@ScallopShellWalk - I was looking at those black trousers earlier - that's the problem with anything shaped at the cuff if they're too long - you just lose it all

ScallopShellWalk · 03/08/2026 20:46

@triggers34 I would likely buy a pass again if I lost kindred. As I had just bought one a month before I received kindred I haven’t really been given free postage anyway.

ScallopShellWalk · 03/08/2026 20:53

@faustina I’ve not been able to try the black ones on but I did try the lime (ish) green. I thought they hung quite nicely but were too long. So I expect the black too will be too long. I actually hadn’t noticed that they were shaped at the cuff but I couldn’t wear them as they are, they were trailing. I take too long to get around to shorten trousers, I can’t really be bothered to be honest. So I might never buy them, sale or not.

faustina · 03/08/2026 20:56

Well it sounds as if you've found a nice replacement for them!

ScallopShellWalk · 03/08/2026 21:14

@faustina I hope so.

ShadowViolet · 04/08/2026 09:53

I received the Alba Crown Bangle yesterday. It's lovely and exactly what I hoped it would be, apart from the fact that it's too small. I'm so annoyed. I don't think I have particularly large hands, but may be I do.

ScallopShellWalk · 04/08/2026 13:38

@ShadowViolet oh that’s a shame. What will you do? Can you get it on at all?

ManchesterMonkey · 04/08/2026 13:59

I’m heading to see the Welsh farmers bit of my family on Friday and they are handily 12 miles from the Llandeilo shop (the original), which has a good archive section. If anyone has been recently can I ask what’s the stock like at the moment? I’m on the hunt for accessories, size 14 / large in women and XL in men as I suppose I OUGHT to buy something for Mr Monkey! Thanks in advance.

ShadowViolet · 04/08/2026 14:04

I think that if I used brute force I may be able to get it on, but equally it may do nothing more than bruise my knuckles @ScallopShellWalk. So it’s going back 🫤

I was disappointed enough to check out the Alba Jewellery website and noticed that some of the bangles can be made in a larger size, so I’m considering that, depending on cost.

IlovePond · 04/08/2026 14:07

I popped into the York shop yesterday. I tried on a couple of the cotton loungewear(?) dresses in different patterns/colours at £155 each. Both were weirdly too big everywhere in a M.

I liked the blue chambray dress, despite the weird half drawstring thing at the waist, but 14 was too big and it’s sold out everywhere in a 10 or 12. I did like it, though.

I've been in touch with Alba Jewellery and they can stretch the bangle to make it 5 mm bigger. Really impressed with the fast response and (relatively) easy solution.

ScallopShellWalk · 05/08/2026 13:17

My reworn Lydia and Noelle dresses arrived today but were a disappointment. Too worn and stains. They will go back today. The Dalia night dress is lovely I will keep that.
I might buy a jersey dress full price or in the sale as I can see it being nice but not at all happy with these reworn ones sadly.

IlovePond · 05/08/2026 13:24

That’s dreadful @ScallopShellWalk - selling stained clothing is unacceptable.

faustina · 05/08/2026 13:30

@ShadowViolet - what a great result from Alba! I'm still thinking about the lovely matching ring

Sorry to hear about the duds @ScallopShellWalk . I've had a few too, but the majority have been wins

ScallopShellWalk · 05/08/2026 13:50

@IlovePond @faustina yes it’s not great receiving clothes with stains and a bit too worn for comfort but it’s true most of what I buy on reworn is really good and there’s no addition cost on delivery or return so it’s worth a try. Risks on reworn sites are much higher for me. I have sadly had more disappointments there than wins and you can’t just return it so easily so it ends up being given away. My bank balance is happy to return these 😊

ScallopShellWalk · 05/08/2026 15:06

I ended up ordering the reworn jute clogs. Thinking they could work in the house. They could also work on holiday if they are not heavy. I need new slippers and thinking these might be nicer.

ShadowViolet · 06/08/2026 11:47

Bangle success! Here it is, with a Toast cord jacket. I reckon this will go with 80% of my wardrobe, if not more ☺️

@ShadowViolet that’s great it now fits and it looks really nice on. I hope you get alot of pleasure from wearing it.

My less than half price Pas de Calais indigo linen trousers arrived and they are a big hit with me. Can hardly wait to wear them.

faustina · 06/08/2026 13:00

It looks beautiful @ShadowViolet - fabulous colour and texture!

Saurus72 · 06/08/2026 13:44

Really lovely @ShadowViolet, what a great buy. I went to Toast in Cambridge on Saturday and saw a beautiful Helena Rohner necklace that is now on my wishlist. We’re going to Spain in a few weeks so I’m planning to find one of her stockists to see a bigger range. Nothing else caught my eye except for the lovely green garden trug and matching watering can, just so life enhancing. Not buying now though as we are hopefully moving house very soon (🤞) so I must wait!

I saw that necklace in York @Saurus72 - it’s very pretty.

Beautiful bangle @ShadowViolet i’m tempted myself now!

Gonegrey31 · 07/08/2026 11:58

Beekeeper22 my Beya shirt has arrived and I love it. Size 8 is a bit oversized but Iooks fine (bear in mind I'm very flat chested). The colour is a beautiful blue and the fabric crisp and doesn't easily crease. A good wardrobe staple.

ScottishMouse · 07/08/2026 14:52

@ScallopShellWalk would love to see the Pas de Calais trousers you bought. Another place that sells the brand is Cordelia James - I have bought from there before.
I have a beautiful pair of really wide barrel indigo trousers from Pas de Calais that almost look like a skirt on, that I bought in spring but cannot wear as they are too long on little old me. I thought I could take them up, but the amazing craftsmanship and the great shape will just get lost of if I do. I’m going to list them on Vinted, but it’s tricky with brands that aren’t well known. They have also been hard to photograph well. If anyone is interested (or in a gorgeous linen knit tshirt from another lovely not well known Japanese brand that is not right for me but is languishing unwanted on Vinted), do let me know!
