@Theteapotsbrokenspout I have that skirt. I agree it’s neat on the waist. Could you move the buttons slightly? I think it’s quite a full a-line so decided not to size up.

I have a couple of questions. Hopefully someone can help 😁. I’m thinking of ordering the loop back pants. Does anyone have them, or past style. If so, do they bag at the knees?

I don’t live near a shop, but would like to take a day out and visit one. Harrogate and York are the nearest. Does anyone know if they have similar stock or one better than other.

Thanks

I was going to add, is there anything in particular you don't like about Summer clothes @ScottishMouse?

Personally I cannot stand the palette a lot of summer (and spring) clothes come in. At least Toast largely avoids using that. I also cannot stand anything too short sleeved, or without sleeves. Or too short (no cropped trouser here!). Summer is part of the reason why I make my own clothes!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/08/2026 13:34

@MsDastardley I did consider moving the buttons, I’m going to try the bigger size first. That’s why I don’t like fixed waists, I could spend a lot of time moving buttons to and fro.

CandidCrow · 28/08/2026 13:47

I just saw the live! I thought the space dyed dress is lovely but $$. I’ll be trying it on when I visit London in September

ScottishMouse · 28/08/2026 15:33

@ShadowViolet yes, I don’t like summer palettes usually, I want black/navy/grey primarily. I love a cropped trouser as I am short! But I hate sleeveless tops & dresses, don’t really wear dresses much, and find T-shirts so tricky as they can look so frumpy when you have a bust. Knitwear is my happy place. And scarves, I’ve never found a summer scarf I want to wear but I really miss a scarf in summer. I’m a fan of layers and accessories (knitted mostly) doing a lot of the heavy lifting in an outfit, and that just doesn’t work in summer.

ScottishMouse · 28/08/2026 15:42

So I ordered the graphite donegal cardi on weds and it arrived today. I tried it in store yesterday and was disappointed that the sleeves were about 5 inches longer than my grey one from last year. I thought it might be an anomaly though, but the one that arrived in the post today is almost the same. Maybe more like 3 or 4 inches longer, but enough to make them really very long on my short arms. Otherwise I love it, but I’m just not sure whether to keep it or not.

Saurus72 · 28/08/2026 18:22

@CandidCrow Just watched it too and also love that dress. I think I would wear it to death but it’s just so much money. That and the lovely Chie Mihara boots are £580 together, eek 😵‍💫

I’m going to start playing the euromillions 😂😂

CandidCrow · 28/08/2026 18:34

But seriously what has happened to Toast prices? I looked through my purchases and I bought a lot in September 2022 and the prices were a lot lower. The space dyed dress would have been 145 instead of 245 for example

weareallcats · 28/08/2026 18:34

I haven’t really seen anything I like yet. I’m hoping for a velvet dressing grown in a new colour (missed out on the perfect ‘25 green and did not want ‘26 black), hopefully a burgundy or a burnt orange.

Plumo has some nice bits though. I’m not allowed to go mad this year so am holding off for a while.

I’m another who struggles in spring and summer - I need warmth and a degree of depth, nothing too bright or light and blue, grey and white make me look deceased. Autumn is the time where I scoop up most of my clothes (to the point where I look at things and ask myself, ‘could I wear this in the spring/summer?).

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2026 07:19

@weareallcats up until the last few years I didn’t need a separate summer wardrobe here in Scotland, and most things (apart from very chunky knits) could also be worn in summer. Not so anymore sadly. I may just need to keep moving further and further north.

faustina · 29/08/2026 09:25

@ScallopShellWalk and @CakeAndJazz I'm so sorry - I didn't see that you wanted the ecru jeans and I saw them this morning and ordered them! I think they're the only ecru jeans they do that I haven't tried yet. I generally don't have much luck with the barrel shape, though I have a nice pair of the corduroy ones, so I will let you know if they don't work

It's been a really confusing summer for me with clothes as I've changed shape and gone back to a smaller size. I managed to re-buy some of my favourite alixes in the size below, and have been living in those plus cos shorts - it's been so hot here. My cunning plan of one in and one out has not done me any favours as I'm missing a whole geological layer of my wardrobe. I have things that are too big, and things that fit again but feel wrong because it's 2026, not 2016. And I haven't even started on autumn things yet.

I am really loving my pair of Vibae Romas and very tempted to buy in a darker colour now, but I'm wondering really, once it gets a bit colder, can you wear them outside without wrecking them? It's been fine so far, but it's been hot and very dry. I couldn't see anything I liked better than the big cotton linen cardigan in the new knitwear drop so will probably order that one

ScallopShellWalk · 29/08/2026 10:18

@faustina ha! I looked early this morning for the ecru twisted trousers to reappear, you must have been even earlier, or they arrived later. Glad you got them though and I hope you like them. @CakeAndJazz , if I see any more I’ll let you know.

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2026 17:46

Does anyone have the wool cashmere oversized roll neck sweater? There are new colours in this drop, but I know they have had it previously in other colours. Is it very long for a shorter person? I’m also slightly afraid of the pilling and looking after it on such a large area. But I love the black speckled one, and the Donegal cardi is going back, so…..

Countmeout · 29/08/2026 17:57

I tried it last year @ScottishMouse . it felt it did nothing for me. Felt a bit square and dumpy in it. The roll neck didn’t hang casually enough and decided I’m not a polo neck person unless it droops enough.

Re seasons, the past few years I’ve wished I could live in an endless summer, pulling on a dress and good to go. I do wear sleeveless and don’t care. Love it being warm. Conversely I do love my navy wool coat when I wrap myself in it in winter. But give me summer every time.

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2026 18:11

Thanks @Countmeout that doesn’t sound too promising. I also don’t like a tighter polo neck. I may still try it at some point, just so I can rule it out.

ScallopShellWalk · 30/08/2026 08:31

@ScottishMouse shame the cardigan didn’t work out and had to go back.

@Countmeout may I ask what navy wool coat you love? I liked the navy wool coat in the recent sale but didn’t buy it. I think a shorter dark coat could be really nice to have, about a mid length maybe so still warm.

Countmeout · 30/08/2026 09:12

@ScallopShellWalk I have the Conservatoire coat. It was a big investment for me last year but I’ve always had a navy coat and was finding it difficult to replace the one I had for I think 8-9 years and was showing some wear. The Toast coat is very oversized but lovely and enveloping. It’s a very dark navy. I find I don’t wear half or 3/4 coats in winter, too much thinking needed about the bottom half.

ScallopShellWalk · 30/08/2026 09:51

@Countmeout , it’s a lovely coat for sure. I also bought a long coat last year, the Frankie brown check one and I really love it though sometimes I want to feel darker, thinking a 3/4 dark coat would be good.

ScallopShellWalk · 30/08/2026 17:06

I realise I have a black wool coat in my wardrobe that I hastily bought in a sale for a funeral that never got worn at the funeral. I’ve worn it once out for a meal so I’ll make sure I use it more this winter with big scarves or a pin to close the front higher. It’s one of those that buttons at the waist and I have realised this doesn’t work for me, I’m too cold. I like to be buttoned right up.
Today, I also bought from reworn the slate, drawstring collar dress. I no longer have a black dress, having moved on any I had. If it fits and suits me then I’ll be content otherwise I guess it’ll go back. I do feel I need a black dress, so many reasons why, but I haven’t really seen any I like. This isn’t expensive so it’s worth taking a chance on. I really feel winter coming in now, with talk of black dresses and wool coats. I have a wool jumper on today, feels good.

ScallopShellWalk · 31/08/2026 16:54

The reworn taro stripe shirt arrived and the thistle xs linen shirt.

The stripe taro shirt has gone back already. I also sent back the white collared oxford shirt in small. I can’t get over the long tail, having a short back doesn’t help, the tails were at least half way down the back of my thighs. Under jumpers they look odd and I realised they also bunch up under the jumpers over my bust. I’ve decided that I won’t look at stark white shirts again, they are quite bright and I’m happy with the one I have already. The stripe shirt was a lovely colour but no good for me in that style.

The thistle linen one I’m going to consider a little longer. It’s a nice colour, does work under some jumpers but I’m not sure if it makes my face look sick. 😱 maybe I do.

PeonyBlush10 · 31/08/2026 19:17

Is anyone else noticing Toast sales on eBay are very slow. I have a beetroot cord dress, worn once (wrong size) and I thought it would be snapped up with the price I’m asking but it’s been listed for weeks with little activity. Anyone else noticing similar ?

Saurus72 · 31/08/2026 19:41

@PeonyBlush10 Same - I haven’t ebayed for quite a few months because for me the effort and time just hasn’t been worth the return. I have another tranche of (mainly) Toast clothes but also Jigsaw, Whistles and Cos to pass on and I think I’m likely to just donate to a charity shop.

PeonyBlush10 · 31/08/2026 19:51

@Saurus72 you’ve had similar experience. Mind you I did list the substantial cord dress as we were heading into Spring which is perhaps not best timing. It’s at an even lower price than its sale price this summer and it is basically in new condition. Perhaps we might have better luck as we head into a new season. I’m thinking of listing it on Vinted too but perhaps it’s just as sluggish there too.

Delara · 31/08/2026 21:15

Try Vinted and list at a price lower than similar items – whenever I favourite a TOAST item that's a bit of a bargain it sells really quickly, sometimes even when I'm looking at the listing! eBay definitely feels slower to me.
