Where to get good black leggings

Starting off by saying no, I don’t care if you don’t like leggings. Just move along…. 😂

Anyway, looking for some good black leggings to wear with a baggy t-shirt etc. have been researching and reading articles, however all Vogue etc seems to review are leggings around the £100 mark 🙄. Looking for some good ones that are more “normal” high street. Style

My faves are sweaty Betty , can usually get around the £40 mark , they’re always in sale , I’ve had mine for years and they wash and wear well.

These leggings from Amazon that a lot
of people were singing the praises of on a thread a year or so ago. Someone described them as buttery soft (I see the listing does too) and it’s so true! I wear leggings all the time and have had about 4 pairs of these on the go for the last year. Wash so well and remain ‘buttery soft’. So comfortable. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Tala SkinLuxe leggings are the best I’ve ever had and I’ve tried lots of brands.

I always recommend Lovall on these threads. Not dirt cheap but not silly money, not see through, wash well, and come in lots of lengths and colours. I find I have to size down and am by no means small of hip!

Calzedonia cotton leggings from asos are fab. I wash them on delicate though, as I don’t want them to pill or go see through. Around £20 I think

I have loads of black leggings from loads of different places,

My favourites are declathlon (cheap) and Boden (pricey), the Decathlon ones are so comfortable.

But Boden last forever, don’t bag or sag and retain their colour.

I see those Amazon ones mentioned all the time on here and have to say I completely disagree. They're thin and flimsy and not squat proof. You might be okay with lounging in them but that's it. The ones I have are falling apart.

I just don't know what everyone sees in them? Perhaps I just got a bad pair. They really are awful. Unless you're all bots looking out for a Mumsnet legging post.. but can't be that!

TheFormidableMrsC · 27/09/2026 22:23

Lovall are fabulous and the only leggings I buy.

abbey44 · 27/09/2026 22:26

Coincidentally, I ordered those Amazon ones a few days ago and I’m really pleased with them. I like that they’re high waisted, they aren’t at all see-through, the fabric feels lovely and they have plenty of give in them. And under a tenner….what’s not to like about a that?! I’m going to order some more while they’re on offer.

Fatface every time!

The sinophant ones on Amazon are hands down the best leggings I’ve ever owned

RaininSummer · 27/09/2026 22:49

It is hard to get cotton ones but I do like mint velvet ones. Polyester always feels a bit sweaty.

QuackingMum · 28/09/2026 06:39

@somanychristmaslights h&m sports ribbed leggings are great, without the crotch pattern, you need the ones with ribbed all the way. They are so tight, never get saggy, and are comfortable. I have a belly myself and it holds me in. Bought them after seeing them recommended here!

WinchSparkle80 · 28/09/2026 06:44

Great post @somanychristmaslights as was about to ask similar, can anyone recommend decent non see thru, comfy leggings with a phone pocket?

i came to recommend those ones too, hope you like them!

CoffeeAndACroissant · 28/09/2026 09:09

Another one for the Amazon leggings.

Defo not a bot here. I think Bezos is a chump.

But I've had pairs of those leggings literally for years and they hold up well.

sohard · 28/09/2026 09:30

The buttery soft sinophant ones from Amazon are the best ones I’ve ever had. They were the only things I could have next to my skin after surgery recently. All my other clothes felt scratchy.

That’s the ones I linked to upthread. Love them.

Pandasarethebest · 29/09/2026 06:46

F&F high waisted. Good quality and last ages.

somanychristmaslights · 29/09/2026 19:27

Ordered the Amazon ones, they arrived today in a vacuum sealed bag 😂. There’s so branding etc on them, so assume they’re the right ones? I will report back on how they fit, they look quite small so hopefully stretchy! 😬

Mosaic80 · 29/09/2026 19:34

The Amazon ones are super soft and comfy but quite thin (not see through just thin fabric). Mint velvet ones are lovely for thicker ones but with stretch.

Wrestling67 · 29/09/2026 19:36

I was led astray and bought the Amazon leggings based on this thread. They’re not far from the thinnest leggings I’ve bought, I can’t see myself wearing them much 🤣
