Say like size 14 but curvy or size 10 but no arse and just like a stick.

OP, post a picture of your body and let us tell you what we think about your size 😝

POMSFlowerInsectTimedCount · 23/07/2026 09:37

Happy with my stick-like figure, thanks. Fantastic to be able to go bra-less except for running.

curvy for sure. I’m a 12 on the bottom and 10 on top. Always had a big arse and and 36c boobs I just think clothes fit better on someone with curves. Clothes kinda just hang on skinny people that have no shape

I am a similar size now in my late 40s. I am quite happy. I was a size 8 for most of my life but at 5 ft 8 I looked 'skinny'rather than particularly healthy. As I have got older I can't tell what size people are at all as realise that dress size looks so different on different people. I remember my sister and I looking at one of those 'body type' articles in a magazine when we were a lot younger and she decided I was 'boyish' - despite my quite prominent hips and bum. I realise that she just saw me as thinner than her. I reality we have always been approximately the same size but I am about 4 ins taller than her so we look different.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/07/2026 10:31

I’m a size 12, 5ft 6 - I feel beefy, and liked being a size 10 much better, but I whacked on a load of chub when I started HRT.

I do reformer once or twice a week, lift weights, and walk a lot, and I try to think on what my body can do rather than what it looks like. It’s hard though. I’m 53 and lived the Kate Moss “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” years and now it’s the jabs years!

blueskynoclouds · 23/07/2026 11:24

Curvy doesn’t suit me. I look older when bigger and as I’m fairly short I don’t think I look comfortable at all.

I have quite a small frame so I look better when slim.

SherbetDipDap · 23/07/2026 12:49

Can I just remind you all that this is the horrific size 14 body you are all so traumatised by? 🤣

I’d love so much to be skinny 😔 I’m on endless diets and go from a size 12-18 up and down. I’d just love to settle on 12. Which is skinny for me. I find it very hard.

namechangefor2mins · 23/07/2026 13:03

Slim, not skinny. I've never been skinny but I have been very slim. I've gone from a size 10 pre-children which was slim for me to a too curvy size 16/18. Clothes hung better and looked better on my slimmer frame, I feel frumpy and flabby with a larger body. Having a double chin is ageing. Also, in shops, the first top in a rack is usually size 8 and shapely. When you reach to the back for the larger sizes, they are more box-like and square, less fitted, more accommodating.

I don’t think anyone has claimed to be traumatised. I think each and every person has said it’s their very personal opinion. As is their right? Not sure why you’re trying to correct these posters?

limetrees32 · 23/07/2026 13:11

Skinny

All the posters saying ‘a size 10 is chunky’, ‘I’m flabby at a size 8’ etc. 🙄

I have run marathons, taken part in open water swimming races and triathlons, hiked 100 miles, lifted big weights etc. in this body. I’m faster when lighter, but I’m certainly not at the back of the pack now either. My ‘bulk’ isn’t inconveniencing anyone and I’m certainly healthier than average.

The point I’m making is that being ‘bigger’ isn’t nearly as scary or disgusting as the tone of this thread would have you believe.

For some people size 10 is chunky. Not saying that everyone who is that size or bigger is chunky, but when I am a size 10 I am in the overweight BMI category and weighed nearly 11 stone. I am quite short though which makes a difference.

We all carry weight differently and have different frames, so sizes isn’t a good indication of whether someone is ‘chunky’. Some will be overweight yet still fit into sizes others would view as slim.

This photo doesn’t traumatise me, but it equally doesn’t make me want to pick this size over a size 10. This photo is similar to me at 25BMI and I prefer myself smaller, I also know I’m healthier when smaller. The question was which would you prefer.

CeeJay81 · 23/07/2026 13:35

Curvy. I have the bottom curve but am missing the boobs. I'm fairly slim apart from my bum and thighs. That never goes. I just would like some boobs to balance me out. Instead of being different sizes.

rollingeyes12 · 23/07/2026 13:40

Well I have both! Skinny on top (no boobs) but a big bum/hips/thighs. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it! 😂

but seriously I’ve prob got worst of both. I’d prefer to be slim OR curvy. Not what I’ve got.

SansaClegane · 23/07/2026 14:30

I hate this false dichotomy. “Curvy” these days is so often used as a euphemism for “overweight” / fat. Surely curvy just means a curvy shape? You can be skinny and curvy or chubby and curvy, similarly you can be skinny and rectangular or chubby and an apple shape, which imo isn’t curvy.
im a size 10 at the moment (my weight has fluctuated from extremes all over my adult life), but because I’m an hourglass shape, I’ve always considered myself to be curvy no matter at what weight.

BettyJoanPerske · 23/07/2026 14:52

Honestly, this thread is why it makes me laugh when women accuse men of body policing and body shaming. Women are so much more harsh and cruel to other women than men are.

But everyone is giving their personal opinion and how they feel? You feel happy at whatever size you are. I would not be happy personally being the size of the photo you posted. Nobody needs to be convinced any differently? We’re all allowed preferences and opinions.

You're kind of missing the point.
I'll ignore the 10 is chunky comment, that's an outlier.

But for other people, "being bigger" or "being curvy" would be entirely wrong and unhealthy FOR THEM, or it would involve a lot of specific exercise and they'd revert to type unless they maintained it.

I am tall and very lean. I would be very uncomfortable being a 14 with large thighs - it's just not the way I'm built. I'd either have to eat many Gregs or be lifting pretty heavy stuff at the gym (which I don't enjoy at all).

Equally, I know many women who are similar in physique to you. They do just as much exercise as I do, but different sports.
It's all good.

SaraCrewe06 · 23/07/2026 15:29

Always skinny. It’s healthier, clothes look better, I feel better.
I’m a size 12 now and just beneath the “unhealthy” BMI range.
I look ok but know if I lost a few pounds I would look and feel better.
If only it were that easy…

Not traumatised at all by the size 14 photo but I wouldn't want to be that big thats all. I'm too slim and would like to weigh a bit more but if I had to choose I'd stay slim (refuse to use that other horrible word)

TreesAtSea · 23/07/2026 16:46

Great use of pejorative language there, OP.
As I'm sure many have pointed out, it's possible to be a curvy size 10, or an even smaller size, or a straight-up-and-down size 14/20/whatever. There's no way the terms "no arse" or "like a stick" are meant neutrally.

Helenbelena · 23/07/2026 17:33

Size 10 means nothing.

I know size 8 women with beautiful curves and muscles in the right places!

And I also know size 10 women with no boobs and a protruding belly for example.

Bringemout · 23/07/2026 17:40

You can be a curvy size 6 though and a shapeless 14. They are two different things, weight vs shape. Unless the question is would I rather be thin with no curves or bigger but with curves. I’m a size 10/12 on top 14 on bottom. I used to hate my shape but quite like it now. Prefer 14 with curves tbh.

There was an interesting study where men and women chose ideal bodies, women consistently chose much leaner figures than men did.
