I quite like Kate’s dress although sorry not to see some stonking jewels and a new tiara. The Ellie Saab dress in a different colour also has Charlene’s name written on it.

But the beautiful detail on the Sultan’s outfit - just wow!

The yellow looks sickly (perhaps better in real life), I agree with @IcedPurple that her hair works better with a tiara if it's an updo and I think her eye make-up & brows are too heavy. Apart from that...

Has Kate ever worn silver? I think it would really suit her

The same jewellery on repeat really is so boring. I get they probably have their personal favourites, but surely part of the job description is wearing the jewellery. Otherwise why have it?

The yellow really doesnt suit Kate. Red would have been stunning. I like the shape and flow of the dress but the colour has no impact at all.

I havent liked any of Kates outfits today and Im so disappointed!

I'm also not a fan of the cape effect. I really don't like the corded effect at the neckline of the dress.

If I ruled the world it would be the law that all the jewellery must be worn - not the same stuff over and over again. Or at the very least put it on display for th public.

Why do they hide the bloody jewels?!

I wonder if they think they being pc by not flaunting it? It’s the only excuse I can think of.
In fact they’re secreting it away and for me that’s worse

I like Catherine’s dress. There are quite a few photos on the State Banquet thread and the yellow looks different in a lot of them so it’s hard to say about the colour precisely, but overall I think it works. She looks very elegant and poised in any case

If they aren't going to wear the bloody things, I wish they would make like the Danes and have a high security display of the big pieces. Anyone up for a Copenhagen trip...?

Kate’s clearly found her banquet look and is sticking to it.

I think her dress is spoiled by the orders. Ugly things.

I fell of these threads over the summer but thought a state visit warranted a return.

I don’t think that shade of yellow is quite Kate’s colour either (she is the same colouring as me and I don’t suit it) and I am also a bit tired of the cape style but she does look very elegant. It might look better in natural light, didn’t she wear a brighter deep lemon yellow one day at Royal Ascot and that looked good?

I do think The Queen suits the deep blue but agree the sashes and orders make it tricky to style the women.

The orders are ugly, but I do with Camilla and Catherine would either wear them properly and not wear them at all.

Birgitte always looks good at these events.

She wore a very bright shade of yellow at Wimbledon a few years ago which I thought looked good.

Maybe it's the lighting, but this shade of yellow is washing her out. I don't think her hair and make up are helping much either.

She wore another yellow dress to Wimbledon a few years ago, it's one of my favourites.

That's a 'repeat' of the dress she wore at Wimbledon a few years previously.

I think those bright yellow day dresses look great but this evenings seemed more muted. It just didnt fit with the occasion in my opinion.

She never looks bad but I'm not sure that's the most flattering shade on Kate. And all her recent gowns have started to blend into each other - capes or long billowy sleeves..

Those cape sleeves on evening dresses have become ubiquitous; I have never been a fan. It's definitely time for something different.

The early version of the sleeves were great. But think we have seen enough .
At least Princess Anne looked cosy.

Cosy! Was that a chilly banquet? Anne wore the Greek Meander tiara and a beautiful pearl and diamond necklace. Birgitte wore more of the stunning Gloucester jewellery, including a double looped necklace. Her dress had a coat vibe, but she always looks stylish. I didn't see Sophie.
