Great article @bluegreygreen . I think this latest dress is the one I like the least.

Maireas · 22/10/2026 15:16

Wow! The one from the South African state banquet is gorgeous 🤩!
I also love the sparkly one at the German event.

I'm less keen on that grey crushed looking one, I know it's intentional, but still.

She doesn't always wear a necklace despite so many to choose from!
I think the capes were striking at the start but no longer .
What's on the November agenda?

IceLollly · 22/10/2026 15:24

I’m guessing that she wants to wear different colours each time, I like the South Korean white dress a lot.

Maireas · 22/10/2026 15:26

I think someone pointed out the significance of the colours, it may be to do with the flag, or some cultural link.

The American banquet in 2019 - a white dress that looked like it was made out of torn off bits of loo roll!! But I still prefer it to the yellow dress

eggandonion · 22/10/2026 15:28

Im sure they are all beautiful hung up in the evening dress wardrobe. Fashion and textiles student could learn a lot from the fabrics and cuts etc.

Pallisers · 22/10/2026 15:47

The yellow dress is my least favourite too.

I much prefer her hair up for those events- gives far more scope to the jewels imo.

RomainsCalmish · 23/10/2026 01:03

Thank you @bluegreygreenfor the link.

My vote goes to the South Korean outfit because of the Strathmore Rose tiara but I do like the South African gown better.

The Royal Jewels exhibition looks amazing and I will try to go. If it’s even half as good as the QEII one it’ll be worth it.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 23/10/2026 03:22

There's a colour specialist on Instagram who uses Photoshop/AI to change the colour of celebs' outfits to suit their "season" and she's done Kate a few times.

That looks interesting @KillingMeDeftly
I always think Kate is more an autumn than a summer.

The leopard print on the yellow is interesting - I’ve seen suggestions that it may refer to the endangered Asian leopard in Oman.

Catherine is also (slightly) limited in style of evening wear since her chemotherapy - she is presumably avoiding styles that will show any scars.

She has not worn any dress that will expose the right upper side of her chest since she returned from her illness.

That’s something I hadn’t thought of, I have also noticed she covers up her arms (elbow upwards) a lot more now

Maireas · 23/10/2026 10:44

Interesting about the colours, Deftly.

Sofia is very tall, like her dad, and they both carry it well. . I like her blue dress. All the family are looking smart, and Felipe sharp as ever.

I like Sofia's outfit as well. I doubt either girl will wear 10cm heels in the future, but I think Sofia's wearing a kitten ones is a sign of confidence with her body and height. Leonor and Sofia are very young and still finding their own style for royal occassions.

One thing I've noticed though is that Leonor seems to like jewellery more than Letizia. She likes wearing small rings, bracelets and necklaces - not expensive ones but there is a hope she'll use the royal jewellery like her grandmother Sofia.

Yes, I've noticed that Letizia has a lovely collection of earrings, but, unless it's a state occasion, doesn't tend to wear any other jewellery.

There is much more in Letizia's coffers than earrings. The diamond and ruby earrings she wore for Willem's birthday a few years ago are suspected to be a parure with necklace and ring. I think she's only worn them twice.

Same as with the fabulous diamond and sapphire earrings she wore in their last visit to the UK. We saw the earrings then, and never saw them again.

Yes, I know there's more, however, my point is that for daywear she usually just wears earrings.
She has some fabulous pieces and we've often commented on her tiaras.

The Spanish Royals really are an elegant bunch when they are out together!

Here's CP Ingrid Alexandra last night at the Parliamentary Gala Dinner - it's not a great photo but her tiara is amethyst - she looks lovely despite the one glove.

Ingrid looks nice. That was a thing of Margarethe's, wasn't it? One glove.

Because of the lighting, I thought for a moment that Ingrid was wearing a sheer dress! Queen Sonja is a trooper, isn't she?

That reminds me, I recently watched the mini-series about her and Harold and it was good, even if Prime only have the English-dubbed version. A sort of Norwegian version of The Crown! What a lot they had to go through in order to be together.

I would have thought that if you were going to wear just the one glove, it should go on your hand shaking hand.

Choux · 23/10/2026 13:00

I think etiquette is that it’s polite to shake hands with a gloveless hand. You need to ‘press the flesh’ as it were!
