Where to get good black leggings

Starting off by saying no, I don’t care if you don’t like leggings. Just move along…. 😂

Anyway, looking for some good black leggings to wear with a baggy t-shirt etc. have been researching and reading articles, however all Vogue etc seems to review are leggings around the £100 mark 🙄. Looking for some good ones that are more “normal” high street. Style

I’ve not tried the cheaper Amazon ones mentioned but love CRZ yoga ones also available on Amazon but they are around £30-40 a pair

I was led astray and bought the Amazon leggings based on this thread. They’re not far from the thinnest leggings I’ve bought, I can’t see myself wearing them much 🤣

That’s not the Sinophant ones myself and others listed though is it? Those ones aren’t see through at all.

somanychristmaslights · 29/09/2026 21:12

just tried them on. They’re “fine” for under £7, but not really getting what all the hype is about? They don’t pass the squat test, you could see the white label through them. So I’ll keep them as they’re fine for round the house, but want something a bit thicker.

F&f 25% off at mo

Another vote for CRZ Yoga on Amazon, they’re thick but not too thick, comfortable, soft, stretchy and wash well. Really good for the price.

CloudBuster66 · 29/09/2026 23:08

Snag leggings. Love them. They're fantastic quality, great stretch, thick high waist and best of all they have side pockets on the thighs for your phone etc. About £30.

Nothungrycat · 30/09/2026 07:18

I wear the Uniqlo ones https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E483546-000/00?colorDisplayCode=08&sizeDisplayCode=003 I mainly wear them to the gym, but they would be absolutely fine to wear for other purposes. They've retained their colour after many washes, don't go saggy and have pockets!

Nara2k · 30/09/2026 07:43

Any leggings I've ever had that I'd describe as 'buttery soft' has also been a 'fluff magnet' and attracts every bit of lint & dust going. Can you please reassure that these leggings aren't like that??

I see those Amazon ones mentioned all the time on here and have to say I completely disagree. They're thin and flimsy and not squat proof. You might be okay with lounging in them but that's it. The ones I have are falling apart.

I just don't know what everyone sees in them? Perhaps I just got a bad pair. They really are awful. Unless you're all bots looking out for a Mumsnet legging post.. but can't be that!

I’m definitely not a bot 😂. I think you must have got a dodgy pair because although the “buttery soft” rubbish makes me gag, they really are very good leggings. I’ve got fat thighs and they haven’t rubbed through at all, they don’t go baggy or saggy, and they stay black in spite of being washed over and over.

MilitantFaucet · 30/09/2026 08:00

Sweaty Betty in their sale or Vinted

I bought these as well; they were awful!

The thinnest, baggiest, cheapest leggings I could imagine! They went back 10 minutes after arriving!

DoggieNamechange · 30/09/2026 09:13

Yeah I don't get the hype about the Amazon leggings either. They're "fine" but quite thin and as I have chunky thighs pretty unflattering, unlike thicker leggings which can streamline you a bit. I wear them around the house if I'm ill or slightly depressed.

Also the term "buttery soft" makes me feel nauseous. I love butter but do not associate it with fabric.

CherryogDog · 30/09/2026 10:06

I recommend the Iuga leggings on Amazon. Definitely squat proof.
I ride in mine, as well as dog walk/exercise, I've had one pair for about 4 years and they've got minor bobbling in the inner thigh (my thighs are huge).
I've tried some of the other brands but not taken to them.

I agree! I just get the black ‘squat proof’ Snag leggings and they have pockets which is surprisingly helpful for phone / keys etc.Not see through at all.

I also like the Sweaty Betty leggings, especially if you can get them in the sale.

Mammatofour · 30/09/2026 12:46

I have M and S leggings that are still going strong after 10 years. I also have the Amazon ones, but they are far too long for me and i have to roll the bottoms up. The M and S ones come in different lengths. I thoroughly recommend them.

ProfessorofDarkArts · 30/09/2026 12:48

I'm wearing the Amazon ones today so I just checked my bum in the mirror and can confirm they're not see-through on me. They're slightly long but I am a short arse. My best pair are 'sports' type leggings with a phone pocket from TK Maxx, I've worn and worn them and they still look as good as new.

Twins3007 · 30/09/2026 13:08

if wearing with boots in the winter i always put a pair of black tights underneath not only keeps you warm but stops them looking see through

CoffeeBeansGalore · 30/09/2026 13:22

George at Asda. £10 for 2 pack. 96% cotton. But size up. No knee bag. Wash well & comfortable.

Can anyone recommend mainly cotton, thicker leggings (pocket would be a bonus!). I can't handle man made fabric unless the content is minimal!

BIossomtoes · 30/09/2026 18:19

My best leggings are Rohan merino. I buy a pair every winter.

Instinct1 · 30/09/2026 20:33

Soft and high wasted.
Not see through or baggy knee’ed.

I have these too. Really good.

I keep seeing adverts for ‘not basics’ and am considering them
