Have you fallen out of “love” with a shop you previously loved?

For me it’s &Other Stories. Granted I looked in yesterday and did try something in but there’s been a change of direction and Inam not liking it.

Oxfam charity shops. Pathetic demonisation of women who know that men can't become women and that women-only spaces are for women.

This very oldie was minded to look up Lewis Separates for whom I worked on Saturdays in the mid '60s, I thought it had morphed into Chelsea Girl, but apparently it morphed into River Island although Chelsea Girl was a company of the same owner. Didn't realise the RI connection when I was taking my own teens in there!

My first thought was a local- ish large, independent garden centre. It was beautifully laid out, had lots of garden stuff, furniture, plants, tools, accessories, barbecues, etc and I enjoyed going there. It was a proper garden centre. In the last year, it has ‘sold out’ and now the large furniture/barbecue area stocks clothing. The lovely small farm shop area has become more commercialised and it feels like a chain garden centre. The only good thing is an improved coffee shop!

Hotter, many ugly styles but some good ones and they are fabulously comfortable- but for years now the compostite they use for the soles disintegrates when the shoes are 8-10 years old no matter how little you have worn them. To start with they replaced them no questions asked now they only give you 20% off a new pair, and that's a struggle.

I only found out last year that Chelsea girl had changed to River Island! I think RI is disappearing soon…

Yes to H&M, used to be my go to shop for staples like t-shirts and work shirts and some more quirky stuff. Last pair of work trousers I got are both really poor quality and if I venture in nowadays, I can't find anything that excites me and it's now quite pricy for what it is.

My Boots isn't like that at all, very edgy and on trend but then it's a big flagship store...

I miss Dorothy Perkins too

Yes their viscose which doesn’t last a single wash and the thread used in leg seams gives me a painful rash. Also their cashmere is thinner ply and more
prone to immediate bobbling now despite zooming up in price.

Everywhere except Tu at Sainsbury's. How the hell is a supermarket managing to do better than high street stalwarts like M&S and Next, and higher end high street places like Whistles, Reiss and Cos?

Vinted is excellent for getting previous seasons' offerings from our fave shops when they used decent fabrics and their pattern design wasn't migraine-inducing.

Another one for Next. Awful cuts, middling quality and what’s up with the weird neon rubbish.

Oh yes, their shops were laid out so nicely too - jumpers folded on shelves, trousers and shirts matched and displayed together! The lovely catalogue used to have real fabric swatches too.

Liz Clairborne used to have some nice stuff as well and Racing Green for women

I miss Benetton for their knitwear in a huge range of colours, Principles, Richard Shops, all department stores, small boutiques which sold really 'different' things, shops which sold clothes made in India - lovely cotton, colourful skirts, dresses and tops - and original Body Shop.,

So was I

They believe men can be women and have loads of men dressed as women all over their site

Then they released a load of badges with crap like 'cum slut' and 'choke me'

They put out a statement saying 'anyone who doesn't support our beliefs,they can sod off and buy their tights elsewhere' (or along those lines-i cant remember word for word)

So I did-i went over to better tights and have been very happy with both their tights and chub rub shorts-same prices and same quality

Once upon a time I shopped exclusively there but they went downhill when it changed hands.
Moved on to 24S and not even that fussed with them anymore. Opting for brands own websites directly instead of through another store.

I bought a skirt in Next in 1985. Black, classic, pure wool, fully lined, fairly expensive at the time. I've still got it and wear it to funerals.

I'd struggle to find anything a patch on that in there now. In fact, I wouldn't even try.

I still think about a lovely pair of softly boot cut trousers I bought in about 2000, they were beautiful and wore so well. Some lucky devil will have bought them from a charity shop and been amazed they were Next.

Yes the kids stuff is very good IMO.

Their stick deodorants now contain aluminium!

@Bloozie I get my grandchildren clothes from my local Sainsbury's, some are fantastic quality.

I miss having a good range of high st children's clothes shops. Adams, BHS, and Woolworths for Ladybird were all great.

Expecting them to replace shoes after 8 years seems a bit of an ask!
