to be a limit to what girls show on a night out or is nothing off limits nowadays.

Edited

I don't like it either (not that it helps) but I have seen girls walking down the high street wearing spaghetti string tops that are skin tight (no bra) and tights/leggings that are so close fitting that the outline of their labia can be seen.
I really don't know why these pretty young girls want to dress like extras in a porn movie.
Maybe I'm just a BOF (boring old fart) ?

Lordofmyflies · Yesterday 19:25

Its a phase...it will pass and probably in 20 years they'll be thinking 'why did I ever wear that!' But yes, I would probably double take at anyone walking around the town with their ass cheeks showing. I'd rather it was a girls' than a blokes hairy cheeks tba, but it wouldn't surprise me because thats what some youth do.

Of course he did simply because its what's designed to attract. Im all for girls dressing sexily but there should be limits in what is sexy and what is utterly disgusting.

You're free to think it's utterly disgusting and to say so.

Utterly disgusting? So much hyperbole!

Fine, the fashion isn't to your taste, but is it really necessary to denigrate these young women the way you are? You sound really horrible and I'm sure you're not!

I'm honestly not horrible. I was simply shocked at seeing a lovely looking young girl walking into a night club with her bum cheeks on show. Anyone who thinks this is acceptable needs to take a long hard look at where their limits are when it comes to dress sense.
