and now I really want to order those spectacular blundstones! :-)

ScottishMouse · 13/10/2026 05:49

@Gelsomino a kindred gift! And that truffle scarf is a fab colour.
unlike others, I really need to know what the kindred gift is to decide if I should place an order. I love the idea of kindred gifts, but in reality I have given most of mine away as they haven’t been something I like/need. Would you dm me and let me know?

I’ve just ordered the very same scarf @Gelsomino and can see there is a Kindred gift listed on my order in the email. That’s cheered me up!
What do you think of the scarf?

I love the scarf, its that lovely deep chocolate and the perfect size and weight , I have big scarves and wanted something light

It sounds perfect @Gelsomino. I’ve got a few of the larger wool cashmere scarves but wanted something I can wear indoors as my ancient house is freezing in winter and I sit at a desk all day. The colour sounds as I’d hoped for too.

The navy looks to be a good dark navy, would you say so? I have the navy large scarf but it’s a light navy, which I’m not so keen on. That may be sold eventually. I’ll see if I wear it this year.

ScottishMouse · 13/10/2026 09:04

Thanks so much @Gelsomino , I appreciate that. You’ve helped my decision making.

faustina · 13/10/2026 09:27

@Gelsomino - saw your message last night about the kindred gift and ordered the little yak socks I'd had my eye on. Thank you also for the sensitive image this morning - very helpful!

It was last years but yes a nice dark navy

ScallopShellWalk · 13/10/2026 13:53

I ordered a lovely pair of green tights. Happy to see a kindred gift included. Thank you @Gelsomino for the photo.

OftenOrange · 13/10/2026 15:29

@Gelsomino Hurrah! Is it a good one ? No need for details 👏
I received a booklet about Toast offerings, not counting that as a gift though….
I think I’ll reorder the Annie cords as the waist is a bit too tight and another pair may be better .

ScottishMouse · 13/10/2026 18:05

It’s feeling a bit hopeless based on my failed try one lately, but I have a voucher burning a hole in my pocket that I’d love to spend. Has anyone tried the new mohair wool
blend rounded sweater in golden olive or the new padded cotton short coat in montella? I love the look of both but am rather unsure about the colour of both. 🤔

ScottishMouse · 13/10/2026 18:06

Also, i’m really missing all the individual instagram pages from the shops. They were always good for seeing items styled in other ways on different models.

triggers34 · 13/10/2026 18:25

How does kindred work ? I’ve only just be come a member . Do you have to buy something to receive a gift and what happens if you return the order ?

Yes Grin

AFingerofFudge · 13/10/2026 19:19

I’ve actually made a purchase for the first time in a while! I had a voucher from the DCs and put it towards the Alpaca knitted wrap. It’s arrived today and I love it! Although it’s fairly “under the radar” in terms of not standing out in any way, it’s so simple and well cut that I think it will become a favourite!!

I feel the same as you @ScottishMouse about the local Instagram pages. I wonder if it has had an impact on their profits? There’s a few reasons why I haven’t been buying much Toast this last year (price being a big factor) but one of the reasons is not getting the ideas on how to style things. I’ve not been blessed with best imagination so I really rely on ideas from others!

OftenOrange · 13/10/2026 19:40

@triggers34 As far as I’m aware Kindred gives you the free mail pass, access to occasional in house or online Toast events, early sale access and these gifts
you need to purchase online at the right time. ( now❗️)
The etiquette of returning an item that came with a gift is up to you , I don’t remember being faced with that decision as I usually buy multiples and keep at least one item .
Any thoughts on that anyone?

OftenOrange · 13/10/2026 19:45

I returned the over short cords to Shoreditch today, my first time in the new location. It’s a real pain to find especially as I’d my phone and although I live quite close
The staff are all sweet and helpful but I so don’t like that bit of Shoreditch, there are no similar or interesting shops to pop into unlike Redchurch.
I tried the padded cotton jacket in a golden brown , on the fence as for a little more zI could buy the Windsor jacket from Soeur which I love , not at all similar but I don’t tend to think sensibly …

ScottishMouse · 13/10/2026 19:52

@OftenOrange can you share more thoughts about the padded jacket?
@AFingerofFudge is it the new grey alpaca wrap you bought? I tried it and liked it a lot but wasn’t sure I would wear it that much - I liked it without a top/tee underneath but then will I wear a vneck in winter (unlikely). I also thought it might be good for a more dressed up sweater for an evening out, but I run warm so knitwear in a pub or restaurant is often too much for me. 🤔

AFingerofFudge · 13/10/2026 20:12

@ScottishMouse no, it’s the navy knitted wrap that’s been around a while and accrued 46 reviews.

OftenOrange · 13/10/2026 20:13

@ScottishMouse I’ll try but do ask any specific things !
Lovely golden colour , just perfect for wearing with most colours . The cotton has a slight sheen which sounds awful but it really brought the colour to life in a very Toast understated way .
It’s padded so will be fine for most of Winter especially worn with knitwear.
A nice roomy jacket , I could wear XS or S as both fitted , the S gave more room for thicker jumpers .
Having said that with something like one of the Donegals ( in love with the dark red) it will be a lot of bulk which is why I didn’t get it today.
Also I as I expect things to work for four years or=more I wonder how the cotton
pick up grubbiness on London Transport !
If I lived in the country I’d def, buy it .

faustina · 13/10/2026 20:17

@triggers34 - you do have to buy something to get the gift. I did send one back once because I was returning the thing I bought, and I didn't want it, but I think they told me I didn't have to

ScottishMouse · 13/10/2026 20:17

Thanks @OftenOrange that is super helpful. I think I will try it. I don’t tend to wear thick knits anymore as I get too warm, so wouldn't need to worry about the bulk so much. It’s really only whether the colour will wash me out that makes me unsure.
@AFingerofFudge ah, that is also a good one. I tried it a while back and nearly bought but decided I preferred my navy alpaca poncho as a similar type of layer and probably didn’t need both.
