My theory is that brands pay to be included in the advent calendars and all the stock is sent to the advent creators for free, so the brands either want to launch new items or offload unsold stock. Hence unpopular colours, older stock, and expensive items that need publicity and Charlotte Tilbury in day 25!

Yes many of the lip products have been brown this year either this is terribly fashionable and im an old fogey unaware of this, or the brown lippies are hard to shift?

That is something SpaceNK manage to do (and Cult Beauty to some extent).

For the last two years they've had the newly released Medik8 serum and if I wasn't impatient and already bought it that would probably have pushed me to get SpaceNK this year.

I'm not sure getting a calendar for one serum is the best idea though so maybe it's a good job I already bought it.

I assume hard to shift. CB gave us Hourglass in Roar which I'm sure was the same one they put in SNK last year. A rust brown colour so I would guess not a popular one.

Some people can pull off a brown lip but I'm not one of them.

According to social media the concealer lip look harking back to the early 2000s is the current thing. Also not one for me. Seems to look quite good if you're about about 19 - for the rest of us it's giving crypt keeper. 😂

I guess the brands involved are pitching their best promotional shot, whether that’s paying to be in a certain day, providing products at a massive discount (like the £5 price tag one!) etc .

That might be their newest product or it might be one they think will appeal most widely (eg CT Magic Cream) as an introduction to their brand. Similarly with things like the Sali Hughes edit.

I know Lumene is single brand, so the economics are different, but I have repeat purchased the vit C serum and the night moisturiser purely because I tried them here, and that must be the goal.

I actually don’t own any eyelash curlers so that would have been a better drawer for me than just another mascara, of which I own many.

Just checked the John Lewis fragrance advent and the message has changed to release in 25th September with the option to sign up for notification so there may be a second release after all

I think terribly fashionable - miss Boux appears to love a nude and I think they look fantastic on the right person (usually people who overline their lips).

Unfortunately.they are a dud for me asI dont overline and they don't flatter my skin tone. I'm team pink!

Tbf, I only learnt that briwn doesn't suit me by using an advent calendar product and I'm using it up by mixing it in with my pinks, so making the best of it!

I’m in the minority then as I think brown is in! I just got the Violette FR Bisou Balm in Chocolat (a new release) and it’s divine, very wearable, I think browns and dark plummy berry colours will be big come Christmas…

I have it in the peachy shade. Its lovely and will last me forever, especially as I have at least 10 blushes 🤩🤣
I avoid pinks as rosy enough 🤣

@OvaHere it was Sahara that was in snk last year. That was just a bit too bold for me. Roar doesn't look as bold. But I might just look like an idiot in it 🤣

I think brown is in right now, it's all the 90s revival. But it's starting to mellow a little, with softer browns. I've decided to wear the lip products (that I'm keeping) and the merit blush from Sephora now as I feel they're in and very autumnal. I do prefer mauves and dusty pinks though.

By the time other bits were revealed id lost interest as they seemed to show the best item then it went downhill after that. Imo.
Again I dont want to spoil it for other.
For context i bought at least 12 last year 😅
Many reduced tbf and an absolute tonne of edits,gwps, etc so I need a rocket you know where, to sort my stash out and sell/gift/give away what I dont want/ wont use.
I do think the drip feeding spoils it when you want to look and decide which is best for you overall, and a lot are not cheap so do need some thought.

Its also the lack of new things for me, as so many repeats, but in a way its good as I can sort my stuff and not have a tonne more coming in. Yet! 🤣

I do think its hard to keep regular buyers of stuff happy but there are a lot of repeats. I do think some have got a touch lazy and the attention to detail is important, to me anyway.
Sending products with a £5 price label is unbelievable. I wouldnt do that, let alone liberty.

I would love a company that would ask you some questions, look at your colouring and then make you your own personalised calendar with scents you would wear, make up that suits you and skincare that meets your skins' needs.

Even if you took mine, you should still make a fuss with Harrods!

I'm really pissed off too with John Lewis too!
Never received any emails about the release of their FAC, so goes on their website first thing to order, & then finds out here they realised it on 1st September!

John Lewis FAC is now showing available from 25 September on their website, I still think it was made available on the 1st in error and due to this they are not doing an early release for JL Rewards
