Some brown barrel leg jeans from M&S and some adidas loafers in burgundy suede.

Debatingthings · 31/08/2026 20:12

Lewis 501 straight jeans, haven't been impressed with Levis for ages but they were only 50quid, nice and rigid denim, don't gape around the waist and make my bum look great!

Ftype😍

A Radley handbag for every day use. I love it as it has lots of pockets, so I can stash everything away and find stuff easily.

A cashmere wine colour cardi.

Westman Atelier Lipliner in Je Rêve. I got it in my last Liberty's Beauty Drop and loved it so much that I bought a second one immediately, just in case it was suddenly discontinued Grin I didn't even both with lipliner before, but this changed my mind.

Neutrogena Retinol Boost/Night Serum I haven't got along with retinol at all before trying this. I've been using it for about 3 weeks, and today noticed that a couple of lines that I was aware of have definitely reduced and my skin looks more plumped than it did. I wasn't expecting such a difference.

A black draped maxi skirt from Entire Studios. It looks amazing with every t-shirt and jumper that I own. Makes me feel like Morticia Adams just going to Tesco!

Zoeva eyeliner in various metallic shades, very soft and creamy on the thin skin of my 53 year old eyelids.

An Alexander McQueen double lapel blazer from Vestiaire, just beautiful tailoring.

A vintage Helmut Lang cashmere jacket, also from Vestiarie, wonderfully light and soft and again, beautiful tailoring. I cannot wait for the autumn so I can start wearing it!

Draped maxi skirt in black - Entire Studios | Mytheresa

I really like this company, they have the same style as Rick Owens but a LOT cheaper!

Oh fab, thank you! I really fancy that for winter. I've just been browsing...that website is seriously dangerous for my budget!

I save lots of things on Vestiaire, but have never taken the plunge & purchased anything! I think it's probably because they're usually much costlier than anything on eBay/Etsy/Vinted, whether new or vintage. And their photos are so bloody awful that I never feel sure what the item will really look like! So awful, in fact, that even a search of the image via Google Lens often doesn't help.

Do you just take a risk, or are these things you've tried on before, or are they from labels that you know & love & are pretty certain about?

A vintage silk embroidered, lightly padded Japanese kimono dating from, I think, the 1940s. I spotted it on Vinted, despite rubbish photos, & snapped it up at once!

It's very similar to this one (but with cherry blossom & chrysanthemum embroidery on a dark navy blue background). But I did not pay £1,200!!! It's 3/4 length on me, so I'll wear it as a coat (for dry evenings only!). Probably just with a T-shirt & indigo denims, as it's so beautiful & elaborate.

Chi, 1940s dark brown silk Japanese embroidered floral kimono

Enveloped in the whispered elegance of 1940s Japan, this dark brown silk kimono drapes with the grace of a bygone era, its cascading lilac Wisteria and blooming pink roses embroidered like delicate living canvas, while the fine black silk lining create...

I am close to your age and I’m thinking of having a go. Where did you buy it from? If you don’t mind me asking.

Amazon. My tip is be lighthanded until you work out what amount you need.

It’s this @itsmeagainagain

I’ve got that dress, had it for about 15 years and still wear it.

mixingplaydoh · 01/09/2026 09:55

My top buys this summer are:

Fitflop flip flops in gold - really comfortable and go with everything. I liked them so much I bought a second pair in bronze when they were reduced on Amazon, to wear around the house.

Waterproof gold pendant from Initialled - absolutely gorgeous.

Square neck ribbed vests from New Look - a great length and a supportive fit. Bought about ten, and some of them are designated pool wear - so now have the odd suncream stain etc. But at the price, that’s fine.

Another Chloe Love Story fan - bought in duty free for less than £40 for a big bottle.

This pink puff sleeve cotton maxi dress:

A lipstick I got when I was in Japan recently that enhances my natural lip colour. I don't actually know the brand or anything, because it turns out I just bought the refill instead of the actual lipstick. But hey, it works, and it's great!

A nice Arabian perfume:

Another nice perfume from Korres:

A perfume discovery set from D'qar - just chose the 5 I thought match my preferences:

Just had my 1980s Omega Seamaster wrist watch delivered this week:

Are you me 🤣
I got both those perfumes on my way back from Thailand

and an omega sea master

Uggs from Vinted and in Schuh sale. I've never wore them before, I'm a trainers and Fly boots wearer usually. They are so comfy and go with the type of trousers I wear. I need a knee replacement and the Uggs are still ok to wear.

lightweight rubberised coat from Zara. Its a sort of bomber style and looks better in real life than on the website

I have resorted to skechers slip ins - these are lazy shoes I'd said I'd never stoop so low to wear, because if you can't be bothered to do up your shoelaces you have lost interest in life - yet here we are.
I only wear them to work though.

A white cotton v neck jumper from French connection. It has a caramel stripe around the neckline and cuffs. It reminds me of a jumper cricketers wear.
Also a long white cotton dress from M&S in the sale. It’s fully lined. Not to everyone’s taste as it’s long with a lot of material with puff sleeves! The neckline is perfect for me though. The back is los but not so that I can’t wear a bra.
Thirdly a pair of short, lightweight pjs from Asda of all places. Finding ones that have a short sleeved top rather than a strappy vest was a challenge. Added to that shorts which don’t ride up my backside. A total game changer in the heat as I wear them to walk around the house in.

I am waiting on this parcel arriving!

My buys have been some ribbed cotton button through tops and matching trousers from Primark! Black and chocolate brown. They were only £6/£8/£10 and they are nice and thick stretchy cotton.

This top from Mango, thick cream knit and a lovely shape.

This jacket from M&S, I love it. I have sized down 2 sizes though.
