The coupons are for new TIlTok users or new TikTok shop users so its not a discount on Glossybox but a generic code that some people randomly get. People getting it for Β£65 are getting a huge bargain. From memory there are a few boxes worth that as standalones and I think its the best by far of the Β£100ish calendars of Look Fantastic, Next, M&S etc

AI is telling me JL FAC is available for pre order for members tomorrow so im really hoping that's right and the shop assistant had just got it wrong. The Selfridges box sounds amazing.

I’m a new user but didn’t get anything and the flash sale seems to have disappeared today! TBF I’ve already bought LF ( I actually prefer the LF one to GB, but would have bought GB at the discounted price).

Itsnouse · 20/09/2026 10:35

Donsyb · 20/09/2026 09:31

That’s probably because some of them are very expensive, and if people don’t want half the products it’s not worth it unless they sell some of them. It’s different if you’re paying say, less than Β£100, for a bunch of stuff you might not be bothered by, but when you’re talking Β£300+, the cost is a big factor for many. And rather than waste products you don’t want, it throws them away, it’s better to sell them (for the seller and the environment).

It is better to sell them than throw them away I agree, but (and it’s a big but) when I’ve looked at the prices of advent calendar items on Vinted the seller is looking to make a profit not just recoup their costs. I’ve seen the Harrods fragrance calendar with some of the premium items removed ( Delina or Imortals) up for sale for more than the calendar cost in the first place. I’m not interested in buying things so that someone else can get their calendar for free.

IlovePond · 20/09/2026 10:36

@itbeginsnow In an ideal world, companies - e.g. Liberty, (whose behaviour this year in putting together a calendar with expired/short-dated products, then sending out replacements with Β£5 stickers on - has been appalling), would either replace the item or give you a partial refund.

However, if you only complained recently about a product from a 2025 calendar then, sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised if some companies didn’t offer anything. Having said that, I think someone on here went straight to the manufacturer in a similar situation recently and they gave her a new product.

Have you approached the company concerned?

@Itsnouse - leaving aside the β€˜should you/shouldn’t you’ aspect of selling stuff from a/cs for profit, I never understand how people manage it!

I have tried selling the odd thing I won’t ever use from a/cs on eBay - e.g. niche perfume or retinol products and no one is ever interested, despite me having good feedback and my prices being low. My stuff either sits there for months until I give up and give it away or I end up selling a sealed brand new item with a RRP of Β£50 for Β£3-4!

The idea of making a profit seems incredible to me, but I know lots of people manage it. My DSis asks extortionate prices for her stuff on eBay and gets it. Sometimes I have had an identical product on there reasonably priced and it’s been ignored.

It’s a mystery.

Either way, I definitely don’t buy a calendar or an edit thinking I will sell x, y and z from it!

I went on tik tok the other day and left the gloosubox advent in my basket. I could have got it for £64 last night but after a closer look its not for me. Its a shame its not a perfume id like or id have gotten it. I dont like any milky ones. So even at that price its not worth it for me. If you leave it in your basket you are likely to get more coupons. 🀩

I have too much already and need to start selling stuff again but need to build up to it as takes a lot of effort and brain space of which im low on atm 🀣

Im waiting for a mens advent to reduce a bit for a xmas gift. 🀩

OvaHere · 20/09/2026 10:56

@IlovePond there's a psychology to it and it's tricky to get right.

If you price stuff cheaply to sell e.g Β£8 when everyone else is selling Β£10-15 rather than people thinking ooh that's a fair price and a bargain what happens is you get all the people who want it for 10 pence and your firstborn thrown in for free.

The people who probably would pay Β£8 I think must subconsciously feel there is something wrong with yours compared to the higher priced ones and seem to avoid. So if you want Β£8 for an item your best chance of getting that is to price around Β£12 -Β£13.

On the surface that may look like trying to profit on AC items but really I just want to sell for a price that makes it worth the cost of packaging and tripping off to the parcel shop.

IlovePond · 20/09/2026 11:01

That makes sense @OvaHere - I have tried that too occasionally, but I think I just don’t have β€˜the knack’.

My feedback is full of: β€˜fantastic bargain, beautifully packaged’ type comments 😹 but that doesn’t seem to help!

I have managed to sell a few things this year for peanuts but am closing the Pond bargain basement until January so as not to go over 30 items sold!

Yeah, I've seen some like that. It's very cheeky. It's still a big saving for the buyer though so I get why some people might still purchase it πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Also with the new rules on there, everything seems to be the sellers fault if something goes wrong. Evri stamp on it - sellers fault, parcel shop loses it - sellers fault πŸ™„πŸ€£

I try to price fairly and sometimes cheaper too, but like ova, even when I price it the lowest, someone wants to start haggling with me like they're in Egypt or turkey trying to get a fake LV bag 🀭

Perfectly put and completely agree. Its a strange one πŸ€” 🀣🀷
And hard to understand 🀣

And ink for printer. Those cartridges are pricey now. I always print my own labels as too many times I went and label machine not working, empty, etc.
Im thinking of buying a label machine. πŸ€”

IDontHateRainbows · 20/09/2026 11:36

As an established ebay seller in this category ( been doing it 10 years / >10000 sales) there are two things that make a sale- price and seller rep. About 1/3 of my trade is repeat customers. I price to the market so long as its not stupidly low and don't consider the rrp to have any bearing on the ebay price. Sometimes I will only make a few quid on something sometimes more but it all balances out. I'm not really doing this to make a profit, just cover my personal habit so if i can make back what I sold on an advent calendar and keep say a quarter of the stuff for myself, all good.

Plus I enjoy it so its not a massive chore.

I have seen some people trying to sell items on Vinted for their full retail price, which is mad.

I am only selling items because there are things I know I won’t get around to using or are not suitable for my hair etc, and I hate waste and would much rather someone who wants it gets a bargain.

user593 · 20/09/2026 12:19

I made a modest profit on the contents of my HFACs and got the items I wanted β€˜for free’. I priced my items competitively and they sold swiftly. If I sold the items I’m keeping I’d probably boost my profit by around Β£300 as I’ve kept the Brompton Immortals. I really like Ex Nihilo fragrances and given the calendar cost the same as Brompton Immortals it seemed a no brainer, and I’ve also discovered a few others I like.

Is anyone buying the Penhaligons calendar? I’m tempted as I can get 15% off with BLC. The few fragrances I’ve tried I’ve really liked but a lot of the calendar is unknown to me

What do people think the tipping point is for buying what you want from a BAC on vinted/ebay vs just buying the calendar? Β£150
worth of a
Β£275 BAC? I’m trying to do my calculations for the space nk one!

I dont know. Thats why I am still in 2 minds about it. I have to love/like at least half of whats in it though for me to purchase it in the first place. Good value for money.

If I just want it for one thing, ill buy it seperately.

Moneywise it feels as if spending 150 pounds for stuff in an advent that costs 225 is a bit expensive. As usually you can sell the stuff you dont like and get the items that you really want for less than the 150 spend on Ebay/Vinted otherwise.

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 20/09/2026 12:58

Part 1 of Lisa Potter-Dixon’s BAC26 vlog.

Not really a β€˜review’ as such (she’s pretty positive about all of them) - she shows the BACs, opens them up and gives info about the cost/value/product sizes, then reveals 2 random drawers of each (full contents are in her blog).

Some of the main players aren’t in this part 1, but I did find it useful to actually see the size of each calendar (some of them look a lot more impressive than others) and compare the aesthetics.

I watched it on x2 and skipped bits.

The frequent mentions of out of date products in Advent Calendars prompted me to check the Lumene calendar I bought last December. I’ve been keeping it for October, my birthday month. I’ve checked 3 codes so far and they suggest the products are 5 years old! The creams are sealed and I’ve not opened them, but I sniffed the cleanser and it smells off. So disappointed. I only paid Β£40 for it with discounts, but that’s not the point.
Have emailed customer services. Bah!!

I don't think its cheeky so long as its clearly stated in the listing. People pay for it if they want it.
I missed the HFAC launch so bought mine off an ebay reseller at an inflated price but I was happy to do so.

SheilaFentiman · 20/09/2026 14:02

@RoseTeaLady I did similar with Lumene, though my birthday was earlier in the year. I’ve used more than half the products now and haven’t had any issues (is it the milk cleanser? I have started but not finished that one and it smells normal to me)

Advententhusiast · 20/09/2026 14:11

JoRaRaRa · 20/09/2026 13:39

This is very true. I can imagine a man not being fussed about Delina though.

True, but loads of people also buy it as a couple.

And paying 250 or even 275 with Brompton Immortals out of it, you better at least like the rest.

If you really want the Delina, you can purchase a sample set for 40 at PDM which is 7x1.5ml. You get 2 samples at every order so thats another 3ml. The 40 Eur turns into a voucher when you purchase full size. 30ml is full size.

so when ready, you order the Exclusif and get another 2 samples of 3ml. When you spend 150 you also get a 5ml travel size.

So if I want the Delina only I know what Ill be doing
