I don't know if any of you have used the perfume sample websites, I often cannot find a store to smell a new perfume I think I would like so I order a small sample from these places, I always had a good experience.
One of them have come up with advent calendars and I was excited untill I saw the price, they want 230 pounds (introductory price) for 24 samples, 2 ml each. 😲 They have cheaper ones with designer fragrances, but I cannot believe what a poor value this is, unless I'm wromg.

Reposting my post I put on the wrong thread!

Did anyone get the K beauty advent calendar from Pure Seoul this morning? It sold out in like 2 minutes. I managed to bag one, which surprised me as I never usually manage to get anything when it's popular
. It

was Β£149 and worth over Β£500. I wasn't going to get anything as I have really bad cystic acne and everything breaks me out, and it is so sore.
I tried Augustinus Bader the 'rich cream' as a 'treat' on Monday night post my bath as l'd heard some good things about it, woke up with a spot in the corner of my lip on the skin side but it was so big underneath it had infiltrated my lip and I literally looked like I'd had half of my lip over done with filler on Tuesday morning when I woke up. I had to ask my boss if I could work from home and her response to the photo was 'fuck me do you need a&e?'
anyway! A friend went to Korea and I got given some lovely skin care for not killing her plants and I haven't broken out once! So I went for it!
General sale is at 10am, is anyone else going to go for it ?
that really is it now. I've got that one and the Diptyque one which is a birthday gift but is such poor value for money
the candles are diddly. I'll use it to see what
smells I like most and maybe buy bigger ones if I like them.

Which are the bits you want? Providing it's not half of the calendar is it more cost effective to pick up resale?

There's a tipping point with calendars where it's better to just buy one but Harrods is expensive at Β£270. So maybe work out roughly what you could pick stuff up for to see which is the better option.

Lol, Ive been going back and forth for over a week now wether I should just get it for the 2 items I really want vs Vinted that goes for about 85/90 pounds for those 2 items. There is some other stuff that I wouldnt mind having/trying at the same time.

The question for me is, do I want to go through all the work of selling it off very slowly (since my temp Vinted ban) and end up with a few more items for roughly a 100 pounds total spend in the end, or do I just go for the easy route.

I dont want to be stuck with products I dont use. The Vinted ban has stiffled my Avent enthusiasm as its difficult to shift it otherwise.

Wish they hadn't got rid of the laugh reaction @Advententhusiast 😁

Last night I was doing a bit of TK Maxx doomscrolling, as one does when one is expecting a stupid amount of skincare in the next few months (eye-rolling at myself here!) and I saw quite a few Patyka products. I just noticed there's a Patyka product in the Oh My Cream advent. Has anyone used their products before?

Yes, it was useless considering the price. AB is usually a draw but not this one.

@Advententhusiast this is exactly my problem πŸ˜‚. @OvaHere you are absolutely spot on- I should, and probably will, start pricing out on eBay for the few bits I actually want- and then I know I’ll throw that hard work to the wind and buy the entire calendar because β€˜it’s a bargain’ πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜³πŸ˜¬

CinderellaParker · 18/09/2026 10:25

I was in H Beauty in Edinburgh yesterday and tried out a few of the perfumes from the FAC as I am considering buying it on Ebay from one of the resellers. I had it in my shopping basket, interrupted by urgent phone call from alarm people because 90 year old FiL had set off his alert bracelet, dealt with that and it had sold out.

I liked enough of them that it would have been a good buy and chatting to the lovely young man (which makes me sounds about a hundred!) in the perfume department he was horrified by my tale of woe, told me to hang on dashed off and came back looking regretful - he thought he'd seen one in the stock room but sadly not... I was impressed that he tried because CS is often lacking these days. And I know that also makes me sound about a hundred.

PS - The Born To Stand Out Golden Milk smelled so rank I had to get some micellar water from the Charlotte Tilbury counter to get it off my wrist! Apparently it's very Marmite - does anyone here like it? If I do buy it that one will be straight on Vinted!

I’m currently trying the exfoliator. I say trying I’ve had it open about a month and I really avoid using it. The colour is horrendous which makes quite a mess and it’s not the greatest exfoliator either (it’s ok if I’m being fair). I also have the face wash and cleansing oil but I’ve not got around to trying them. I picked them up in the oh my cream sales so I didn’t pay a lot for all 3 products so I thought I would give them ago. My current verdict based on only using one product is I wonder if they are an ingredients over experience brand? They use great ingredients but I need the experience to be a little more refined.

Actually believe it or not even though the first couple of minutes are genuinely horrible (a bit like newborn vom) it really is lovely when it dries down. The question is whether you can get through yhe first few minutes of mingingness!!

I wonder if it’s organic French carrot that makes that horrendous orange/red colour in the exfoliator? It does feel a bit like applying baby food come to think of it. I have ordered the OMC BAC πŸ˜‚.

My mum used AB lash serum and it shrunk her previously flourishing lashes. (She’d been using uk lash previously and has since gone back to it)

ETA: I also had a AB one and gave up on it, but I maybe didn’t give it long enough to be fair. Uk lash doesn’t work for me either, even though it works a treat for my mum. So I’m wondering if it really is a case of different strokes for different folks?
