Do jumpsuits suit anyone?

This has been playing on my mind since my husband said that jumpsuits don't suit anyone. A friend of mine told me the opposite that jumpsuits suit everyone so thought I would have it a go and I now have two. I don't wear them often and he didn't comment when I did wear them on holiday but I have been reluctant to wear them even more since he said this even though it wasn't really directed at me personally. What do you all think?

I have a thread going on at the moment about a jumpsuit I just bought, and now I feel like everyone was lying to me! Contrary to what people are saying here, I'm not tall (5'5") and I don't have proportionately long legs, but most comments were positive apart from one inevitable "plumber" comparison. I assume if people had thought I looked like a tool they would have said so or just not bothered to comment, so I'm going to tentatively say that the jumpsuit looked ok on me.

I’ve never been tempted to even try one on, and I’m not sure they’ve ever been a thing in the u.s. And a “playsuit” is an awful, infantile term for a short jumpsuit.

I love jumpsuits and have loads! They make me feel tall (I’m 5’9” so quite tall) and confident.
I'm wearing a gorgeous Nancy Mac one next week as mother of the bride 😊👰‍♀️

I love jumpsuits and think they can be super flattering and slimming as they are all of a piece. Sadly though, they can be an awful faff to get on and off especially in cramped toilet cubicles. This is particularly the case when you are a woman of a certain age and need to take more frequent bathroom breaks!

My bestie - who is stunning- thinks she suits a jumpsuit. This is a beautiful woman and she looked better when I saw her after an emergency hospital admission than in the jumpsuit she wore to her DS's wedding.
Tess Daly looked 6 out of 10 in one once. This was the most flattering jumpsuit i had ever seen.

I don't see the point of them. I don't understand why out of all the other options available anyone would pick a jumpsuit.

I'm not interested in whether they suit anyone or not - they're just such an unattractive piece of clothing.

I think some people look fab in them. Often the same people look great in anything.
I have never found a dress to suit me ( short, busty apple). I look like a dinner lady in every sort of dress. Tried a jumpsuit. Looked like a tele tubby.
But some people look great in them

They make me look like a giant toddler. Or a Teletubbie.

But they do suit some people.

If you like them, why not?

I bought one years ago thinking it would look pretty good. I liked like Tweedle Dum (or Tweedle Dee. Take your pick!). That was the end of the very short lived jumpsuit experiment.

I think your husband is right.

The jumpsuit in the pic isn't fitting properly. The neck is too low and the body is too tight, the elastic around the waist cuts you on half.

You need a higher neckline, more flowy fabric, possibly a tie or belt round the waist and a bigger size.

You just need to try different styles.

The jumpsuit is soo comfy to wear, only downside is the button at the back which is a bit of a PITA to undo when you need the loo!

I've only ever found one that suited me, slightly gutted its now too big tbh

I often can’t wear them as I have a long body and long legs.

The one you’re wearing in the photo is doing you absolutely no favours, sorry.

IMHO they are rarely flattering on the wearer’s bottom. She may look at the front and think it looks good, but if she looked at her behind - saggy.
Plus are they not dreadfully impractical, as you’ve got to take them half off when you go to the loo?

Nooooo! I'm sure it looks lovely. I think jumpsuits look great on anyone who doesn't have a body that is freakishly long in proportion with their legs. Seriously I'm the same height as my 6'1 DH when we sit down and I'm only 5'6. If I was even vaguely proportional I'd buy that jumpsuit in a heartbeat.

I got into jumpsuits because I was once standing behind a lady in the supermarket who looked effortlessly fabulous in her patterned summery one, which sent me on a big Vinted spree. I was quite enjoying wearing them, until I saw a photo my friend had taken of me from the back 😱 Now I just wear a couple of my comfiest ones on days when I’m not really going anywhere!

I struggle being tall with camel toe. I’ve got two from Whistles and always get compliments when I wear them.

I tried loads on which seemed to cling in all the wrong places! 5’6, heavy chested curvy.
I have since found some which don’t have clingy material but synch in the right place so I still have a waist but fit my chest and have sleeves.

They are amazing when you’re chasing after children!
