Are these shoes fashionable again?

Ballerinas are supposedly in again. I have these shoes from around 2010-2013, are they wearable again? I have them in a few colours, I used to find them very comfortable. I know I can wear what I want but I want to be vaguely fashionable. Are they fashionable again or can you clearly see that they are 15 year old shoes?

Sorry OP they are ugly and have never been in fashion.

I would advise to buy a simple classic round toe in plain nude, black or navy that will be wearable whenever you want to wear them.

Look at Freed outdoor shoes, they are an authentic ballet shoe brand and their outdoor flats are really comfortable.

It was Brigitte Bardot who popularised ballet shoes as streetwear (she trained as a dancer). She found it tricky walking around St Tropez because of the cobbled streets, & asked the founder of Repetto ballet shoes to customise a pair for her to walk comfortably in.

@GreenLemonade - maybe you could pair yours with an outfit like Brigitte's??!

I had Repetto shoes back in the 90s (similar to a pointe ballet show but for outdoors) and they drove me mad slipping off the back of my heel, totally impractical, would have even less patience for them now!

They look like they are sitting the same on Brigitte, but I guess it was better than trotting around getting your heel stuck (and ruined) in the cobblestones - and she is young here too!

Yes! I think current models are a bit more substantial than the ones shown on Bardot though. I love them. But not the price 😩 Repetto used to have a concession in Selfridges but that disappeared sadly.

They’re fine. Classic. Wear them to work to get some use out of them. I like them better than the high vamp and pointy ones. Don’t be a fashion victim!

Current ballet flats are a much higher cut , so less toe on show , this means they are easier to keep on, none of that desperate toe gripping
Personally I think a round toe looks dated, much prefer a square or longer shape

I like them. Carry on wearing them. I would wear them but I have awkward shaped feet and a lot of styles don't fit (no arches and very narrow but broader at front.) So be pleased you can wear them and just enjoy them.

Im talking about those particular shoes, not ballet flats in general. The majority of women in my office (under or over 30) wouldn’t be caught dead in those particular ones. Maybe the fashion is different where you live.

They’ve turned her feet into trotters! That looks like the antithesis of comfort and empowerment (which is what I thought Nike prided themselves on creating with their women’s trainers and shoes).

I’ve just been educating myself on these awful bovine shoes and wondering if I’m wrong about them and that they might actually be good for feet, separating the toes like that to maybe prevent them crossing over in later life.

Tabi shoes are ok (I've not tried them myself), ribbons round ankles are fine if you are a ballet dancer (I'm not) but sneakerinas are even worse than the name.

I don't like ballet flats anyway.
Won't be parted from my skinny or straight jeans. I wear boots in the autumn- winter months.

Fine if you don't like the particular Tory Burch shoes but the "ooh looks like a Quaker/Shaker/Mormon" comments on this board are tedious.

They just reminded me of the shoes people wore (and still wear) where my grandmother’s house is. I used to spend a lot of time there (and my grandmother had similar shoes too). Not the religions you’ve listed. It’s not really that deep!

if you’ve kept them this long you obviously love them. So yes you’re in luck, they’re back in fashion & are perfectly ok to wear.

If you like them and they're comfy I say wear them!

Plenty of "in fashion" stuff is, imo, ridiculous (socks and sliders for example). I just ignore it and wear what I like.

I thought you probably meant nuns who didn't wear habits! My parents (teacher & librarian) worked at a Catholic school with both nuns & brothers, so we regularly had them visit our house for a chat. The nuns were very fond of similar sensible shoes ...

I always thought this type of shoe became hugely popular because Princess Diana wore similar so she wouldn't tower over Charlie. 😊

I have several, but they must have a bit of lift at the heel, just enough to stop me walking like a flipping duck! I have the ones with the little tie bow, MJ's with double straps, and gold flats (with a bit of heel) for hols. Not buying any more, they'll do.

I only have a few pairs, as I'm sandals in summer & trainers & boots in autumn/winter. My favourite pair is probably deeply unfashionable now, but I love scallop details on clothing & I found a pair of Chloe ones on Vinted a couple of years ago. Comfy, go with everything & cost £60 ...!
