As promised, here is the new thread.

All are welcome to chat about Toastie topics, (and other related things!)

@ScottishMouse I have just looked at your trousers and striped linen top on vtd. My trousers are the same as yours and same size except mine are navy indigo. It’s a shame they don’t fit you. I really like mine.
I also like the top you are selling but I'm afraid to seriously consider it as I don’t know what one size reflects. I’m a 10 in toast and usually in others too. But I’ll think it over. I’ve liked it.
I now see your measurements. Don’t know how I missed that.

ScottishMouse · 07/08/2026 15:27

Mine are actually navy indigo too @ScallopShellWalk, probably the same as yours but hard to photograph the colour. They are so beautiful, and unique. I think I was wearing winter boots when I tried them, but with what I would actually want to wear with them - they are just too long :(
The t-shirt is a nice oversized fit on me at size 12, but I think would work on anyone 8-14 comfortably. The linen is very soft and the drape is great. Not trying to persuade you of course! If nothing else, introducing you to a new brand for the future 😆

ScallopShellWalk · 07/08/2026 16:15

@ScottishMouse Thank you for the introduction of the new brand. I am considering the top but I’m most likely going to refrain but I’m not sure yet. Thank you for the info. It sounds very nice. I like a drape but I wonder if it might not look so great on me. Without trying it on it’s hard to know. Might be too big but I can’t be sure. I’m going to see what else I have in that measurement and whether a stripe would work for me. The colours are right.

The trousers, I can now see the darker colour in one of your photos. I thought maybe it was the lighter trousers in the same style which I think also looks great.

faustina · 07/08/2026 16:37

@ScottishMouse I love that linen t-shirt too and am very tempted but will sit on my hands for the time being as my sensible head tells me I have no room for any more stripes!

CakeAndJazz · 07/08/2026 19:51

@ShadowViolet that bangle looks so nice on! I have Alba’s silver fish necklace from earlier this year, and really enjoy wearing it.

I was wondering if anyone has the Bleu De Chauffe workwear bag. Am I imagining it or did Toast previously stock it but in a different colour? Or was it larger? I somehow remember the same style, but bigger and possibly in burgundy? But I can’t seem to find it in any online Toast images of it so I am probably mistaken. I’m looking for a mini bag that can fit all essentials (I have the Kate Sheridan scout bag but find that it hardly holds anything). Did you have much luck in finding something suitable @ScottishMouse?

ScottishMouse · 07/08/2026 20:07

Nothing so far @CakeAndJazz. Everything I like is either too big or too small. I am sticking with my ubiquitous Uniqlo crossbody bag for now. I hate it but also kind of love it tbh!

Delara · 07/08/2026 20:58

Hi all, new to toast, when do toast do sales and drop new items for a season?

I'm in the market for a jumper and love the Orla Donegal wool jumper. I'm wondering if they might go on sale and when, and I'm wondering if I should wait for an autumn collection to see if I like any of the new knitwear more. Budget only for one new jumper this winter unfortunately!

So pleased to hear that the people who were chucked off Kindred in January got it back again. Maybe when we did that survey they paid attention to what we said?

I was chucked off in January and haven’t bought anything at all since. I do still wear Toast though - and bought a (lovely, fingers crossed) charcoal / oatmeal landscape linen dress from Vinted. It was one I wish I’d bought from Toast a few years ago. It was expensive for vinted so lets hope that means its in fabulous condition.

Thats disappointing. I’ll also keep looking. I think the mini workwear bag would be perfect, if only a little bit bigger.

Welcome to the thread @Delara -Toast do mini drops ALL the time - very annoying!

The main sales are June and December, although we occasionally get what they call a ‘fading summer sale’ at the end of August/September. They have also been known to do 20% off - for example, knitwear over some random weekend in October. Basically, Toast are a law unto themselves 😹

If you are after a particular jumper from a previous season, it can be worth calling the Shepton Mallet and Llandeilo shops as they have a small selection of what Toast call outlet stock, but which nowadays means old stock at the sale price.

Re: knitwear in particular- Toast sales have, imo, been pretty poor over the last couple of years and relatively little knitwear has been reduced. However, they do reduce some pieces.

@CakeAndJazz - I know the bag you mean- it was indeed burgundy and a nice size. I saw one at SM during a sample sale once and stupidly didn’t buy it. I think they were selling it on the website four or five years ago

@CakeAndJazz - I have that Bleu de Chauffe bag in burgundy. It's very pretty but absolutely too small for me so I've only used it a couple of times. They do a bigger version on the Bleu de Chauffe website but if you're in the UK that will mean duties etc

ScallopShellWalk · Yesterday 11:18

@Delara I have bought a few pieces of knitwear on toast sales and on Toasts reworn (which was like new) part of the website. This tended to be out of season. It’s really nice.

Thank you! Might just be worth me buying full price so I can wear over autumn. Good tip about the old stock, I would love the cinnamon Orla from past seasons!

Thanks @IlovePond so I didn’t just imagine a different colour previously. @faustina is the burgundy one you have the same size as the mini one currently on the website? Quite possibly if you can’t fit much in?

www.toa.st/products/bleu-de-chauffe-mini-workwear-bag-black

faustina · Yesterday 12:50

@CakeAndJazz - yes it's the same one. I could fit a card wallet, a phone, and something else small, but not gloves or sunglasses or a charger from memory, so any trip further than locally didn't really work. It's not really burgundy either - more a beautiful reddish brown

ScottishMouse · Yesterday 14:38

Does anyone have the wool cashmere neat cardigan? I hadn’t previously looked at it as I tend to like my tops oversized, but I realised recently when wearing an old sweater that I felt was too small, that actually a neater top looks better with baggier bottoms (which I also lean towards). I did know this in theory of course, but psychological comfort has made me want to hide all parts of my body in oversized clothes in recent times. I would like to try to find some neater tops (but not too neat!), and am wondering how this might look if I went up a size (or 2?) from my usual.

ScottishMouse · Yesterday 14:40

@CakeAndJazz I ordered and returned that Bleu de Chauffe bag in the winter. Like @faustina saya, not big enough to hold more than the absolute bare minimum. A shame as it is lovely.

IlovePond · Yesterday 15:10

Inspired by @ShadowViolet I decided I quite fancied a brass bangle. I happened to visit Richmond, (Yorks), today and the market was on

One guy was selling what he claimed were brass bangles he made himself. I can’t testify to the veracity of either claim, but I have bought one anyway. Assuming my arm doesn’t go green, (🤞), or the bangle go black, I am cautiously pleased with it!

Thanks @faustina that size looks perfect and such a stunning colour. I think its price is over the duty/tax threshold, as you mentioned before.

Thanks @ScottishMouse the bag search continues (I definitely don’t need another bag I can’t fit my essentials in). I tried on a reworn neat cashmere cardigan in charcoal (but had to return it as the neck stitching was faulty), and I really liked it. I usually don’t wear neat tops, but I really liked the cardigan. I did try a size up from my usual Toast knitwear size and found it comfortably snug. I did find it quite long in the body.

ScottishMouse · Yesterday 15:41

Thanks @CakeAndJazz I might give it a try. What stopped you ordering one full price?

ScallopShellWalk · Yesterday 15:44

@ScottishMouse I too bought the charcoal neat cardigan from reworn, mine had only a bit of bobbling. I really like it. I had my eye on it new too. I bought my usual size.

ScottishMouse · Yesterday 15:49

Thanks @ScallopShellWalk. I’m definitely going to give it a try when I’m next in store.
