The new stuff is quite interesting. I’d like wide legged chord trousers but not really sure I see what I want. Might look closer at other chord stuff. The navy wool mid coat might be something I’d look out for in a sale but I don’t need one this year. Navy knee high socks are a yes. 😁. The high neck cardigans look interesting.

I see that Toast is again doing the ‘sign up for the email newsletter and get 10% off your first full price order’ pop up on the screen…

I like a lot of the new things, but I have had a hard think lately about what I actually need vs what I can get carried away with myself and want to buy. I will try some of the cardigans, but they would need to be much better than what I already have for me to buy. I’ve sold a bunch of things from my wardrobe that weren’t getting enough wear, and realised some of these were things I loved but didn’t love me (wrong colour, wrong shape mostly), so I need to be really careful about what I buy from now on as I’m finding it harder to sell things on lately.

Same @ScottishMouse . My style is changing and I’m definitely moving away from. Toast styles more and more. Tbh, this is a real pain because 5 years ago, I could go to the website and be pretty certain there would be 3-4 new dresses I wanted each SS/AW season. Made life easy! Now, I really have to search and so I’m shopping elsewhere (Cos, Jigsaw, just rediscovered Baukjen). That means a LOT of orders and returns. Interestingly, the dresses I bought from Toast over the past 2-ish years I’m not sure I’ll be able to sell because of frayed seams etc.

Also, for the first time in years I’m planning to buy a few new things to wear to work on the odd day I go in. Not corporate but things I feel good on and want to wear, instead of cast-offs from my weekend wardrobe. Have ordered a Whistles jumper and Cos skirt to start.

@ScottishMouse @Saurus72 I’m interested in what you say. I’ve only know toast less than a year and now realising what I like to wear as opposed to the other eye catching toast clothes that I won’t. My clothes colour palette is pretty simple and I like it, so anything showing up outwith the muted colours I like, I can ignore. This reduces options and I’m not really that bothered about any of it. Sadly I still like a bargain and am and will be tempted by sales and reworn.

I do like what I have but I am less interested in the same style popping up in a different fabric or colour. I bought a few knits last year and won’t be tempted by much of that if any this year, though possibly a cardigan.

At some point I’ll want boots and I’d like some dark brown/grey/khaki cords.

So I have been looking elsewhere too but the clothes I like are too expensive so it would have to be sales or secondhand. I’m happy to look and admire and I’m really happy that I can slow right down buying now.

The reworn twisted seam ecru trousers size 8 arrived today and are now on their way back to Toast. If anyone is interested. Too tight on the waist for me. They look new.

@ScallopShellWalk i too have a very limited colour palette in my wardrobe, and when I veer away from it, I regret it later as the item just doesn’t get worn that much.
I have a few wardrobe gaps, but the churning out the same item in different colours/fabrics annoys me too as that hardly ever allows the gaps to be filled. The only thing this season that I might rebuy in another colour is the Donegal cardigan. I bought it in grey last year and wore it loads, and I really like the graphite it comes in this drop.
I also seem to have developed some pretty expensive taste recently, really loving some European & Japanese brands that come with hefty price tags. But an item has to really earn its place at those prices, I will only stretch for something that will be worn and worn until it falls apart.

@ScallopShellWalki think i have tried those ecru twisted seam jeans from Reworn and they fitted exactly the same as my size 6 version (which are a bit too snug)

i liked the new Annie jeans until I saw the price! 285 GBP

Some I like are: Apuntob, Ichi Antiquites, Labo.Art, Pas de Calais, Maison de Soil, Runaway Bicycle.
All a bit tricky to find and £££ sadly.

@ScallopShellWalk @Popplebop I will keep an eye out for the Reworn ecru jeans as I’d be keen to try them. Are you usually a Toast 8, Scallop, if you don’t mind me asking? Maybe these were labelled incorrectly if they were the ones you tried Popple?

I wear the Orla sweaters so much and really love the blush pink one. I also got excited by the 100% cotton Annie, but then realised
they’re the full length version which is too long on me (and yes the price @CandidCrow).

@Popplebop size 6!! I can see that now. I could hardly fasten the button, it was like something out the 60s in that I almost had to lie down to zip them up. But sitting down was a laugh. I’m glad they didn’t fit and I had to send them back, I don’t need them.

@ScottishMouse thank you for the list of nice brands. I will be checking them all out. It’s mainly pas de Calais that like but is too expensive. I like one of their waistcoats but I think it’s about £350 😩. Even if I had the spare money I wouldn’t happily spend that on a waistcoat. Sales can be good though. But I don’t see that much stocked here anyway. I’m going to scout for a little boutique that has nice oversized, floaty, scandi, Japanese styles. Any recommendations gratefully received.

@CakeAndJazz I have some toast trousers in an 8 (eg without elastic waist- Japanese indigo jeans, chocolate velvet trousers) and they fit well. I also have some in a 10 (no elasticated waist - Annie denim cropped, wool broken herringbone pleat) and these were reviewed as a small waist. I have narrow hips but my waist isn’t 😩. So I go between an 8 and a 10 it seems. I think they’d fit you if you are an 8, they seemed to stretch, they were nice. The waist and pelvis were snug on me, so not just the waist. So not a loose fit at all on the pelvis. I hope you get to try them. They were £66 on reworn.

I've been looking at that pinkish Orla jumper as well @CakeAndJazz. It's the only thing in this drop that caught my eye. I'm tempted, but today I'm wearing an alpaca cardigan from Poetry and there's something really nice about wearing what feels like a soft fluffy cloud compared to Toast's somewhat rougher offering. So may be I'll just get another one of those Poetry cardigans instead.

And yes, it is that cold in my house that I'm wearing winter clothes in August. I'd certainly get enough use out of another Orla jumper.

@IlovePond I wish I could go to that sample sale - I’ve been to one there once before - but it’s too far really.

Just had a quick look at the new things on the website. The boiled wool check coat looks good but £645! And yes, that pinky Orla jumper!!! What an amazing colour. And the high neck wool cashmere fine rib sweaters look lovely but £175!

I have just received a pair of Vibae Zuma shoes from Vinted (£50 bargain almost new) in a tan colour - they have the dark brown on the TOAST website- and they are beautiful. I’ll post a pic if I can.

I went to KC today. They had some nice knitwear - men’s as well as women’s in the ‘outlet’/aka sale goods section.

The staff were lovely and I bought a summer dress. Totally the wrong time of year but it is one that I had wanted to try when it was first out - the orange tie dye one from a couple of years ago.

It’s a bit tight on the chest 😿and the arm holes/neckline are cut in a way that will make bra wearing challenging but I love it and will make it work!

In other KC news: NRBY have closed down, which is a shame as they hadn’t been open long. (I have also just remembered that I bought a top from there a few months ago and have no idea where I put it when I got home. 🙈I certainly haven’t worn it, which is very bad of me!)

Oh I love the new Orla in straw. I've been desperately trying to find one of the cinnamon ones second hand but with no luck and this might scratch that itch. I'm not sure I can justify the spend though as have just bought the Orla in Bordeaux!

I am personally glad that they bring out different colours of the same item, I like having personal uniform and when something works I want it in multiple colours 😂

@IlovePond I've been trying to figure out the dress you managed to pick up. Is it the dip dye one in multi colours, silk?

Thanks @ScallopShellWalk - it was a bit more than I would usually pay for a dress, but it is so beautiful!

I also tried on the Freya indigo and liked it more than I expected - even though the bodice and neckline didn’t do me many favours. I sort of regret not buying it as I could have worn a jumper over the top.

However, I had spent too much already so probably for the best that I left it!
