Have you fallen out of “love” with a shop you previously loved?

For me it’s &Other Stories. Granted I looked in yesterday and did try something in but there’s been a change of direction and Inam not liking it.

Because of online shopping, things only have to look good in photographs of models over 5'10 tall, not on the rail in the shop

Oh yes some of the patterns are hideous. Whats with that?

Yet very occasionally they'll do one or two rather nice patterns? They had a lovely greeny blue abstract-patterned skirt last year (though their stuff is never long enough for me).

I don't understand how the same person or team can design both ...??!!

Beware ‘Never Fully Dressed’!! I bought dd some white shorts with a print near the pockets. Whilst they are pretty, the print is a weird plasticky sort of stick-on arrangement and just seems really cheap given they cost over £100!!

Not all Toast, I agree...but most. I bought a very expensive velvet dressing gown before Christmas; seams were uneven, lining puckered and poorly cut, stitches missing, even the Toast label was half undone. This would not have been accepted by them a few years ago.
Made in China too.
Sorry, yes, trousers from TU. In the sale now, so only a few sizes left. No 10s or I'd buy more.

Also M and S. I returned two winter coats for ripping inside and the manager insisted to me she hadn’t had any others back. And mint velvet is also crap now.

Whistles, Hush, Jigsaw (they take forever to refund you too - never a good sign), Reiss, Next etc.

However, I've been impressed recently with some items from Uniqlo (t shirts), M&S (jeans), Jaeger (sold through M&S, I just got a lovely copper coloured proper wool jacket for £150), some stuff from Nobody's Child (tip: order via M&S or John Lewis where possible as the delivery and return costs buying directly can sometimes be a bit steep imo) and With Nothing Underneath seersucker shirts. I also love Navy Grey jumpers, but they are investments for sure!

Going to out myself as seriously frumpy now but for a place that often has great value and great quality - Costco! I have got some great stuff from there. Obviously all casual stuff but I get my gym things and lots of casual basics from there.

Space NK. I love a beauty product but the amount of money they spend on taking ‘influencers’ on a jolly enrages me. I don’t need anything, but when I do it won’t be from there.

Going through a storage unit we have had for a shamefully long time I unearthed a suitcase of old clothes from the 80s and 90s that I kept for sentimental reasons. The fabric quality is amazing even though I was young and poor and shopped exclusively from high street stores like Miss Selfridge. So much so that I have selected a few pieces to be turned into a memory quilt.

Where are you seeing those prices?!

I swear by H&M for my 3 year olds and 11 month old, summer dresses £4 each, multipack of princess knickers 8 pairs for £11, T-shirts £2-4. I got all of their summer wardrobe from there.

Yes, John Lewis. There's never any staff to help you. I thought customer service was their strong point. Not any more.

On the subject of knickers, any recommendations for everyday knickers please? I daren’t go back to M&S after seeing the comments about a garrotted muff!

One place someone I know finds good quality unusual outfits is tk maxx.

TKMaxx has gone downhill too......used to have Gold Label in my local branch, everything from Marni to Pucci via Alberta Ferretti. Now it's just low grade high st. copies. Possibly it's difficult to import the good Italian and French labels now.
